I think it's a compliment to the job that Dan has done with Relf. I mean, if Mustain comes in, he's going to have basically the fall pre-season practices to learn Dan's offense. On top of that, Mustain really hasn't done much to back up his hype, granted I thought him going to SC was kind of stupid on his part.
Like I said, I feel really comfortable with Relf as the QB right now. He's not the best passer in the world, but he runs the option really well, and I think he is going to get better as a passer as time goes on. He also knows the offense better than Mustain would, and he's familiar with our personnel.
I'm not against Mustain coming on board at all. I just don't see him living up to his hype, and I'm not sure that he would beat out Relf. He may be if he's THAT good. But, at the same time, SC started a true freshman who didn't exactly set the world on fire last year, and apparently Mustain couldn't beat him out.
The funny thing about all of this is you have Newton at Auburn running Mahlzahn's offense, and possibly Mitch Mustain at MSU running Dan's offense. You would think that would be reversed.
