Almost anything is something to crack a joke about. Whether or not you find it funny depends on how offended you are prepared to be.

Seems odd to me too...and I've never seen anybody ever do that. Looks like you'd remove it purely out of respect.
There is only one person to be the judge of that. I'm a Baptist to but strongly believe in it’s not our job to judge people but to pray for them.

Did you freeze your arse off at the game? The wind was killer in Mitchell, so I assume it was very bad there.
I did not go to the App State game. The wind, rain and cold was just too much for that game. I did go to Avery Friday night. Yes, I did freeze as did everybody else. Great facilities but poor fan turnout. The acoustics were such that I could hear the Owen coach yelling at his players. I also heard the Avery coach telling the players they were getting their A$$ whooped - and I was sitting pretty high up. I assume it was the acoustic combined with the frozen crowd. Owen has some athletes, especially in the run game or else Avery was having trouble tackling and their secondary was a step slow. Hard for me to judge but overall not a very exciting atmosphere. You could hear a pin drop at times - I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and call it “frozen lips”syndrome.
The turnout was terrible. We were way off of normal and still had more fans than Avery. Pitiful for Senior night

Yeah it was 54-18 then we put in the jvs. They scored a couple TDs on the jvs. We are clicking right now. I think you guys woke us up. We keep playing like this and we can make a run in the playoffs
Avery had 300 yards passing but my guess is they had 175 on jvs. We gave up the run but they couldn't throw a whole lot on us. We had 2 picks but should have had 5.
Mitchell gonna put a running clock on Avery. That deal with huddle has not set well. Their QB will be scrambling for his life and they can’t stop Mitchell’s running game.
I am not bashing Avery because they are improved from last year but their D is the worst of any team we have played thus far
Thanks. I believe you did. I have been told that the boys showed Monday after the loss to Mitchell and got focused and down to business. Had their best week of practice and it went from there. All you need to do is peak at the right time. That time is now. We have had really good teams that peaked to early. I am anxious to see what we do in the playoffs.
best time of the season to peak. Look at Polk last year. Got into the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, went to the 3rd round. Same with Mitchell in 2010. Good luck to the Warhorses and ALL of the WHC in the post season.
Yeah good luck to the WHC. We are enemies in conference but come playoffs I root for all of you. Aside from Madison this conference seems to be getting back to where every week has the potential to be a battle.
I actually used those very examples talking about how we are ending the season going into the playoffs
Least amount of fans at an Avery game this year which was a downer for senior night. The cold probably scared some away but many are used to that kind of weather so I don’t understand. Avery was flat from the start (it didn’t feel right from the runout on). I guess that could be attributed to the lack of fan turnout as well. Avery’s D will get eaten alive by Mitchell... The offense has great potential but putting nonstop pressure on the QB when we have a great RB makes it frustrating as a fan. Our QB is a VERY GREAT but you need to go with what is working at that moment and not make the play calling predictable. Offense I believe if they play good can score with anyone, but the defense is super spotty.
Thanks for coming to Avery County man! Truly a great place to get away for a while. Some amazing views and locations offered. Sorry that you had to watch quite a subpar game but it had potential. Avery came out super flat. The fan turnout is a mystery to me since many have weathered that kind of weather for sports before but I guess they saw the writing on the wall. About 3 weeks ago I believed Avery would be able to keep it within a couple scores with Mitchell but I’d give Mitchell 5 TD’s over us right now. Didn’t help last night that one of our best linemen was out (he got beat up pretty bad against Polk lol). Hope you enjoyed your visit and hope you come again!
We will definitely be back to the area. Great people and so much to do. I feel like I finally understand the geography between Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock. One thing is for sure - driving is never boring in the mountains!
I wasn’t on here at all last week until Friday or I would’ve gave some more suggestions. When you come again float a message on the board again. Can give you a locals perspective on the best hikes, what more to do, etc. sounds like you had some great suggestions by others as well.
By the way. You should be glad you skipped on the App game on Thursday. I went and the result and weather combined made it a real downer.
