With the FDU and Princeton upsets I’m noticing many people online using this to take (wrongful) shots at RU.

It appears that while those of us close to the program know it is much different, nationally, that is not the case.

I know we are close and this year was a minor step back but until we make a run in March people will not take RU basketball seriously.

Ppl are clowning RU?
Who gives a damn. We were a tournament team 3 years in a row and won a game as a 10 seed. There’s no “national sentiment” about us. NJ is a bunch of miserable f**ks. We beat Purdue a thousand times too
As for being taken “seriously,” we ‘be had more 5 star recruits visit us than in years past. I think we’re being taken seriously

You mean the unsigned classes?
If the perception was bad the four and five star recruits would not even give us a look
We have one highly touted recruit signed, A four and a five star verballed, and a good chance at another five star
If you want to complain about perception, wait till these guys chose to go elsewhere
And if they stick with us, you have no point

"Many people online".....

Maybe spend less time online looking for the opinions of randos?
I feel like I'm talking to my 12 year old niece sometimes on here.

The REAL question is if any of this RU roasting materially impacts our already committed top flight '24 recruits and Dylan's decision. I sincerely hope not, but I also hope Pike is strategically deploying some damage control/positive messaging to these kids.

Breaking: Dylan Harper commits to Duke. Cites disparaging Rutgers meme as deciding factor

You have to be looking for this stuff. I'm deeply enmeshed in college basketball twitter and nobody is talking about Rutgers. We won 19 games, just missed the tourney, and went out early in the NIT: a completely normal and forgettable "decent season" that absolutely nobody outside this message board is talking about.

Breaking news: A top recruit surprisingly commits to a school that wins big games when it matters and has a successful national reputation.

OP and many like him are bandwagon fans. They only like and support the team when they can gloat about RU to their family and friends and care so deeply about what others think of the program. If they have a bad season (historically speaking this season was still a solid season for RU) the support goes out the window. The truth is they just don't see the program for what it actually is.

We have an excellent culture built by a coach who is a great person whom many kids and their parents want play for. And yes these kids are starting to be high 4 star and 5 star players. We have a state of the art basketball facility and we have a top 10 if not top 5 environment in all of college basketball.

Good God have some perspective.

Yes, but not worth arguing with most knuckleheads here. They don't see reality straight. Rutgers finishes 9th out of 14 in extreme down year in Big Ten and the "bracket gurus" here still say we are "95%" in. A couple delusionals even said RU could lose every game even after losing like 5-7 and still be dancing. I point out they are wrong, and they flip out lol. Love RU, but objectivity here is sorely lacking.
