I have mixed feeling about CG being about to play with public schools as I do with CC. I think CG will be able to slow down NB rushing attack and will move on to the state championship game.

CG saw it last year. The key is for NB to not fall behind. I think CG wins by about 10. With that said, I would like to see NB win.
Correct, but it's a well oiled machine this year opposed to last year in year 1. Not saying the results are going to be different, we'll see. Going to have to control the game, milk the clock, and get a few to go our way. The progress made by the coaches/players has been pretty amazing.

Oh I understand. But anybody with a pulse could see this improvement coming with the middle school kids 2 years ago.
Yea it's a sophomore heavy team, they'll be even better this Fall. Big challenge ahead tomorrow, gotta stay close and see what happens.

Congrats to Gibbons on a hard fought win! We wanted to ugly the game up and we did, but fell just short. #2, #5, #23 and #95 are ballers. We had a ton of 4th and shorts/manageable but the CG D did their jobs. Our D played well, were in great positions to make plays but #23 and #2 are so elusive. Really hope you guys bring home the title next week and represent the East!
For my Bears, we return a majority of the team and will get some kids back that we lost this season, for this fall. We'll be back, Go Bears!

But did we say we were going to beat SC, SV and CG? We were underdogs in all 3 games. I believe that was you that said NB would be sitting at home after week 1. Congrats to Vance, tho. Can't wait to see who your team is in the Fall! Go Bears!
I feel you definitely have to tweak the offense. Reminds me of when Coach Nowell was at Pamlico. Struggled in the Eastern Regional. In the State title game Had to spread it out and let the best athlete take over to move ball. IMO you have too many athletes and they are being hamstrung with the triple.
Offense will be tweaked this upcoming Fall, IMO. The QB coming in can sling it in addition to adding even more playmakers into the offense. Plus, there might be an addition to the coaching staff that will play massive dividends, and I mean, MASSIVE. The D will also improve this upcoming fall with the addition of a few guys. Can't wait!
Who is this coach? The current staff has 5 guys in the building. Not the highest number for a 2a program let alone a 4A. No PE openings (unless they create one) or somebody leaves. They are not advertising any coaching positions on the any of the respective websites. Also is this coach going to run the flexbone. Are you saying that New Bern is leaving the flexbone? There a lot questions that come with your post.
I'll refrain from answering until it's official. However, the offensive philosophy will not change, but I think they'll add to the offense this Fall with more of a natural passer starting at QB. I think both sides of the ball will be much better in the Fall opposed to the Spring.
Hey NBBears, who is the incoming Qb that can throw you mention? Was he on the team this spring? Also, were there many seniors starting this spring? And last if/when you find the upcoming fall schedule, please post it. Thanks
#19, he was on the roster this year. Threw 3 times and all of them went for TD’s. Also had a 48 yard reception and rushed the ball a few times. Has a really good arm. They’ll lose about 8 seniors and will add several players that didn’t play in the spring. A 6’3 DT will help out KJ on the defensive line. Team will be Junior heavy this fall, going to be a fun next two years. I’ll post the schedule when I get it.
