Right, meaning he hasn’t hired anyone. If he actually hired someone, that part would at least have been released….no reason to keep that a secret.
Terry Smith shouldn't be a candidate. Terry forfeited his chance when he wore that pin. Penn State needs to move forward from the dead-end "409ers."
If I was Campbell, I would say f you Kraft. Should have hired me when I at least could have got more than 2 players in the incoming class.
Throw it all at Campbell. He shouldve been one of the top targets to begin with. Reese, Patricia, Hafley, etc I might have to start questioning my fanhood.

What I would like? I would like some "409ers" to acknowledge that after 14 years, they have been 100% unsuccessful in meaningfully changing anybody's opinion as regards Joe Paterno's culpability as regards Sandusky.

Campbell is the only one of them that would be a good pickup.

What does changing someone's opinion have to do with anything? Hiring Terry Smith should have nothing to do with Joe. I'm not saying he should be hired. But he should be seriously considered. And his ties to Joe should not be a disqualification.

Yes. I feel sorry for them having to endure regularly making the CFP playoffs but not winning the national championship every year.
I don’t believe he will come but Hafley is a good coach and recruiter. Being talked about for NFL HC jobs. Has extensive experience college and pro. He had BC bowl eligible 3 of 4 years and as BOB is finding out it is a heckuva tough place to win in the modern era.
You are aware of the who the two teams playing in the ACC championship game this weekend are, no? James doesn't need to win the Big Ten with VTs roster.
UVA's last 4 recruiting classes were 46, 70, 65 and 64. Their 2026 class is in the 90s. That is what is carrying UVA to the playoff out of the ACC this season.
I don’t know about you, but if I was stuck in Iowa and given the opportunity to take a more prestigious position in a top conference and double my salary (and likely have the AD over a barrel with other demands), I think I’d swallow my pride and take the job.
At this point what I am thoroughly convinced of is that there are no insiders. Just a lot of people with thoughts and opinion. Therefore I will sit back and wait for an official announcement from the university.
Nobody ---- not me, not Pat Kraft, not the BoT ---- thinks that Terry Smith should be automatically DQed because he "is tied to" Joe Paterno. Nobody cares that Terry Smith is a former JoePa player.
What DO we care about? That he resurfaced the issue as regards JoePa's culpability as regards Sandusky, unannounced, by wearing that 409 pin on National TV vs. Nebraska.
I was fine with talking about JoePa and Sandusky in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015. But that's all over a DECADE ago. Nothing good comes in resurfacing that issue 14 years after the fact now.

During this search I've taken some time to look at boards from the schools that some of these coaching candidates are currently - for the most part, the A&Ms Bamas NDs have shown no worry at all. BYU fans were freaking out, but seemed ready to rally the troops.
Iowa State fans don't seem to care - and not that they want him gone, they want him to stay. But it's a sense of "oh, good for him" and "that would be a great fit" "we got our money's worth!". Which seems so bizarre to me? Maybe that's why he's been there so long? No pressure. These people are just happy to be playing. Great if we win 8-10 games. There's no real drive for winning.

Can not let's those two get away, everybody at OSU said Hartline would not leave for PSU but he left USF come on. Kraft should hired Hartline two weeks ago.
