I want more than what we are getting with Standsbury. I want a coach who can implement a real offense, not living and dying by the 3 ball. The Standsbury "Motion" is motionless. I want a coach who does not substitute like he is coaching a damn hockey team. I want a coach who has his team prepared to play and with a gameplan for each game. I want a coach who beats teams he is supposed to beat, like Rider, Richmond, WKU, Bama, Arkansas, & Auburn. I expect our coach to have his teams motivated to play in the BIG Games, like our last two losses this year. I expect a coach to be able to draw up and execute an inbounds play for a good shot. I want a coach who knows when to call a timeout to stop another teams momentum; see the Tenn game, Stans waited until 9-0 to call a TO, and then not until17-0, that is too long to wait. I want to see MSU make a deep run in the NCAA tourney. You Sheep can go ahead and enjoy your 20 win season, another SEC West Co-Championship, SWAT and Randy's records and the NIT tourney, I will continue to want and expect more from our basketball program.

people finally agree. I haven't posted anything negative about Stans in a while. You know why? I don't need to. The results speak for themselves and everyone is getting it.

....when you can come up with an original thought instead of repeating these same few thoughts over and over again.

Your attempts at fishing for responses on here are laughable at best

Would you expect more from our basketball program if Stans himself hadn't raised the bar? Make no mistake, the reason MSU was beginning to sort of be considered a "basketball school" was because of Stans' run in '02, '03 and '04.

Yes, Richard Williams did well in '95 and '96. But he never regularly captured all the state's elite talent like Stans' does over and over. We lost alot of good players during the 90s. We had it come together once, with the help of the best JUCO player in the land.

...it wouldnt bother me at all if he was gone after this season.

It also wouldn't bother me if coach34 would send fishwater99 acouple of new talking points since he obviously isn't smart enough to come up with some on his own.

Stans has done a crap job so far this year and I know alot of fans that are pissed at him but I don't know hardly any outside of sixpackspeak that want him fired right now. Most feel like a couple of changes need to be made (ie fire anassistant or two)to inject some life into the program but whether you like Stansbury or not he deserves one more season to get his crap together before State fires him.

know nothing about MSU basketball at all. I live in Colorado so most of my friends in this area obviously aren't State fans. They all say that our offense is absolutely terrible. Also, all of them criticize Swat. They expect him to be this dominant defender and rebounder which we all know he is not. He is a dominant shot blocker. They expect him to be semi-competent on the offensive end. His man usually has no trouble scoring on him.

The point I'm trying to make is that sometimes it takes an outsider to see the truth. We have all come to expect the Stans motion offense. We have accepted it as not only the norm but as an acceptable offense. So when we run something that you run in 6th grade basketball, we think it is the greatest play on earth. Other people see a pick and role and say "at least they didn't throw up a three." We are saying "Hell yea. Great motion guys!"

My friends who sat with me at every home game in college all see the truth. We still haven't forgiven him for the Butler game.

But here in Mississippi, most State fans realize that Stansbury deserves one more year at the least.I personally could give a crap if we look like Princeton on offense as long as we win and win often. There is not a team in the entire SEC that I think has a great offense. It is not just MSU. It is a lost art in the college game.
I can guarantee this though:many of those"outsiders" in the national media will slam us if we fire Stansbury after this season.

a lot, such as matchups, and timeout usage for starters. He also lets players take really stupid shots with seemingly no repercussions, as does AK. I don't think you can fire him yet, but no tourney next year? You should then. I mean that would be 13 years without a sweet 16 trip. I think MSU is better than that. Some of your fans don't, which is amusing. Definition of insanity, etc. He should have to hire some new assistants this offseason though.

Agreed. There are a lot of posters who think if we aren't running the same offense they ran in Academy High School for Slow, Short White Boys we aren't running an offense.

I want him to fire an assistant and hire an offensive guy to run that side of the court. I find it humorous that I can get under your skin so much with a post on the internet. Do you beat your wife and/ or children? Just wondering. Just because C34 and I agree on many things doesn't mean he emails me every day with the daily outline for Stans bashing. Have a nice day asshat..

...where I wouldn't mind seeing him gone, but practically, you can't fire him this year, unless there is a Cutcliffe scenario and he refuses to make changes. Then it would be ok.

We definitely lose some ridiculous games, but everyone loses games they should've won. Otherwise there would be 1 undefeated team every year, yet no one has ever been undefeated. If we had won all those games you mentioned we'd be 27-4, and we'd most likely be ranked top 10 in the country. We don't have top ten talent on our team, not even close (not including players who can't play for status/injury). It's unrealistic to think we should have won all those games. Rider was a complete joke for sure, but you're going to lose games on the road to teams who are worse than you.

it get tiresome having ppl who support Stans, no matter what, criticize ppl who want better. The worst is posting, "I bet you hope MSU loses b/c you hate Stans"

I doubt if there's anyone that feels like that-these ppl simply want more from MSU basketball and athletics. Some of the back and forths on this is looking Sherrill-esque.

And I don't think he accused you of wanting him fired this year. I agree with you that he needs to hire a new staff. Something has to change.

You are also a broken record. You say the same thing over and over and over just like you starting this thread.

I agree that you will lose a few games that you should not lose. But, by the same logic, should it not be reasonable to win a few games that you don't expect the win? When is the last time we won a game we should not have won outside of the SEC Tourney last year? Compared to the games that we lost?

Maybe they let the slip up happen at WKU or Bama or both. Butthen they got it back by beating Vandy or UT or both.(Which would probably have them much closer to theNCAA)

I wouldn't have a problem if theyequaled out, butthey're not. Its becoming too predictable in games against better opponents and way too unpredictable to my liking against inferior opponents.

Do you really think you get under my skin? Me laughing at your inability to come up with a single thought on your own doesn't mean you are getting under my skin. I think it is funny. And no I do not beat my wife or child, even though I have no idea where that would even come from. Now go find coach34 so he can tell you what to say next

Except he has. He went 14-16 in '99-'00. Thatsa losing season.
Andwhile a 15-15 season in'05-'06 isnt a losing season, itcertainly isnt a winning season.

Time for you toadjust your talking point.

Are you referring to a true "motion offense:? Like Indiana ran under Bob Knight? Like nobody else has run in the last 20 years? I don't disagree with you about our coach. I expect a lot more from our basketball program. But I think you may be a little too hung up on the term "motion offense". Look around the country and watch the offense that the vast majority of teams are running. It's a ball-screen, 3 point shot based offense. I hate it. ButI attribute this to the fact that there are very few true point guards and very few true post players. Roles of players, and offenses, have been re-defined.

I believe he was saying that he has not had a losing seasonTHIS yearthat would justify a firing like Croom and Polk did in their final seasons. However, only having two losing seasons in 12 yearsmakes it even more difficult to fire him.

...can't compare the sports. An NIT trip in basketball basically equals a losing season for MSU football.

Making the NCAA tournament = becoming bowl eligible. Very simple. NIT = absolute season failure when returning a veteran team.

Losing season in football does not equal losing season in basketball.

SEC West in football/baseball does not equal SEC West in basketball.

Why is this such a hard concept to grasp?
