New coach

I’ve been following psu boards for years but I never post anything. I just heard something on the Sirius XM college football show, which I’ve been listening to intently all week, that made me chuckle.
Rick Neuheisel literally just said he’s so frustrated with the Psu coaching situation, that he’s about ready to jump in his car, drive to happy valley, ask for an emergency meeting with PK and say (verbatim)“Pat, let me do this. I can help get you out of this position you’re in. I got this thing.”

Dead serious. After all the play he’s got on these boards over the years, wouldn’t that be the most epic and comical outcome that could ever be imagined in this situation? Can someone who lives in town start canvassing the Tavern over the next couple days just to see if this has legs?
😂😂😂
I thought it was the Corner Room that neuheisel favors?

As an alum, you better believe Penn State owes me an explanation, especially if the university wants me to ever donate to them again…something I haven’t done in over a decade.
Kraft thought he had a deal in place with someone and they lied.

My son graduated from Alabama, and I have definitive proof it’s not DeBoer. Wanna’ know what it is?

His friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl heard that it’s not him.

That should suffice here.
Good enough for me. 🤪

By the way, we geologists at work ridicule the Oak Island gang as much as Kraft is getting here.
I’m not a geologist, but I’ve worked with - and now supervise - several geologists. A year or so ago, they pulled out a bunch of samples to test me. I did surprisingly well.

Giants fan here. Daboll is a totally incompetent head coach. Players left the Giants to flourish elsewhere. He made terrible in-game decisions .
Hard to make good in game decisions with terrible talent especially at the OLine. Not much works without a competent OLine.

I am old fashioned. I think that is a good thing, or I would be something else.

If Sitake gave Kraft his word or a handshake, and then went the other way, thats bad on his part. I know many of you think otherwise.

I have had men do a 180 on verbal promises they have made to me. I have always chosen to not do business with them again. Why? I don’t care what lawyers put into writing. Situations will always come up that fall in the cracks, and when they do character, trust, and past actions will cause good men to do the right thing. People lacking those qualities prove it by their actions. You are better off keeping them out of your business life.

Sitake was not even the first choice. By the time psu hot to sitake they were already scrambling. Someone else lied to Kraft. That is life. Get it in writing.

I don't know who the head coach will be, but I would not mind throwing a bunch of money at Daboll to become our OC.

No one been hired and not a single game has been played and you have already given up? Jeez…
“No one has been hired”….thats why it’s not looking good. Either they don’t want to come to Penn State or they don’t want to work for Kraft….either way, it’s not good.

FWIW, there seems to be buzz surrounding Matt Campbell.

I also don't understand how he wasn't a top 3ish candidate to begin with - Iowa State mightve been the worst program in FCS prior to him arriving. I think he's the best evaluator in the country. Add that to "unlimited" resources and LFG.

If he had a verbal agreement from someone before Sitake fall through, and he then proceeded to roll with another verbal commitment he really needs to be terminated.

Oh let me correct myself: Kraft didn’t hire a coach and publicly announce it before signing day. Given that several coaches whose teams are in the playoffs (Kiffin,Stein and Hartline) have been announced as the new coaches at other schools IF Kraft actually hired a coach whose team is in the playoffs why is he the only one who hasn’t announced who the coach is?
He didn't hire anyone because he was still trying to hire sitake.

What happened to "Show me the money!" Chesney took less money because his agent said no? Yeah right. If true, Chesney needs to get a new agent like Jerry Maguire.
He did not take less. PsU never offered. Chesney took the best offer while Kraft was dicking around.

If the search is as bad as being reported then he should absolutely hire Terry. That said unless he has someone who's hiding in the shadows for some reason

It's hard to believe Pat didn't have a better plan. If you're going to fire small game James then you have to be prepared with an available coach. Just as with playing availability is the most important thing. We can want a coach all day long but if he's not available and willing who cares.
Pat has done a horrendous job with this search and has made us a laughingstock. And maybe it was best to fire small game James at the end of the year. We should have let him shrivel up the rest of the year and then fired him I guess.
Maybe, just maybe, there’s a chance that this situation will lessen the calls to fire the coach after every bad play call because we’re seeing it’s not always easy to just get a new guy.

