I really think it comes down to Starmount and East Wilkes. Man, I cant wait for these two to meet up. Expecting a barn burner.
Rams & Cards are the top 2 no doubt. I think Alleghany could be the sleeper team for 3rd.
Ashe County fared very well in this exact same conference just a few years ago.

Unless they turn something around up there, they haven't been good since they were in that conference. I think it is Starmount's to lose with East Wilkes giving them a game, but finishing 2nd overall.
I think West Wilkes, Ashe & Alleghany will end up 3-5 (in any order).
Can’t ever count Wilkes Central out.. Usually has the athletes to put in work… coaching cohesiveness maybe not so much… too many athletes to be perennially underperform/underachieve.
When Starmount and East Wilkes plays each other for the Conference Championship, most likely both will have only one loss. Plan on a barn burner!!

Conference play could be wide open. EW has had the most battle-tested schedule by far losing very winnable games against Hibriten and Mt.Airy and in which they (EW) had leads in both games but couldn’t close the deal. All the Wilkes County teams so far have played good so far…Elkin is 2-0, Starmount 1-1 against a tough non conference so far as well..Alleghany is 2-0 with surprising wins over North Surry and Grayson Co.Va..And Ashe Co. with a tough loss to Watauga who went deep in 4a playoffs last year… Could N.Wilkes be the sleeper? They have held two teams scoreless while scoring a combined 100+points in 2 games… they beat subpar teams in S.Stokes and S. Central.. but disposed of them the way good teams do and left no doubt…Wilkes Central showed BIG HEART in a 34-23 beating of N.Iredell in which WC was down 23-0 at the half.. but went on a 34-0 rout in the 2nd half for a convincing win… they also gave McMichael the business in a 30 pt blowout… Should be a yr of parity perhaps in the Mt.Valley 2a/3a/4a conference.. no gimme wins..very entertaining barring injuries to key personnel.. this conference could be interesting during every conference slate of games.
They also beat South Stokes 48-0. Good teams dispose of bad teams accordingly… so schedule not so tough.. but N.Wilkes response to the schedule speaks for itself..

SC is not good this year. Not saying NW is, but SC and SS are probably the two worst teams in that area this year.
Fun game to officiate because of crowd, but usually not much of game.
Regardless where it's played. That game should be a classic.
Based on scores the first two games, this conference should all have wins this week.
2 horse race between Starmount and East. Alleghany, Central, and North have been surprises with all 3 being undefeated. I think they'll be fighting for 3rd.

Not sure I would say any of the games will be "good", but I do think they will be more even.
North Wilkes/ North Surry could be an intriguing match up this year. Normally it would be North Surry by 25-30… could be different this year

Mt Airy with 5-6 turnovers and so many penalties you could not even keep count!!!
What is happening at Mt Airy is just not pretty.

NW QB is really good - was at last night’s game and was a much better game than the final score…well coached and the future is bright in Traphill

And still would have lost. Corvian wasn't star struck they went on the road and won three playoff games in a row. Trying to discredit Tarboro lol. Styles make fights you say well Corvian shut down MA offense but you refuse to acknowledge that. Y'all should be on the 3a4a forum anyway why you here
MA only put up 7 points on Corvian. Meanwhile, Tarboro laid 45 up on them & they couldn’t stop that offense lmaoooo. Mane miss me with that BS! Have a great day. I’m not debating nothing else about last years team
Yeah NWilkes goes as he goes. He is really shifty… crafty… strong… and has a pretty good take off gear. The line for North needs to find an identity and better ways to protect him so he isn’t having to improvise so much..They also have to have some semblance of a run game to keep defenses honest.. but that QB is very nice.. cant sleep on North Wilkes at all in this conference race.
Some of the turnovers were from the defense. I don't remember how many.
I think what hurt Mt Airy more than anything is horrible clock management. They were down in the 4th quarter and taking a LONG time to ever run a play. I couldn't believe what I was watching. They were playing like they had the lead. I would expect a LOT better out of the Mt Airy coaching staff, thats unacceptable.
Some good rivalry matchups this week. Honestly though in this conference every week almost feels like a rivalry.
