The current coach has Diego Pavia. I would not under estimate his impact.Anyone that has won 9 games at Vandy has indeed accomplished great feats, no argument there.
However, the current HC has gone light-years beyond what BGJ did.

That's a highly plausible take, IMO. I bet Kraft made a lot of calls in this vein. It's a low-pressure way of kicking the tires on the most accomplished coaches out there. Ex: Meyer and Saban. And if the convo turns to them being interested, then you explore it.I don't think he was ever coming here. It's more likely he talked to Kraft as a consultant and expressed his disdain for how NIL is structured and gave PSU some names of candidates he would consider if he were making the decision
And he very well could be going to the playoffs, further complicating the ability or willingness we have to completely destroy our recruiting and portal classes on the hope and prayer he says yes. Personally, I do not think he or Elko are worth that gamble.True, though Brohm does not appear to belong to this group. He does not appear to be a "next higher rung is better' kind of guy. A multimillionaire driving a 2004 Honda Accord for 20 years is telling. Of course, we are completely speculating but Brohm is from Louisville, his and his extended family are from Louisville, he played at Louisville and is making good money at Louisville. And though I grant you that he is ultra-competitive and tough as nails (you should see the clip of him almost getting decapitated during a game and him returning the following game) his very competitive "alpha male" psyche may very well translate in a a desire to will his alma mater to the pinnacle of the sport. That would truly be drive. In any case, simply spitballing over morning coffee.
Manny would be a natural.Diaz should be near the top, i don’t understand the fascination with Elko at all. Manny has proven to be a winning head coach, great defensive coordinator and fits the Penn State culture perfectly. I don’t know how Elko brings anything more to the table than Manny? Hartline can bring skill position talent but we don’t know how he’ll handle anything else. Lea, Key, Campbell are all guys who I’m sure will win the press conference but not sure they move the needle on anything.
One recruiting class in exchange for the right head coach is a trade off you make everyday and twice on Sundays. And he very well could be going to the playoffs, further complicating the ability or willingness we have to completely destroy our recruiting and portal classes on the hope and prayer he says yes. realistically who is the guy that is the guy that is coming to PSU?One recruiting class in exchange for the right head coach is a trade off you make everyday and twice on Sundays.
That’s especially true in the portal era where the right guy will be an immediate magnet for transfers who are likely more ready to contribute.
Yes. PSU needs someone like Brohm who was a QB, has a distinct offensive philosophy, and can recruit and develop QBs. If you bring in top end QB talent the rest follows. Unfortunately, I do not see him leaving Louisville.
Brohm is a smart guy and is making 6 million dollars that could move to 13 million at PSU. He also understands that the ACC is a one bid league (most years)! The highest ranked team that was released last night from the ACC, wasn’t in the top 12.I like the 2004 Honda story. It says something positive about him to me, but I can't really put it in words. Maybe that he's a no BS guy?
Exactly, the most overrated, over-talked about aspect is where a coach grew up or went to college, or that he’s at his Alma mater. I don’t think any of that matters much. The Alma mater thing didn’t do Scott frost any favors. I don’t know why Brohm would be unattainable just because he’s at Louisville. Going from Purdue to Louisville is understandable, but when PSU offers, I don’t know how strong that loyalty would be to just turn an opportunity like that down ?Brohm is a smart guy and is making 6 million dollars that could move to 13 million at PSU. Don’t count out the motivation to be one of the highest paid coaches AND be able to compete every year for a championship. It’s not going to happen at UL.

PS has 1 playoff appearance in the last 40 years. Not like they have been a playoff machine like some other programs. If the CFP had not made the "Penn State Expansion" last year we would not have made even that one.Don’t count out the motivation to be one of the highest paid coaches AND be able to compete every year for a championship. You guys should get your head out of HV every now and then. It ain't the Camelot you think it is.
The 12 team playoff has been going for 1 year DA, not 40 years. The BCS crap and 4 team playoff system is over if you haven’t been paying attention..PS has 1 playoff appearance in the last 40 years. The playoffs did not start forty years ago, which means that they would've started in 1985. In fact, they started in 2014. What's more is if they had started forty years ago and just included four teams, PSU would've qualified in 1985, 1986, 1991, 1994, 2005, and possibly 2008, which is more than one time.PS has 1 playoff appearance in the last 40 years. I saw a really nice private jet take off from State College yesterday headed W/SW- who’s on Flight Tracker these days?
There was one from State College to Cobb County GA outside of Atlanta the other day.I saw a really nice private jet take off from State College yesterday headed W/SW- who’s on Flight Tracker these days?
Well, that could be a Key development...There was one from State College to Cobb County GA outside of Atlanta the other day.
In 2025, I would imagine initial interviews are zoom rather than in person. Perhaps second or third interviews are in person.Well, that could be a Key development...
Seriously, if that flight involved Key, and that jet went into Kennesaw, it makes sense. Don't know where Key lives, but the northern Atlanta suburbs would be a good bet.
That's the only thing that will be completed by air if they hire KeyWell, that could be a Key development...![]()

Or it could just have been a good excuse for someone to get in a round of golf. The weather down here has been gorgeous this week. Temps in the 60s earlier this week, low 70s today. Not a cloud in the sky. The real head scratcher for me is why Key would want to leave Georgia. Money ain't everything. In 2025, I would imagine initial interviews are zoom rather than in person. A friend of mine didn’t want to move to Milwaukee but he got a significant promotion, compensation and it aligned with his career goals and objectives.Or it could just have been a good excuse for someone to get in a round of golf. Maybe he doesn't like 90-100 degree days during the summer? Main reason I'd never move south. I'm taking cold over heat everyday.Or it could just have been a good excuse for someone to get in a round of golf. The weather down here has been gorgeous this week. I think he's all in as a Pro coach, but I could be wrong.Brady to LSU?
- 300 fave, but no college experience.Brady to LSU?
He spent a very important year with LSU- 300 fave, but no college experience.
Gets credit for Allen.
I doubt they do much by zoom but who knows, more likely they do those to satisy title ix requirments. They do their research and zero on their man, meet with him talk things over. the only reason for a second interview is to nail down the contractIn 2025, I would imagine initial interviews are zoom rather than in person.
