Thanks! I appreciate that. Now this thread is about the Mt. Airy vs. West Montgomery game. You can tune in to Tommy and Kelly either from the WPAQ740 web site or use the TuneIN Radio app on your smart phone. They both work great. If you are traveling and bouncing around cell towers and sporadic internet coverage, the TuneIn Radio app works the best to get WPAQ740. Just doing my part to help you represent our county. We don't want to look too country and bass ackward to the fine folks of Mt. Airy. And hey, if you don't like my posts don't reply.
Is it just me or does anyone else think that BD is the only one who "gets" his insults? The play dough/safe space remarks? And to whoever asked about where to eat, the answer is before you leave home.
It's just you snowflake. This isn't the basketball board. This is the Mt. Airy-West Montgomery thread. West has some of the best food in NCHSAA football. Disregard EM91 Bear fans. He's still bitter his team lost twice to West in the two biggest games in their programs history and he's having trouble accepting it. Maybe you should join Transplant in his safe space and work on arts and crafts until next season. And if you aren't sure what the jokes are there's a feature called Google. Well, I am an East Surry FAN and we have scrimmaged both East Montgomery and West Montgomery. And played Mt. Airy twice!!! Plus we scrimmaged Lincolnton two days after West and East pounded us!! We actually played better against Lincolnton with Surratt than we did in Montgomery County.
Now the game between Mt. Airy and West Montgomery;
a few observations
First, both have great football staffs, headed by young, intelligent head coaches.
both teams will be well prepared and emotional
Second, they both have SPEED
Third, they both are winning programs with great followings
Fourth, both have exceptional running backs (Leake and Frost)
Since we never saw the kickers and punters from West I can not comment on their special teams. But Mt. Airy has a special kicker in Brown. Gives them great field position and ability to kick field goals.
Decisions by the two senior quarterbacks could be the difference!!!!!
Mt. Airy's ability to throw to 21 and 2 will challenge the West Montgomery secondary.
West Montgomery up front on defense was nasty and tough in our scrimmage!
One intangible will be the weather. Could the cold cause a turnover which decides the
game??

After seeing both teams this season I believe like all big games, it will come down to the trenches. I know that statement is cliche but in this match up there are play makers up front for both teams. Which ever team can get it done up front will be in the drivers seat. Both teams are loaded with great play makers on the perimeter and in the backfield, but the unsung hero's of both teams are the men up front. The most intriguing match up to me will be MA's offensive line against WM's defensive line and linebackers. In my opinion MA will have to use a TE or a back more this week to help block the pressure and get rid of the ball quick in the passing game. WM will probably man up MA in the secondary and the front seven will be cut loose to come after MA. #2. #8, and #21 for MA can go the distance at anytime. MA backfield don't need much time or room, so this match up is one to watch. The next big match up will be MA's defensive front 7 against the power option of WM. WM can go on long clock eating drives and three and four yard you to death. MA's defense front 7 swarms to the ball. With the foretasted temps at game time, the ball is going to be cold and hard so passing and catching may be a factor as well in terms of dropped or tipped balls. I agree with davisdorm, this has all the makings of a classic. Best of luck to both teams and regardless of who wins, you both have had great seasons. Represent the West!!!!

Great posts guys. West and Mt. Airy match up pretty good on paper. Both have Sr. QBs and good backfields. West is really young on the OL at a few positions and at times on the DL/LB as well. West has a good core of leaders and plenty of speed across the board. Hopefully the refs will let the kids play and not have as much impact as they did last week. FYI dress as warm as you can and bring blankets!! Have a safe trip down and here's to an injury and penalty free game!
Looking forward to tomorrow night. Should be one hell of a game. Hope MA brings one hell of a crowd!
Well looks like a majority of posters have selected Mt. Airy as an overwhelming favorite to win tonight. Simmons has West by 7. No doubt will be a good game and with West the underdog hopefully they'll come out more fired up than ever! Safe travels everyone and see y'all tonight!

West Montgomery is the clear favorite in this game. No doubt the Bears are coming in as the underdogs. West is Undefeated, Bears have a loss... Good Luck..
Any idea on how big the crowd will be tonight? What time do the gates open and will parking be a problem at all?
I don't believe there is a clear favorite. That is a matter of perception. The loss the bears had means nothing once the regular season ends. But, just keep on thinking the bears are the underdogs. That is fine.
I don't think but one person has said the Bears are underdogs...... West has more youth than the Bears. Which normally translates at this level to an advantage for their opponent. When two teams are as equally matched as these two the youth of the Warriors could be the "X" factor in determining the outcome. Defense and special teams will decide the outcome of this game. I said the same thing last week against "the other team" and it proved to be the deciding factor. I also don't think that Mt. Airy will make the coaching mistakes that were made last week against the Warriors so it should be decided in the trenches. I have been chided for saying this but I certainly hope that both teams are allowed to play and that the momentum good or bad isn't broken up by an overzealous officiating crew. #14 Williams is an unsung stalwart for the Warriors defense. Involved in nearly every play it seems. Big part of completely shutting down the run game of Mt. Airy. Has put up big number of tackles this year.
