If Autry is on there, they have him 2nd string with a 70 rating. I'm not sure if that's him or not. They have Morrow rated lowly and from "west hattiesburg". I didn't see any of our incoming freshmen like Brown(s), Quay, James, etc. that I could tell, and if they are on there, they are rated terribly. they don't have our new kickers. I couldn't even find Nickoe on there. They are to the point where they change almost nothing on an annual basis. You would think the least they could do is ensure an accurate roster. This is the worst year I've seen. The only thing you're really paying for on a yearly basis at this point is an updated roster, it needs to be right.

in about 12 hours you'll be able to download the updated rosters (including updated helmet and looks) from Operation Sports. it will have all coaches, rosters, assistant coaches, transfers, suspended players. basically will have ever current roster of all schools. pretty awesome to play the game like that, and its all free. don't' pay. just wait a few more hours and they should have it completed for PS3 and XBox360. here is the link to the forum.<div>

Heard mixed reviews and thinking about skipping a year. Especially if our roster is as terrible as y'all are saying. </p>

i hope so. that's obvious, but when there's no #5 on the roster, you know they left Nickoe off. Same thing when you can't find a Fr LB that fits either of the Browns' description.

if you wait and download the roster from the link i gave earlier, it will have all the current players and ratings. and to me with the improved passing and defense not having the "super" linebackers and DB's, its worth it. i only got to play 1 game last night after i bought it, but gameplay to me is a good bit better. good news, Ole Miss still sucks. ha ha ha

Am I the only one that thinks this was a better game on PS2/Xbox? The gameplay on the "next gen" consoles has become stale and monotonous. The graphics are obviously better, but the game is not. EA has continued to release the same game year after year with a new cover and a new pitch. This is my third year in a row I have not bought it. I started playing college football games with Bill Walsh College Football. I'd rather play a game with solid AI/Gameplay/Accuracy as opposed to something that is appealing to the eye.

Fifa and NBA 2k continue to dominate the sport titles on next gen consoles.

that I went back and just created a team named Mississippi State on the PS2 2011 game (with Tebow on the cover I think), and edited the roster to match our current guys. I like the game play better on it, and like you said, other than graphics, it's better on PS2. If only I could get PS2 to play in HD.

that they only care about accuracy for the big market teams like Alabama, Texas, USC, etc. And they almost never have true freshmen, redshirt freshmen, or transfers right since they mostly base rosters off the past year's stats rather than recruiting data or practice reports. Part of the fun for me is tweaking our team's attributes to what I think they should be based on what I know about our players going in, then adjusting them based on performance over the course of the season. Although I guess that approach wouldn't be much good for people who play mostly online or like the long dynasties.

I think the gameplay improvements, while not drastic enough to warrant purchase each year for everyone, are very noticeable over a span of several years. For instance, in my first game, Madden 2005, my biggest gripe was that the running game was pretty much useless because you'd frequently get brushed at a ridiculous angle by a defender and get sucked into an automatic tackle animation. Now, in NCAA 12, the the mechanics are fluid, resulting in a lot of broken tackles and being a lot more realistic-looking(from a physics perspective, not a graphics one). A huge difference I noticed from 2011 to 2012 was that the psychic defense was much less of an issue; option plays actually worked and DB's didn't make perfect swats while running full speed with their backs turned. This year, I heard that the freak middle linebacker that can react instantly to passes by jumping 10 feet in the air for the swat over the middle has been dealt with.

Like I said, I don't think it's worth it to buy the game every year, but I think it's definitely continuing to improve in more than just looks.

The issues outlined in your post above are accurate. However, that is spanning over a 7-8 year period in which very few changes have been made to the gameplay. Even the loading/introduction screens are the exact same this year. There have been minor tweaks to the gameplay, but nothing too noticeable. Each year, EA is making very minimal changes to the actual game and throwing a new marketing gimmick behind the sales pitch. There are still very relevant glitches. Because it is the only college football game on the market, EA knows they can release an "updated" product with minimal changes and the masses are still going to purchase it. It is practically the same game from the seasons prior.

As a consumer, I find it frustrating that a series with this much potential has become tired and monotonous.

