He can't beat a Top 20 team, he can't beat the Black Bears under Bucky.
Now he is about to lose a few recruits to Ole Miss..
I thought this was OUR STATE... I am tired of all the ******** talking, ugly uniforms, and #hashtags.
Who gives a crap, when you can't win ballgames..

We should have beaten the Bears by two touchdowns Saturday.
I am tired of our crappy defense playing prevent and rushing 3 D-linemen.
Why didn't we run the ball between the tackles, all of this counter trap crap doesn't work.
We have 3 running backs, use them all..
Lineup and run the damn ball, then get the vertical passing game going.
We have our best QB in years, but we can't utilize him to his potential.

Get used to being beat by the Bears.. We will be lucky to win 6 games next year.

Go Dawgs....

Our pets heads are falling off!!

While it looks bad now I'm not ready to say we've hit our ceiling. I think our schedule really killed this team mentally this year. Prolly would have done us some good to have a Bama/AM/LSU somewhere in the first 3-4 games this year.

No matter how we feel now, I think the Egg Bowl will be a contested game next year in Starkville.

We have to fix our problems on defense. Scrap what we have now and install a completely new scheme.

Find a way to get the most out of Tyler. Shameful the way we are stunting his success, and ultimately ours by not giving him a playbook to do what he does best.

We've got some things to fix but I think we are in good shape for the future. We have redshirted a ton of players. Bring back a lot of guys in the trenches next year.

Concerned? Yes. Hopeless? Hardly.

No way. Mullen's potential will be reached when Prescott and Cord Sanberg are running the show, and we have a bonifide running spread attack humming along, behind a solid group of OL.

Really??...Did you watch any Bears football this year?

Go Dawgs....

Ole Miss is more explosive than us on offense. They are actually creative and look for mismatches and then expose them.

Ole Miss is more physical than us on defense. They play with effort and hit you in the mouth.

We should not have beaten the Bears....they are a better team. Just because their fans are a bunch of douche bags doesn't mean they didn't know what they were talking about when they pointed all of this out.

So Russell is the problem? Once MSU gets rid of him, Mullen will be able to succeed?

If that is the case, Im assuming there will be a bona fide QB controversy next year;

So you think the problem with MSU right now is the offense? You sure its not the defense that gave up 477 yards a game the last 5 games of the season?

As sad as it looked Saturday, we were tied at the half and should have been up by 10. Missed field goal and dropped pass that would have put us on the 1 yard line or maybe even scored. After that, OM stepped up the heat and we faded away.

There are some changes we would all like to see, but if Mullen could simply get the guys to play with relentless effort like he used to preach, we would have been more competitive against the big boys and would probably have beaten the bears. I guess the question is....why can't he get the guys to play with that effort anymore?

I wouldn't say they are the better team. They were Saturday night for sure. We didn't show up, coaches or players, to do anything except **** talk. You can look at games played and common opponents, but I still think we had better personnel top to bottom.

No. I said that's when Mullen's potential will be reached. I said nothing about problems. You're trying too hard. Mullen is an offensive coach. His defense will always be in the hands of someone else.

The difference in the game was pretty simple, Ole Miss got pressure with 3-4 man fronts and MSU didn't. That and we outrushed MSU by 200 yards.

Basically it was the 2009 Egg Bowl in reverse.

No way Cord Sandberg plays a down at Mississippi State. He has no ties to Mississippi and he hasn't even visited the campus yet; add in baseball and he's not going to make it to campus. But I do agree that Mullen excels with a physical QB that keeps the defense honest. Tyler is the best QB to ever play at state, but unfortunately for him, he's in a system that requires the QB to be swift of foot.

You are hot today. Not sure why, you won, should be a little more calm and assured of yourself.

Nobody in their right mind think MSU was better than Ole Miss in 2009. You are an imbecile if you're using the comments of internet homers to prove your point.

I wouldn't say that. The MLB Draft is a concern, for sure. But he's excited to play both football and baseball at MSU. He's probably more excited about Cohen than football, honestly.

Check the schedules!

Look I know nobody wants to admit that the Bears were right all along.....but....if you swap schedules with these teams we end up 6-6 and they are 9-3.

Sucks to admit it.

So, by objective measures OM would be the better team, but if you look at it a bit more subjectively then it's obvious MSU is the better team?

Yeah, nobody thought that MSU was better than Ole Miss on November 29, 2009;

No one pointed out that MSU played a tougher schedule than Ole Miss in 2009;

MSU homers did.

We did play a tougher schedule. So what? Worth maybe a win, maybe 2?

The margin was definitely closer than the UM homers wanted to think back then, as it is now. Apparently UM or MSU never really left the other in the dust like they wanted to think. I'm sure we'll continue this cycle while the Alabama schools win titles.

While I'm not sure who the better team is at this point of the season, I do think we should have won the game. They had 3 turnovers and 2 shanked punts that we didn't capitalize on and that falls on the offense for not taking advantage of the opportunities. What bothers me is teams like ole miss and vandy that show progress as the season goes on and we seem to either stay the same or regress.

I have maintained calm though the weekend of hell. My only contribution to the thread is our defense and defensive line sucks ***. It's not the players or talent for once in our lives. You figure out what the problem is.......crickets.

We couldn't run the ball, score when they gave us turnovers, or apparently cover anyone whatsoever down the field. We really should've been up two td's at halftime, but couldn't score on a short field after any to's. Nick Griffin ran once for about 20 and never touched the ball again. They blitzed an extra guy every play yet we never ran one screen, maybe one draw, or anything to combat blitz's. We apparently have no idea what halftime adjustments on defense are and refuse to change anything at halftime.

They were wrong then and UM homers saying those same things are wrong now. I would much rather have your 2009 season than ours and I'd rather have our 2012 season than yours. Congratulations on the win though.

As bad as the defense was, until the offense made it clear they weren't going to do ****, the defense was playing ok. We have a little bit of a talent issue on offense, but we have plenty of talent to take advantage of Ole Miss's defense. UM's DC completely outcoached us. That's not saying a lot because we have a serious issue with our play calling. Not sure if it's koenig or Mullen, but whoever is calling our plays needs to step aside. I'm assuming it's the OC, but Mullen's success with playcalling has all either involved superior talent at UF, or Hud at MSU, so maybe Mullen is not a play caller. We're actually not terrible at execution; that's why we generally did ok against weaker teams even without good playcalling. We just have to figure out how to address that.

Defense is unfortunately a much bigger problem. Unless Quay turns into a Fletcher Cox type player, we are about to find out how UM felt with Tyrone Nix.

Good Post...

We do not have the players on the D-Line for the 3-4, and our offensive play calling has been horrendous this year..
