Like if you want the Bears to beat East Surry Friday night for conference championship ! ! Or voice your opinion... Please keep it civil .... No one team is going to blow out the other.
Praying for a injury free game for both teams ...

Happened just last year, and East is better than it was at this time a year ago. Thing is, so is MA.

If East Surry comes out and plays like it did down at Ragsdale, they can make a game out of this. They've only lost to East Wilkes, North Surry, and Ragsdale, and someone who has seen both said that they thought ES would beat EW if they played again now (and this was before EW lost last night). And there's certainly no shame in losing late to a 2A conference champ and a 4A team that's playing for one next Friday.

Sounds good. And no they wouldn't beat EW. East dominated them thoroughly. It's always funny how that one team is said to always have inproved as if the other team didnt. EW lost a rivalry game to Elkin and whoever has you believing that ES could beat them..its an opinion..I think Ew would run all over them once again. I respect ES, always have. Ragsdale is 4a..bigg ups to ES for scheduling them. They aren't that good though. I was actually shocked ES lost to them.

IMO don’t put a lot into who each of these teams played; conference overall not that strong....rivalry game which since 2013 has decided reg season champ....should be great game & great crowd

Ragsdale not that good? Lost to glenn the 6th ranked 4a school and Dudley the 3rd ranked 3a in the state , not to shabby. I will continue to say if the east surry i seen at ragsdale shows up they can play with anybody in the state 1a wise. But in all honesty when East and the Bears hook up all cards are off the table , the rivarly runs deep. If i aint mistaken the bears and cards are hooking up on all levels this week , from little league super bowl to middle school championship to jv, and then on to friday night. Is that correct bareman?? The future is bright for both squads. Lets just hope both teams come away injury free friday night, cause both are gonna make some noise thru the playoffs.

Ragsdale hosting Page Friday night for the conference championship. Both undefeated in conference play.

I don't know if ES would beat East Wilkes or not, I haven't seen EW since early in the season. Just repeating what I was told by someone who had seen them recently. But if Elkin can beat East Wilkes, and meaning no disrespect to Elkin, then certainly East Surry would be capable of it on a given day.

I was at the ES-Ragsdale game. Ragsdale was very athletic, had good size and some playmakers on offense. I thought they were a bit suspect defensively, but they're a solid team even by 4A standards, and would be a challenge for any 1A. Any 1A team that can go into their place and have a field goal opportunity at the end to beat them (Sutterby missed from 38 yards with 19.6 seconds remaining) is a pretty good team.

Not saying E.S isnt good. The Elkin team that EW faced in the 2nd half, honestly is more than capable of handling their own against E.Surry. No excuses but EW was missing Damien Reid in the backfield. That would be like E.Surry not playing the Ray kid. No one wants to say that with him in the backfield that EW beats The Elks by 4 or 5 tds..but I will. I knew when was in street clothes that EW would have a problem. You can't just plug a reserve rb into that triple option offense and expect it to be anywhere near as effective. The Elks figured it out late in the game and EW lost all confidence, as they let a 31 pt lead slide into a 1 pt. loss.

Btw. You guys do know that 3A Dudley beat 4A Ragsdale by 53 points. Just saying. E.Surry is good no doubt about it. But stop using losses to any team as a barometer for how good you are. EW has been good all year. The last 3 games of the year, I personally knew EW would struggle. Ashe, Elkin, and WC all have potent passing attacks that they can and do rely on. If all your team does is try to run the ball on EW as the previous 9 ( with the exception of Walkertown) did, then youre not gonna have very much success. On the other hand, an adequate passing attack, currently gives EW fits. I did say currently. EW has a great coach and may shuffle some "Cards" around in the defensive backfield and defensive line. Maybe. Just maybe.

Only time will tell, who knows the cards and cards might just hook up one more time with the second time. Whats kinda funny out of all this playoff mumbo jumbo talkaty talkaty is nobody is talking about North Stanley , Swain or West Montgomery , bet there will be some nervous souls saturday afternoon when those three appear on somebodys side of the bracket. By the way using ragsdale as a barometer is bout like using the reid kid being out as an excuse, give the elks their due, i love whats been done in east wilkes with the program, hell they are probably my thurd favorite team to watch this year behind the bears and east surry, BUT LETS BE HONEST, if the cards had a kicking game then you could have had a chance to win it in ot. A team as good as east wilkes should not be going for two , thats just my honest opinion. It might work in the northwest 1a or the conference east plays in but that better be fixed come third round.

EW honestly does have a soccer player kicking for them. East success rate has been 90% or so in going for two. He's kicked 7 or 8 extra points in the last 3 games. I will wholeheartedly gives the Elks their due. The fact remains..that its 1a ball at the end of the day. If you take a stud rb and make him unavailable then your team will suffer..not an excuse..just a fact my man. Elkin doesn't win with him in the line up. Props to them for winning though, period. Mad props to them. To me, offensively the way they are passing..they are one of the hottest teams going..on the offensive side of the ball. No lead is safe with them right now. Heck we were up 38-7 at one time..Most Highschool teams will fold facing such an uphill task. The Elks took the challenge head on and successfully conquered it. I guess us EW fans and the EW Varsity team looked at the Elks as a blip on the schedule..turned out they were a BLIMP. LoL. Live and learn. Fight another day.

I think this game will be close and could go either way. Pilot Mountain will be rocking. I haven’t seen either team so I may make it on up there for this one. ES will play ball control and keep those Granite Bears off the field. As long as they are effective and can dictate the flow of the game they will be in it.
