First of all don't get to enamored with the score. But at the same time we got our swag back. A couple of things I'd like to point out
1.) Bogey, chew and dawg1976 need to shut the 17 up and do us a favor and find another team to pull for. You suck as bad as the student section you mother17ers are the one thing holding our fanbase back decades! Get the 17 out and go pull for the bears!
2.) Defensively the difference between this game and the UT game (as they were the same game plans) was purely execution on the defensive line (Boyd I'm looking at you). I don't know what was said to him by Mullen but something lit a fire in his *** that I haven't seen all yr. Preston Smith too. We conceded the running game to take away the deep ball. Wilson ostensibly just like Bray (just more athletic). That's why he had about 5 rush attempts. The difference was we conceded the running game but the DL (after Dan's chat with Boyd) said "hell no!" The only problem I see defensively is sometimes when we run an X stunt our young DL get caught in traffic. Which means the spacing is off a little bit but can be corrected. For the first time Josh Boyd showed why he was a draft pick in preseason. Way to show leadership! Quickly though Arky was picking on Benadrick working the middle of the field making him make quick decisions. Next week he will HAVE to be better as he faces a dual threat QB.
3.) I thought some our offensive play calling early on was watered down. Arky showed single high safety and we run a draw? Umm that's not good play calling. I heard later that Tyler was supposed to check out of it into a pass but didn't. Maybe it was jitters or whatever but that was not good. Obviously it got better as the game went along. Next week we must have BALANCE in our play calling. I don't like Tyler throwing 35+ times vs. tsun. Nick Griffin is becoming who I thought he'd be. Before the yr I had him pegged as the starter over LdP. He is a damned beast in pass protection and showed me he's got some fire in him again! Loved it! I know I'm gonna get flamed but I don't care. LdP reminds me of Harvin. He us very underestimated as a receiver and has a similar frame.
4.) Don't get too riled up over the point differential in this game. This game changed after Mullen marched his *** or to Boyd on the sideline and lit into his ***! This defense followed suit and now I cannot wait to see what we scheme up against tsun defensively. It should be mostly 3 man prowler package basically what we did Vs. aTm. This time though it'll be better executed.
