I am curious as to the timing of any announcement. Is it the end of the regular season? After a bowl game or after the championship game? Would a coach of a playoff team announce before they play their final game?

If you believe the guys reporting on the team, aim is weekend after Thanksgiving and the following weekend at the latest.

Brohm better hurry up and sign that extension before he loses another game. Albeit not really his fault his 2 FG choked
His team played undisciplined and sloppy at the end and took dumb penalties. That’s a reflection of the coach. Brohm has never enamored me. He’s a mediocre coach who occasionally pulls an upset then falls on his face later in the same season. Meh.

Urban Meyer for 10 million per year for as long as he wants to stay.. Hire Hartline as the OC and the next head coach in waiting.

winners win
Lots and lots of smoke on Kiffin being off the FLA. Supposedly (supposedly) he has agreed to be their next HC.

Pat Kraft might get fired before he even hires a coach. This is turning into a mess - how can your top targets be winning coaches at equal to better programs?

James Franklin to Eli Drinkwitz? Might as well start recruiting the next coach now because we’ll be right back to this place in four years.

At this point, you have to go Chesney or Hartline to at least make it seem like you’re hiring off potential.

Woof Kraft.

Our insiders are spewing things out of their *** right now for views and listens.

Texas A&M insiders said all along his agent was playing the game because Elko was in extension talks with the AD.

And look what happened.

Kraft seemingly never had a plan. And we’re about to settle for an extremely high risk candidate or a candidate that is probably another James Franklin or a slight downgrade. This wasn’t the year to go coach searching unless you had an in.

Welcome to Florida, USC, Nebraska, Auburn, etc.

Chesney may be a great hire, who knows. However, if Franklin lands at VT, which sounds inevitable, he would recruit circles around Chesney in our recruiting footprint. At least until Chesney gets his footing under him and has some success.

Hmm. Welcome to what some of us have been saying from the day Franklin was fired. You only fire him if you have a plan and a possible sure fire hire in your back pocket. Kraft may have committed professional suicide out of pride. Pride comes before the fall. It did for Franklin, it may soon for Kraft.

There was always a plan and Elko was never using us. He didn't need us for an extension.

Why are people making Franklin out to be an elite recruiter? He's not going to be as successful at Va Tech as he was here....and most of his classes here were mediocre given the status of Penn State.

I swear people just want Penn State to fail

He was personable and a great recruiter. He is respected. Also, when everyone has the same agent they all pull for each other.

Is that so? Chesney is at JMU in the middle of the DMV. He certainly has just as many high school contacts as Franklin.
I think it would come down to the brand, PSU vs VT.
What has me concerned is VT will now get a jump on poaching PSU recruits and perhaps a few coaches (Howle & Poindexter) and filling their 2026 recruiting class.
If Kraft doesn't go Chesney, he better get a homerun hire that can regather the class and heavily recruit the portal. Time is of the essence.

My personal opinion, though Chesney is risky to many on the board, he has lots of high school contacts in the DMV & PA and the PSU brand is stronger than the VT brand. Chesney goes into those schools with the PSU brand.

Chesney is unproven at the big boy level. His hiring would be a big roll of the dice. Franklin has 45+ former players in the NFL and was very successful recruiting the DMV at PSU and many of those players expressed disappointment when he was fired. That PSU vs VT comparison only works if PSU is successful and Chesney has no background success in the P4 level to use for recruiting. Franklin could convince them to stay home and he could get them to the NFL. For all we know, Franklin may have several PSU players follow him wherever he lands. TBD. Also, the ACC is much easier to win than the B1G. He will have success at VT. It’s a rebuild, but that’s what he is good at.