Things can always be worse. We could be Virginia Tech. Those poor bastards don’t know what they are in for.
Their best recruiting class ever, likely one of their highest win totals ever, and a good possibility of making the CFP in year one…yeah, those port bastards.

No doubt, Campbell should be very familiar with what will be required here after turning ISU into a perennially solid winner. His track record reflects that he is an exceptional judge of unrecognized talent and could be just what the Doctor ordered for PSU (these people who think were just going to hire a splash coach and elite recruits from hs and the x-fer portal are just going to come flocking are out of their naive twit minds. Somebody like a Campbell is going to have to build a winner (starting immediately in 2026) from the scraps leftover.... but there are so many players available that there is talent there if you're willing to do the groundwork (scouting) to unearth it.... Campbell has a tracmrecord of finding unrecognized talent.
I would hope he sees that with as well as he’s done, he will likely always be unable to ascend any higher at that school and would be willing to go elsewhere to give himself a better shot at getting to the next level.

It’s easy to get a new guy if the AD is not Kraft. You or I could have done it.

I still don’t understand how so many people believe the BYU guy was definitely our guy without any evidence other than some know it alls in the media "reporting" he was. We’re all being manipulated by individuals who not only make money from it, but are also very good at it.
Because even though the media isn’t always reliable, they usually don’t make things up out of thin air as well. Then throw in that the BYU coach has pretty much confirmed that there was discussions, I doubt he’s that much of a liar.

It seemed easy enough for the other dozen or so P4 schools to replace their coach. We seem to be an outlier.

Oh yeah? My sources tell me that what we really should be focused on is the Loch Ness monster, or Bigfoot (or is it Big Foot?).

I should warn you that I’m off today, the weather sucks, and my wife is out of town, so I have all day….
Shouldn’t it be Bigfeet or Big Feet ? Or is one of the feet normal sized ?

I think there are a few with inflated expectations, but most people simply expected that we'd sign a normal coach in the normal timeframe. If we signed (say) Chesney but announced on Sunday or Monday, some people might grumble but that would have been a reasonable outcome.

Most sensible fans weren't expected a hire like Meyer or Freeman.
Um, many on here were against hiring Meyer (doesn’t know how to use NIL) and Freeman (he hasn’t been that impressive at ND). So I would say there’s been a ton of unrealistic expectations.

You are both wrong. Kraft is very close to finding out who actually shot JFK, finding Jimmy Hoffa, and who is actually buried in Grant's Tomb. I have impeccable sources, which of course I can not reveal.
Heard Hoffa was getting a raise too.

Let me give it a shot. The poster was saying that many people over the past decade have stated that they are no longer donating to PSU/Athletics in hopes the lack of donations would somehow influence what is happening at PSU/Athletics that they didn't like. However, over the past decade PSU/Athletics is still going strong and they are doing whatever they want regardless of the lack of donations from said posters withholding their donations. Secondly, unless you are donating a substantial amount to PSU where you may potentially have some influence, say $100K or more or some sort of endowment, then you really have no influence and your words are pretty much empty threats and meaningless to PSU/Athletics. Lastly, from what I understand about philanthropy at PSU, it is mostly the people that give the least that complain the most. So STFU - "posters words, not mine" - Hope this helps. 🤑 🤷‍♂️
And yet they keep asking for $

Kraft thought he had a deal in place with someone and they lied.
Please add:
1. He planned to let it go past the recruiting signing day.
2. He had nothing binding in place
3. He had no contingencies if something changed
4. He had also already gone past what made sense for the 2026 class
5. Rumor said he turned down a viable candidate prematurely.

Hence, he is an idiot.

And I’m sure some current Penn state players are coming via portal after this circus
