Here's something to ponder.. if the Knicks get swept or lose like 4-1, I think Thibs gets canned.

But then the question is, who is their next coach? And is it possible that NY could lure Hurley from Uconn? I think this is a possibility. A real argument can be made that ANY coach that wins back-to-back NCAAT has peaked, and will likely never get back to that level of success. Do Hurley, after losing in the 2nd round this year, might bolt to the Knicks and coach a near-contender level roster.

I bet they will contact him for sure.

Id love to see them hire Golden away from UF.

Watched my first NBA playoff game in years. It was a good game but I thought Anthony Edwards was supposed to be one of the next upcoming stars? Is that not the case? Very timid player and all he did in the 4th quarter was shoot two contested off balance 3s that had no chance of going in. One with the shot clock winding down and one a desperation at the end of the game. Was deferring to McDaniels

I was working on a work project so i just had the Gamecast on.. but it seems he had another dud of a game, more or less. This is the sort of thing that can separate the true greats. The difference between being a guy like Shai whose game is ready for the playoffs and he's mentally checked in.. or, you're kind of just another great player in a sea of guys.

40 points(career playoff high) 10 assists 9 boards for SGA
Only time I ever watch the NBA is when the Suns are good and I watch the playoffs- I have never saw an offensive player jump into the defensive player numerous times and either a foul is called on the defense or he gets a wide-open shot- if they let u do it not sure why everyone is not doing what SGA is

The vast majority of the incidents presented as dubious foul calls in SGA’s favor are actually fouls.

When it comes to notorious foul merchants/floppers, he doesn’t seem any worse than any other ball dominant star.

Some ****** calls against the Knicks thr last few possessions. Im also not sure why KAT was called for a foul there? Was he called for hooking?

Edit: well that next foul, you cant hold their hands lolol.

They would NEVER do this... but im seeing some real weakness in Brunson and his ability to be a title contending #1 guy.. theres been talk that the Knicks should trade KAT because neither plays defense. But im wondering if the Knicks wouldn't be better off with a less ball-dominant lead guard who can hit threes.. to pair with KAT and the rest of the Villanova guys.

I know thats blasphemous.. but Brunson is giving me some Harden-vibes, where he can score in bunches.. but plays little defense and his game just cant be trusted in the playoffs. And I hate that, because the dudes heart and clutchness is a 99-type madden rating.. but this is the 3rd game in this SERIES where the offense seems to flow better when hes on the bench. Hoping its just a bad matchup with their rival. But it worries me for their future.

A triple double with zero TOs is insane. That cant have been done often.

Imagine Sacramento fans watching this. They trade Hali in favor of Fox, just to trade Fox a year or so later. And they're watching Hali carry his team to a finals appearance.

I know a lot won't be crazy about an OKC-Indiana Finals, but I like seeing different teams int he Finals.
Same here. I think it would be cool to see them both in the Finals. I've been rooting for OKC all along and will continue to in the Finals if that ends up being the matchup. But, I think it's cool seeing Minnesota and Indiana here as well. And it's hard for me to root much against the Knicks even thought it's a big market team as they haven't been this far in a long time and they have Towns.

Fox played for them like 7 years but still point taken. They made the dumbest decisions ever. Instead of adding legit pieces to a core that could get to the West finals, they fire the coach who turned them around. Sign overpriced DeMarr Derozan who nobody wants because he can’t shoot, then trade Fox and sign another overpriced guard who can’t win in the playoffs in Zach Levine. A guy who just got seriously hurt and played with DeRozan on awful Chicago teams for three years. Just mind boggling decisions to and up and coming team. I can see exactly why Fox had enough. They didn’t even get a good package for Fox either because they had no leverage and let him get to the team he wanted as well. I hope Monk leaves for SA in the future to go win a ship with him.

Edwards is a great player, but his reputation is also a media creation of sorts. Due to his sheer athleticism, the media has been hyping him in a desperate attempt to create new NBA stars.

OKC is great now. Next year they get Topic without losing anyone. Dynasty in the making if they can keep their core.
Or they could package some of those picks plus a player for another superstar. They have 7 1st round picks over the next 3 years.

The people that want to see the jerseys in the NBA Finals won't be impressed with a Indiana vs Oklahoma City matchup. But the fans that want to see great basketball on both ends will enjoy these Finals. Haliburton can't possibly come close to guarding SGA, so they won't be matched up, but seeing them operate on the court at the same time is gonna be fun. That series is gonna be a lot of up and down the court. As must as it pains me to say, I think Holmgren is gonna be a problem.

And the Clippers traded SGA and a bunch more for Paul George- wonder if they want that trade back

Not worse than Rudy freaking Gobert. God what were they thinking. They traded like 5 first round picks and 4 second round picks to get the most overpaid contract in the league. Dude has 2 points and 5 rebounds in an elimination game. GTFOH.
At least Gobert played well against the Lakers along with Randle and McDaniel but Edwards has been talked about as a superstar and to me he's nothing of the sort.

The Thunder have ten first round picks between 2025-2029, and twenty-two draft picks total in those years.

Sam Presti has some more cooking to do.

By the way, Presti is only 48. He's probably going to be using his genius for OKC for years to come.

This. Highlights sell in today's society and he produces them. Thats why he's way more well known than sga despite both being small market.
I suspect the fact that Edwards is an American in an era when most of the league’s very best young stars are not (see Jokic, SGA, Luka, Giannis, Embiid, etc.) has a good deal to do with it.

The marketing industry dearly wants a new American superstar to hype, and he’s about the best we have to offer right now.

Depends on the trade. For example, would he trade 3 first-round picks and Chet for Giannis?
I've been wondering about Giannis to OKC. That seems like a win/win for everyone involved. Makes a ton of sense. But, it may come down to financials.

Yeah, he would do that trade. But I doubt the Spurs would. And they have Topic coming in already. He's a bad man.
What do the Spurs have to do with it?

And your repeated hyping of Topic seems a bit odd to me. A 12th pick (in a draft where Reed Sheppard was picked 3rd) who’s not yet done anything other than get injured doesn’t exactly scream difference-maker.

I was thinking Wemby when he said Giannis. So my bad.

Topic was chosen 12th on one leg. I don’t know about repeated hyping. I only mention him when the Thunder come up.

But he is a perfect fit for them.

Maybe not for other teams?

Well done, Oscar.

The wild thing is that there are still people who think this was just an accident. ESPN knew what they were doing, just like they do every year when they oddly forget about UK achievements. I believe it was last year they totally got the title count wrong.

Yeah, but you do so by saying things like “He’s a bad man” and suggesting he’s the final piece to make OKC a “dynasty.”

I’m just curious what that’s based on. Seems rather over the top for someone who’s never played a game who was drafted where he was in one of the weakest drafts ever.
