That was quite a game. Whew. Celtics refused to quit but the Heat beat them back with their own personal super Herro.

lol Jefferson making excuses for Celtics. Tatum had a bad game. OK. For starters why is he crowned a king of anything? He hasn't proven he can hang at this stage of the game (mentally).. and 2nd.. this game should have been a 12 point win for Miami and was made much closer because of 4 awful calls to keep it close.

******** these post game interviews.. its the most useless thing on the planet.

"Tyler, in your opinion, what is it about yourself that you think made people doubt you at every level?"

How TF do you answer that question? Because he damn sure cant say the REAL answer, "because I'm white and I look like I'm 15?".. so he said something about his wingspan. Impressed in his ability to dodge these lame *** bait questions.

The premise of the question is ridiculous in and of itself. I’m sure Herro has overcome adversity, but who doubted him at UK or even in the league? I think that’s a false narrative perpetrated by these reporters to build the story line about him being a white American in an African American/euro league.

so satisfying seeing murray and herro lead their teams with high point totals in crucial victories of the conference finals. uk was point guard u and center u, now it’s shooting guard u with boston and clarke about to hit the scene. herro’s euro ankle breaker of kemba was a sweet play last night. another excellent game.

How is that a false narrative? The white American player in the NBA has long been in decline. For real question, when was the last time a white America made an All-NBA or All-Star game?

Edit: I looked it up and there have only been two white Americans to make an All-NBA team since Stockton in the 90's. David Lee made the 3rd team and Kevin Love made the 2nd team.

That’s revisionist history. He was doubted by a ton of people coming into UK. Hell he was doubted and dogged in high school. But a lot of people couldn’t even understand why UK offered him. Then in the nba most thought he’d be a role player at best.

Tatum had a bad first half. He scored 28 in the second half. And he was named Third-Team All-NBA

Where are these articles, sources, tweets, etc. that dogged and doubted him? I don’t care about what some random fans say/think. I’m talking about from the media. It’s possible that I missed it, but I don’t remember any legitimate reports of people questioning offering Herro other than reading posts from people on here.

Re-read my post. I never claimed that there are a lot of successful white Americans in the NBA. I’m saying I believe the premise that Herro has been doubted his entire career is a false narrative. If you’re saying he’s being doubted because he’s a white American, maybe that’s a largely unspoken opinion by those who don’t understand basketball or haven’t watched him play. It’s been clear from the time he laced them up at UK or stepped on the floor in Miami that he’s built differently. He was drafted 13 overall bc people that know basketball never doubted him.

They asked him the same question about 3-5 times...where does all this confidence come from?!

But I like how he answered his question you mentioned. You can tell that reporter was tryin to stir some ****.

What I mean mentally, is does he have what it takes to win that this stage? You can argue that for as good as guys like Giannis and Harden are, they don't have (yet) what it takes to overcome deep in the playoffs. For Giannis, it might just be a better PG and more time. But for a guy like Harden that's a legit concern.

And in fairness to Tatum, he's young too. But Jefferson was acting like Tatum is kind of that superstar already.

I must have misunderstood your statement then and that's on me. I was watching some of the presser from last night, and even he says that everyone doubted him when he went to Kentucky and then doubted him again when he got drafted.

On another note, Herro should be glad that Charlotte didn't draft him considering how the other white American players they got, or his career would be over by now.

Well being All-NBA puts one in the discussion, only 15 players get that every year. Just depends on how many superstars you think there really is.

Boston needs a respected veteran who can consistently contribute and knows how to win in the playoffs. Doesn’t necessarily have to have won a title (or multiple titles), but the team is pretty sorely lacking in playoff experience outside of what they have done in Boston seeing as how most of the talent is homegrown.

Gordon Hayward is the only regular contributor on the team who had won a single playoff series before coming to Boston, and he never got past the second round.

I’m sure that having a chip on his shoulder from believing people have doubted him attributes greatly to why he’s so successful. That extra motivation to get in the gym when you aren’t feeling it is what separates some people.

That's why I’ve been in ‘anybody but the Celtics’ mode. The Dookies and much of the media would be treating a Celtics championship like it’s a friggin’ Dook chamionship.
