Nebraska, now 3-5 on the season, has already lost more games in 2015 than Pelini lost in any of those seven campaigns.

You are paying the guy $2.85 million through 2018 on top of it.

I'd hate to see him picked up at Maryland.

I never understood the firing of Pelini and hiring of whatever the name of their new coach is.

I recall the firing was about not beating the big boys. I went back and looked at Bo's first two years in the B1G, and he was getting scorched by the top teams. While he was still losing to the top teams in his final year, the margin of loss was not as bad.
2011: 9-4/ 5-3; Lost 48-17 to #7 Wisconsin; Lost 45-20 to #20 Michigan;
2012: 10-4/ 7-1; Lost 63-38 to #12 Ohio State; Lost 70-31 to #14 Wisconsin
2013: 9-4/5-3; Lost 41-28 to #16 Michigan State; Lost 38-17 to Iowa
2014: 9-3/5-3; Lost 27-22 to #10 Michigan State; Lost 59-24 to Wisconsin

So, it seemed Bo was closing the gap. It sucks getting scorched, but it seems it took Bo 3-4 years in the B1G to close the gap with the major powers.

It seems like they have taken a step back with the new coach--if they keep it close against Michigan State and Iowa, will their boosters and AD be happy with the moral victory?

I've always said I didn't get the Riley hire. I saw it as square peg round hole with Riley and his system, especially with Armstrong as his qb. To be fair it is his first year and his 5 losses have been by a total of 13 pts so you have to give him time. Thing is though even when he gets his time, I can't see him doing a better job than Pelini. At best he'll match those results and likely will do worse.

Pelini probably was let go for his personality as much as possible dissatisfaction with results (which is crazy IMO how can you be unsatisfied by 9+ win seasons and B10 champ game appearances). But the guy they chose to replace him with just seemed like a weird pick to me.

Bo has the diplomacy skills of a garbage man in a job that requires publicly representing an institution of higher learning. There are some schools that would put up with it because he is an excellent football coach. Nebraska isn't one of those schools, too much money and they care about perception.
