Senior QB Nomi McMullens makes this team for real. He has gotten better every season. And he has some good athletes/ good speed around him at WR. Defense is solid. Senior LB Ethan Jackson, last season's leading tackler, is on pace once again to lead the team in tackles, and is also leading the team in TFL with 13 (already more than last years leader in TFL). Junior Chance Sutton leading the team with 8 sacks (already more than last years leader in Sacks) and also has 11 TFL. Team has already matched last seasons sack total (21 sacks through 13 games) in 8 games. And McMullens also leads the team with 4 INTs. So TJ has good playmakers on both sides of the ball, and some good leadership on the field and on the sidelines (Coach Cash). Thought last years team was really good, didn't turn out to be as good as I had hoped/thought, and wasn't sure this team was going to be as good as last seasons. But so far from what I've seen, we are in ways better than last seasons team.

Take that up with the NCHSAA...

TJ beat 2A North Lincoln to start their season. North Lincoln is now 6-2, undefeated in conference, with their only losses to TJ and 3A Alexander Central. And so far TJ has taken care of business and is 4-0 in conference.

North Lincoln was 5-2, 3-0 in conference. TJ was 7-0, 3-0 in conference when these rankings were released.

TJ has to go out and play well, and they can't make mistakes...but if they play mistake free football, the BC game at TJ won't even be close imho. BC lost to North Lincoln 20-6, and TJ beat HT 68-12 while BC only beat them 24-12. BC beat PLP 27-14, TJ beat PLP 49-0. PLP had 253 offensive yards (all rushing yards) against BC, they had 29 offensive yards against TJ (40 passing, -11 yards rushing).

MICs game is the game I'm most worried about. TJ has to travel to Mountain Island, and if healthy Mountain Island has some really good players.

Last year we lost to a team though in week 11 that we should have beat, so for sure TJ has to be focused on this game against BC, not looking ahead to next week or beyond, or anything (bad) could happen.

We tapped MIC out easy last year.

MIC and TJ are not the same...
And it's about matchups...TJ might not matchup as well against MIC as they might against Mitchell, Robbinsville, etc.
MIC might not matchup as well against Robbinsville and Mitchell as TJ might.

What you did to MIC last year is irrelevant to this season and to TJ

TJ is extremely beatable. They should have lost to Comm of Dav. COD missed a FG with their kicker who is real good and missed on 3 2 point conversions. TJ only beat them by 3..you do the math.

I hope we get TJ.
The CSOD game doesn't tell me much though. We let a couple of teams hang around that wasnt to good. Match ups are everything.

They should have beat CSD by at least 20. If you watched the game, you would know that that missed FG was from 35-40 yards out. They missed 3 2-point conversions because TJ made them miss them. And CSD scored 14 points of two fluke turnovers/fumbles. 7 points off a fluke screen pass on 2nd or 3rd and long. And they had a few calls/flags that went their way and really helped them out.

CSD has a pretty good offense...their defense is just just as bad as their offense is good.

And if you want to bring up "bad" games, let's talk about Mitchell. TJ beat Trinity Academy 54-14, and that was with playing JV players for most of the 2nd half. Mitchell could only beat that same Trinty team 44-25. But you know what at the time, after TJ played Trinity and I looked back at the Mitchell score, all I did was ask Mitchell fans about that game and why Mitchell allowed Trinity to stay so close. I didn't say Mithcell is extremely beatable, or even think it, and I believed Mitchell County Mountie (I think it was him) when he told me it was just one of theose games...Team didn't play as good as they could/should and the result was a closer game that it should have been.

I was at the TJ/ CSD game. Two of the 2 point conversions were simply dropped slants, wide open, by receivers who don’t typically miss passes. I wouldn’t say TJ made them drop those passes. The missed FG was from 45 and the kicker for CSD is collecting D1 offers as we speak. He doesn’t miss many kick. It hit the middle of the uprights from 45 yards out and bounced off. At the end of the day, there were missed opportunities from both teams but that’s football. CSD matches up well vs big and slow teams because CSD is fast. The QB for TJ is fast and a great runner. Hopefully he stays healthy rest of the year because TJ would be in a world of hurt if he were to go down. They don’t have much else offensively and TJ will face teams in playoffs that will shut the scramble down.

Mitchell played their worst game in 5 years that night. They couldnt snap the ball to save their lives. Plus they had 5 players from Sullivan East that had already graduated high school. I don't know if they played against TJ. It was indeed one of those nights...
