And yet when I say Pope had a good year last year considering the strength of schedule and all the injuries, I get told it was not a good year. But Bama gets a pass because of a strong schedule and no injuries???
I can assure you, I never said last year wasn’t a good year. In fact, given tge circumstances, Pope did an amazing job.
But, there were red flags that have carri3d over to this year in a big way.
1)Last year, his team kept getting behind early and had to play catch up. That's a serious lack of preperation.
2) Great one game, terrible the next
3) Rotating players and lineups like he does, works at Utah state, it doesn't work at this level and he's still doing it. Play your best dudes as much as needed together.
This year, I think he got overconfident in his offense and his abilities and he recruited dudes that don't fit his system. He thought his system was so good that he could get any guy to run it and that's just not true. Does he know that now? I'm not sure.
But, again, the job he did last year was impressive.
