We survived another off-season everyone! Football is back . This should be a good game. Evenly matched teams. SWE has upped its passing attack, and f course I expect SWE to pull this one out, but I can't overlook NC. The embarrassing way their season ended in the first round of the playoffs last year at the hands of West Craven, I'm sure they are eager to get that taste out of their mouths. Of course, we suffered our own shut out embarrassment in the second round vs Wallace-Rose Hill, so we are heavily motivated as well. From what I observed and learned during the pre-season, I think SWE has the capability of pulling away as the game goes on, but something tells me this will be a single digit game either way. Both sides of the fence, huh? Lol. Who cares? Football is back!

If nothing else, we should have this game based on numbers alone. Nash Central doesn't have many in uniform. Of course, that doesn't matter all of the time.

Our Jr QB is struggling. For the last two years, I've been bragging about how accurate he is, but so far tonight, he's 1-6. Two overthrows, and 3 passes behind the receiver. He looks great inside the pocket, evading sacks, but he hasn't been on the money at all so far.

Thank God for our defense, because we are trying tobe way too cute on offense. Coach Varnell is still trying to turn this program into a passing offense, like the one he coordinated at Rocky Mount High School. I can't imagine that ever working consistently at SWE. We're begging him to run the ball, but it's pass after pass after pass. Whenever we do run, it's for a gain. But then it's pass pass pass all over again. Our receivers aren't making attempts at the ball if it's not a perfect pass. And trust me, the passes have not been perfect all night. The offense doesn't even look bad. You can tell when an offense is bad. But the rushes are positive. Receivers are open. Things just aren't working. And the play calling is questionable.
The defense is laying wood. But we are being way too cute on offense.
