I never understood the firing of Pelini and hiring of whatever the name of their new coach is.
I recall the firing was about not beating the big boys. I went back and looked at Bo's first two years in the B1G, and he was getting scorched by the top teams. While he was still losing to the top teams in his final year, the margin of loss was not as bad.
2011: 9-4/ 5-3; Lost 48-17 to #7 Wisconsin; Lost 45-20 to #20 Michigan;
2012: 10-4/ 7-1; Lost 63-38 to #12 Ohio State; Lost 70-31 to #14 Wisconsin
2013: 9-4/5-3; Lost 41-28 to #16 Michigan State; Lost 38-17 to Iowa
2014: 9-3/5-3; Lost 27-22 to #10 Michigan State; Lost 59-24 to Wisconsin
So, it seemed Bo was closing the gap. It sucks getting scorched, but it seems it took Bo 3-4 years in the B1G to close the gap with the major powers.
It seems like they have taken a step back with the new coach--if they keep it close against Michigan State and Iowa, will their boosters and AD be happy with the moral victory?
