Pretty much anyone who is worth a flip has Sexton . I couldn’t find a complete list compilation, but Saban Smart Kiffin for starters . Over 1/2 of the SEC coaches . He has a lock on the top talent .As the behind the scenes specifics don’t become public, knowledge is power. He has his hand in so many pockets that he can move the needle all by himself as he knows what’s really happening. That’s the scary part of being on the opposing side . Possibly the most powerful man in college football .

He probably did along with most Penn State fans it seems. So many people clamoring for Elko or Deboer or some other fantasy “home run” when Kraft should have been focused on the Brohm/Chesney/Campbell tier.
The whole situation is bizarre.
I think the chances of it being option 1 are close to zero.

I'm still shocked over Cignetti not taking it. Staying at Indiana over coming to Penn State? Ever since that, we're stuck standing around with our mouths open. Lost to freakin' Indiana. That almost makes the game unrecognizable anymore.

How bout just give it to Terry for 1 year and try to let him salvage something... anything. This revolving carousel of coaches is gonna be a thing every fall and maybe just punt on 2025
Probably not. At this point maybe Hartline is a chance worth taking, or throw some money at Chesney. I'm more of the young up and comer kind of guy that

Cignetti was groomed by his late father to hate PSU. It's a long story involving WVU.
Sexton isn't going to keep someone from a potential $10 million job at a top program.
That's fair...but it will likely take a couple years to fairly judge it. If it's Smith Rhule or Diaz then I agree because that screams panic.

I did not graduate from PSU. Only sent my daughter there and supported the school since the 70's. I have not seen such incompetence at the highest levels of a major university in the last 20 years compared to what I have witnessed at PSU. This latest FUBAR essentially allows the AD to be a one man show in conducting a search (there was no "search committee" that I am aware of) and now that he has screwed this up it is evident there was no plan to maintain the recruits and now it is more evident that his plan to conduct this search was also lacking. This is an indictment of the university president, the BOT and anyone else who should be concerned about the most important hire the university ever does.
I've known Cignetti since we were teenagers. PSU would be a last resort for him.

No chance. If you hire Smith you go all or nothing. You aren't getting any recruits if your coach has a one year contract.
