Good lord man, just enjoy basketball:)
I do like the game.
I played in high school.
It's been my game my adult life.

However, when the nba bowed down to china and refused to call out human rights violations there, and now attempts to lecture us on "human rights violations" here in the States....no, sir. You kneel during the National Anthem and attempt to disrespect the very flag that provides your freedom of speech, the ability to earn the exhorbitant income nba players earn, etc......no, sir.

I will not support that organization.

Where possible yes.

Sports are a luxury. We don't have to have them.
Eh I mean politics are ******** too and everything either side is telling you are lies. When it comes to picking a side that’s a luxury. I don’t need politics in my life. Sports are far more important for my mental health.

Caring about politics is just ridiculous anymore. Everyone thinks their voice matters and it doesn’t. Everyone thinks their favorite political candidate gives a **** about them and they don’t. That goes for both sides. I just do not give a **** about any of that anymore. Politics are bs and no they aren’t more important than sports for most actual sports fans. This country is self sustaining I do not need politics in my life.

I added more to the post but it wouldn’t surprise me haha! I do not trust this damn team. I have created a boundary where I won’t let myself get too caught up into believing they’ll win anything

who’s your team?

I have been able to figure out a way to let the 76ers losing not effect my mental health! If I didn’t figure that out I’d go mad. [laughing][laughing]

IMO, I think the NBA is a terrible product to begin with. They might as just play five min games because the game really doesn't start until five min left anyway. Now, factor in it's become more of a political activism league as opposed to a sports league, and it makes the product even worse. The only thing I'll watch is the last five min of game 7.

Same thing for me with UK. LOL, my god, every time we lost I get super frustrated.

I don't know why but I hate Houston and Phillys, not sure why. I know why I hate Houston, but Philly not sure. I think its more related to UK affiliation.

Want Davis to win it.. (i hated laker in the past but..) with Davis, I have to cheer for him.

It’s weird you say that because Philly and Houston are related to eachother in that Sam Hinkie and Darryl Morey are best friends. Houston doubled down on small ball whereas the sixers doubled down on having 10 million big men on the court together lol. Philly fans like Houston and Houston fans like Philly they’re like the versions of eachother from each conference and both teams are analytics driven.

I also love AD and hope they win it. Plus I like Lebron. I grew up a Philly fan because my family is from there so i will always be completely loyal to them though.

what’s funny is I never liked baseball as a kid. I also played just one year, tee ball, and didn’t enjoy it. Was always a big basketball player but when I reached High school, I stumbled upon a Reds game and just got hooked on the numbers and the history. I’ve rarely missed a Reds game since, that’s been 15 years lol.

I’ve played softball and have zero baseball skills but I love it. Still a decent basketball player but it isn’t worth the ankle pain so I retired

Got hooked early, since we were only 45 miles from Cincinnati, they had Knothole League Day every year for the kids in the surrounding areas and the tickets were free. Being in Crosley Field as a 9 yr old was a dream for me and we did it until I turned 13. Such a feeling to be at a live baseball game back then. But now I'm afraid the interest has died.

I’m watching the Phillies and the Sixers right now. This will be the first year since maybe 09 that I’ll actually watch a whole season.

I think part of it is because they got rid of TJ, and that made me grr...(that was while ago).

Also not a fan of Harden's game. I love ball movement more than the solo game.

Since I lived in Kentucky, I don't have a professional team. My hometown now is NYC...and I hate all NYC team as well. LOL

Maybe, I have more hate issues than anything else.

I think 76ers are great team, just needs to be patience and evolve their game a little more. I think Simmons needs to shoot more and Embiid needs to pound it inside more. When that happens, i can see them winning it all.

I definitely agree with all of that. The Sixers messed up when they went all in. Now they’re trying to correct some of those issues but it all starts with Ben being willing to shoot.

Are you talking about TJ McConnell?

NOOOOO, Terrence Jones bro. I remember he was coming up, but had back issues and then outside issue. Ever since then he hasn't been in the league.

Bomani Jones on his podcast (with Vinnie Goodwill) said today, that there are 3 elite stars in the NBA right now: Giannis, Lebron and Kawhi (and Durant when healthy). Notable omissions would be guys like Harden, AD and Curry.

But interestingly, what's causing media buzz, is that Bomani said Steph is a system player. That, while great, you still need to put pieces around him. That while he's better than guys like Kyrie or Lilliard (the later is debatable, IMO).. those guys will get you a bucket. They will pull something out of their bag and score.

Found it interesting, none the less. Who are the top tier NBA stars? That can pretty much win you a title on their own. I'd have to agree with that list.. although, I might just keep it to Giannis and Lebron at the moment.

I got out of sports early last year and am in marketing at a CPR instruction company. I don’t like the job (got an interview for another job Wednesday though) and the benefits suck, but it pays more and I don’t work any overtime, nights, or weekends.

Gotcha. What were you doing before?

working in sports sucks. I did it for almost 3 seasons in minor league baseball. Met a lot of fun people, moved around the country but the pay and hours were bad. I will never go back

They certainly didn't seem to speak up prior to the Floyd case this year.

IF they're so concerned about the community why aren't they speaking out on the breakdown of the family in both black and white communities?

Why aren't they using their platform to call out gang violence?

Why aren't they using their platform to call out human rights violations in China?

So you may forgive my questioning their "concern" for their beliefs.

I think it’s VERY easy to judge Lebron James. And you should, because if you care about child labor laws and slavery, you’d denounce him for his antics.

I don’t have a problem if someone wants to not care, thats their issue. Some people just want to watch him play. But if someone wants to stand against that and boycott his brand, I think that’s wonderful. Lebron is a bad guy, he makes a living off of grievance and child slavery, and refuses to speak out about real injustices in the name of his business. He’s fake, and he’s the type that needs to be shunned not supported.

And it’s not just him. Anyone who does business with China should be treated the same, that includes the NBA.

Did the same. Covered some NHL teams for a while for Fox, then worked as an agent for a while. Ended up as director of ops/GM for some minor league teams. Was fun, but wouldn’t go back.

Being the most boring sport in the world to watch doesn’t help;)
WNBA...pretty hard to watch.
in fact, I don't think I have ever seen more than a minute or two.

Now, I never will...they have decided that both teams will EVERYONE will WALK OFF the court once the National Anthem starts.

So this might sound crazy, but that’s not a bad solution. Nobody makes any statement... kneeling, not kneeling... takes all the pressure and spotlight off of the players.

And I would watch girls play ball a thousand times before I watched baseball:). Fun to play, boring to watch:)

Sooooo, that, is what happened.
Yea I mean they were up like 25 before they took out the starters midway through the 3rd. I’m not real worried about it. All of the starters and key bench players looked really good. Those 9th-12th guys on the bench are all g leaguers who were called up or from the trade deadline and it’s doubtful they play. The game was over once Simmons went out.
