Big improvement from last game. Penalties killed us in first half especially encroachment that kept west drives going. Second half much better. Got back to running the ball
Horrible is a understatement having Mt Airy in third and long and missing tackles. If the defense for west can improve they could have a good season.
I don’t necessarily think they were bad , bears have a lot of weapons on offense, but a very in experienced line. Young qb done a pretty good job extending the pocket and get the looks he needed . Greg Greene was a positive addition to the Ma offense last night. Now for the bears defense, no pressure on qb from d- line put all kinds of pressure on the secondary. Bears are super strong in the secondary, but that being said you can’t cover forever before someone gets loose. Bears looked better last night. A few more changes and a whole lotta less stupid penalties and they are what they thought they would be. West on offense has weapons . That running back is nasty. Qb has a good arm . They will win their conference. Was impressed with 53 on defense, he was always around the ball . He should be playing in the granite city , his dad was a heck of a player for the bears in his day. Athletes on both sides last night. Both quarterbacks made good reads and were very good. Number 1 and 2 are good combination for West and never come off the field. Also thought the bears really had some good trick plays that worked.
2nd game into the season, missed assignments and missed tackles here or there is to be expected, you can coach that up. Same with the problems the bears are experiencing. Penalties, missed assignments, missed tackles, ( line play for the bears ) those are things that can be fixed . No lack of skill for ma, got a few things to clean up. Second half was a step in the right direction
Bears were 3 scores better than West. Bear D had 7 penaltys in 1st qrt alone that kept ws drives going. MA had a fumble and int id think ws had any. MA nvr punted i think ws did 4 or more times. WS good 2A team but MA if u take away all those costly penaltys and 2 turnovers wins by 21 no question.

Way to go @HoldenP_qb7 Previous passing record was set by Bill Wall on Halloween night 1969 against 4A powerhouse Pisgah. Wall led the Bears to a 42-14 victory. @GraniteBears were defending 3A state champions and finished the year with one loss in the finals to Reidsville.

Good stuff daddy doug, always appreciated. I think the underlying stat in that is Poindexter is playing behind a line that is young and developing. Kid is a baller!! Buzz I agree with that post , game had the feeling that the bears were on the verge of breaking it open at any second, then a penalty would come , something silly would happen. How bout Greg Greene, heck off a first game back after a long time away from football. We were close last night but by seasons end this team is gonna be every bit as good as we think they can be. All the pieces are there.

Yeah what do IK???? Anyone who watched rhis game on ma side and knows anything about fb seen the crap play calling it looked like we were runni g playgroung ball. And most in the stands was saying just that. We scored on trick play and throwing ball up. We had only 10 players on feild alot. And was lost on o and d most the night lini g up. We scored at will bc we have play makers that are unreal.
Buzz, you seem to have kind of done a 180 from a week ago? What did I tell you? The QB would be special. He's now set 2 records in 2 weeks. The offensive line is young, but super talented and will be fine, and Mt. Airy-in my opinion would improve at a rate greater than most other Single A teams. I told you the offense and defense needs work, but the O is fine. And finally, I stand by my Starmount statement. That's a 3 TD win for Mt. Airy in week 4 or 5 if Mt. Airy had their players back and with the QB and OL having some experience under their belts. It's starting to look a little bit like.....I was right. Also Buzz, the QB passed for even more yards against WS than the week before and Mt. Airy now has nearly 1100 yds of total offense in two games played. You didn't call this week playground ball like the week before? That's kind of weird. Defensively, Mt. Airy is also going to be fine.

He didn't call it playground ball this week because the play calling was a little more conservative. Ran the ball more this week. Much improvement but got to be more disciplined. Those 4-5 offside penalties in first qtr hurt
