Most of the time emotion goes away after the opening kick...

and teams start to settle in. However, last Saturday night the bears played with very high emotion the entire football game. When a coach continuously rubs your face in it for three years and billboards are posted everywhere declaring "this is our state" and then the team shows up with "this trophy is ours" or whatever the heck it said...and then wears them in pre-game warm-ups it can take emotion to the highest of highest levels. We were as "in your face" as one could possibly be. It was a matter of time for sure. We got what we deserved. It is time to shut up and play football.

I think it's time for you to realize what team you are a fan of. You sound like the old redneck that just called into head to head. If you don't enjoy rubbing it in the faces of those over confident, egotistical, bow tie wearing pricks, then go home and cheer for someone else.

So were we supposed to be apologizing for winning for the last 3 years?

I don't understand all the bitching about rubbing it in. To me, the way Mullen treats Mississippi is a lot like how Spurrier did with Tennessee when he was at Florida (you can't spell Citrus without "UT"). I loved it when Spurrier did it, and I especially love it when Mullen does it. Everyone who complains about Mullen being an arrogant prick need to stop being a bunch of 17ing pussies. It's supposed to get under their skin, not ours.

We played that way pretty much all season

It's how we competed against far superior and experienced talent with basically a bunch of freshmen and sophomores.

I am going to let you in on a little secret.

All of Dan Mullen's previous crap had nothing to do with what happened on the field Sat night. You can all let go of the we were not up for the game excuse. The fact of the matter is that you are not a very good football team and have not been for the last two years. You are about a .500 team against typical competition. You were a 6-6 team this year with a schedule that you couldn't help but win 8 games with and it went to your head. Teams routinely put up over 500yds against your defense all year. A&M even hit the 700yd mark. Any team that gives up that much on a regular basis is not good, so let that sink in.

Edited to add that the after game antics and the jumbotron stuff was definately a product of the constant **** talking and pent up frustration from the previous years.

For Ghost and Sanford, I very much realize the team I am a fan of. I just prefer to take the high road and go about my business. As it relates to football....compliment the other team, say very little, take the field and beat the **** out of them. Then, leave and go about my business. Let them say whatever they want. So, as a fan of MSU...perhaps as long as both of you put together...I will remain on the high road. Talk is cheap and often gets one in trouble. So I will say again. We got what we deserved. Shut up and play football. BTW, Mullen is a great guy and a good coach, in my opinion. He does a lot of good things for many people and will remain high on my list forever.

So what? We're supposed to "know our place":?

so we took them lightly this year. Maybe we won't take them lightly next year. However, I don't mind getting in their faces. They've been getting in people's faces for decades.

Every so often, Americans have to get in Rebels faces and put them in their place.

Here's a secret for you.

You benefited from the same down Ark and Aub team that let you get to 6 wins instead of 4. Now 17 off and enjoy Birmingham, *****. I hear it is is luxurious in January.

Yeah, OM fans have been crowing about our schedule, and ignoring the same thing when it comes to their schedule. They also took advantage of a down Auburn and Arkansas.

Know this...

If Arkansas and Auburn were at their 2009-2011 levels, Ole Miss would have been heading into the Egg Bowl at 3-8 and on a 21-game SEC losing streak.

So people throwing things on strangers after the game who were wearing maroon was due to the pent up frustration caused by the actions of our coach. Got it. Sounds eerily familiar to "so people throwing things and beating up strangers who were black was due to the pent up frustrations caused by the federal government's actions."

Some 17ing things will never change in Oxford. It wasn't and never will be your own damn fault for your actions.

I was gonna say the same thing. In most games, Ole Miss plays really hard. I'll even say I have not seen any team this year play with that much intensity as consistently as Ole Miss does.

An exception may be Stanford. Stanford brought it fast and furious all game long against Oregon.

Anyway, Ole Miss's calling card has been intensity and they have used that as a substitute for talent.

You do realize they were playing at home...

...since when does a home team every experience a letdown of emotion after the opening kick? Especially when they have a stadium packed with 60,000 of their most loyal adherents? MSU lost an away game to a team that was favored. Included, this was the first time in 3 years Vaught-Hemingway (or whatever they call it) was actually into a Mississippi football game. Since 2009, the place has been a graveyard. Then the final game of the 2012 season, for some reason, they decide to rock the place. I'll go out on a limb & say next years Egg Bowl in Starkville will not see our players losing emotion after the opening kick.

+1. Well said.

Guess I need to let my brother know the 7 stitches in his head due to the stadium cup that was thrown at him are Dan Mullen's fault...