I would rate this years version of the game: "Tennessee Football"

Those guys at Operation Sports do a great job of upgrading the rosters. Let's make a list of rating changes and player changes that need to be done and I will post it for one of those guys to change.

I'll start the list...

Add DT Quay Evans
Add Marcus Green at TE
Add SS Nickoe Whitley(Starter, returning from injury)
Add OL Tobias Smith(Starter, returning from injury)
QB Nick Schuessler no longer on team
Lower DE Shane McCardell rating
Raise DE Denico Autry rating
Lower CB Jamerson Love rating(4th string)
Raise CB Darius Slay rating(3rd string)
<div id="post_message_2043887974" class="postmessage">LB Richie Brown, should be white.
LB Cameron Lawrence, should be white.
-Junior fullback William Shumpert will sit the season out as medical redshirt with an undisclosed injury.
-Sophomore running back Nick Griffin has switched to No. 7.
-Sophomore tight end Malcolm Johnson has adopted the number 6.
-Senior cornerback Darius Slay switched to No. 9.
-Denico Autry got a new number before he ever even hit the field,
switching to No. 90 after spring practice in a trade with redshirt
freshman defensive lineman John Harris, who will now wear 99.
-Redshirt freshman running back Derrick Milton, has taken over the No. 28
jersey.
-A few freshmen of note: defensive back Will Redmond has No. 2, safety
Quadry Antoine inherited 29, massive defensive tackle Nick James will
wear No. 88 on his back, cornerback Cedric Jiles will take over No. 14 and speedy receiver/returner Brandon Holloway
will don the No. 80 version of the Mississippi State jersey.

If you take control of the receiver it's an automatic interception. Even on a jump ball with a foot height advantage for the WR. 98 DE can't break a 71 RT on a Hb toss to tackle the guy outside. It's stupid and not worth the absurdity.

up a little bit with the controls and how you handle your quarterback inside and outside of the pocket. Plus they added a really lame thing that highlights the receiver icon when they are open or looking for a pass. State is a lot worse in 2013 than we were in 2012. Outside of Jonathan Banks, Cam Lawrence, and Ladarius Perkins, the team is just awful. I believe our D-Linemen would get blocked by 100 lb little girls.

All in all if you were thinking about skipping a year, I would advise it. Just update rosters of 2012 to 2013 and the game is 99% the same.

The game the past years is very user skill based. The best players, like myself, play with the FS, turn into the WR every time to make a user catch, user picks, audibles, shifting guys around pre-snap, it's actually pretty intelligent.<div>
</div><div>Obviously the game is not perfect and their are flaws. Most notably the rosters are always not accurate. They don't have Nitkoe Whitley, Marcus Green (for the 5th straight year), or Tobias Smith. They haven't been creating true freshman every year from the beginning, granted they have slacked off more. The biggest qualm for me is not having Tobias or Nitkoe on the game when they have been in the game and impact players the past 2 years for us in real life. That to me is absurd, and shows the laziness of EA.</div><div>
</div><div>Overall, EA is struggling right now as a company in general. All you have to do is look at their stock price. They know they can half *** this game and the masses will still buy. Madden is where EA really makes their money, and they have noticeably put in a lot of effort into that game starting about 3 to 4 years ago. The gameplay is great and has been, however rosters are the main issue, and they probably got 90% of it right. They can't be exact, because they can get sued. I would assume that is the reason, but still, no excuse for not having at least Whitley on the team and Tobias.

The PS2 and XBox years didn't have nearly the depth of playing modes like Dynasty, online play options, ESPN radio, etc.<div>
</div><div>Looking at Dynasty mode alone, being able to negatively recruit against rival schools, developing pipelines, coaching carousel, on field performance affecting headlines and recruiting, and jumping conferences are big improvements over those years.</div><div>
</div><div>Update to say: I play on XBox 360. I can't speak to the quality of play on PS3.</div>

Previous versions of the game have had a 70 player roster limit instead of the actual limit of 85. To me recruiting is one of the more entertaining parts of the game, but with only 70 players you cannot bring in full classes without making massive cuts each year.
