I know who exactly who you are, have smoked your private stocked cigars, you parked next to me or near me but am blown away that you think painted on battle scars are a good idea and a badge of honor
Painting fake "battle scars" on your helmet may be the single lamest thing I have ever seen. What's next. should our jerseys and pants have some fake mud stains on them?

The kids love our unis. It's the old farts that complain every single day. Bring black and white tv back too .
How old are you RUbacker? and why can't I say the uniforms are fine just let me read the names and numbers, why does that upset you?
For the record, outside of a handful of posters like yourself it's pretty universal everyone likes the whites and the blacks, but deservedly so think the reds suck, old, young in-between, you're in the great minority if you like our home reds…quite simple.

I don't see anyone stating that the battle scars on our helmets are a badge of honor. They aren't. They're swag, a fashion statement that most people like.

Obviously you have no clue. You only earn scars in games. I guess you can't figure it out as you never played. I don't know how to make you figure it out. Old/young doesn't matter. If you go into the locker room with REAL battle scars you were looked up to. Painted on scars are being mocked by opposing team's
Again, don't take my word for it. Ask O'HARA, ask Eric, ask BL, off record about FAKE battle scars
Bus,
It's great that you played, but talking down to people who didn't play college football just seems small. I played a different div 1 sport and I can tell you we didn't care what we wore. We cared about winning only.

Actually, the scars are irrelevant, contrary to your statement very few like or dislike the scars. People like the chrome helmet, they'd like them with or without scars, and would probobly not even notice with or without.

Pay the big $ for the sideline pass with the Letterwinners. You'll be laughed off the field.
Helmet battle scars are earned and a point of pride of linemen and linebackers.

The big bucks? It's only an extra $100 donation a year for a letterwinner to get the sideline pass.

No. Our helmets aren't chrome. They are unlike any other helmet & an exclusive finish for us. From HGI:

Rutgers Battle Scar helmet featuring a matte silver finish with textured battle scar HydroSkin®.

Current players and ex players do no not want FAKE battle scars on helmets. They are earned not painted on
Who are speaking for? It's designs like this that catch the attention of recruits and players. It will help the program get in the front door with recruits. From there it's up to the coach, but at least the team is in the door. Get with the times. This isn't yesteryear anymore.

You can't touch a player with your helmet so I don't know how to get a "quality" battle scar is. I get the pride point though. But that is why my WISH is for the Chop Helmet Sticker.

Maybe in high school. In college and the pros the helmets are reconditioned every week. No evidence of battle scars on any helmets over a full season.

I've been coming to Rutgers football games since I was around 2. I like the 2011 uniforms better than the throwback uniforms, because I pay enough attention to the uniforms to notice the lack of block R on the white pants. I'm helping create a history course on Rutgers history. I know two separate letter winners. For god's sake, drop the holier than thou attitude.

I like this helmet. I DID predict it (http://rutgers.forums.rivals.com/threads/traditional-uniforms.36095/#post-701657)

And someone will complain about everything. In fact, if you respond negatively to this post, you'll just prove me right.
That is not matte black.

That is a nice looking helmet. The all white and red R are great too. I dont think the battle scars are meant to replicate "stick marks" as we used to call it (at least in the 80s) which were the hallmarks of the players that made a lot of hits and tackles - so the negativity on that basis seems silly to me. These are just a fashion statement based on a Knights armor. They are unique and look sharp in my opinion.

Couple years younger than you. I'm not referring to the red unis I'm responding to those that hate our unis period . Red is not my favorite and I can't read the names either. Those are adjustments but we can't keep complaining about going back in time .

I don't think the battle scars are supposed to be painted so As to represent scars from playing.

I think they're supposed to be in the theme of a knight and jousting and having scars on the helmet from jousting and swordplay

Exactly. Some don't get that.

So, having seen them in action, what does everyone think? I loved them, Thought they looked extraordinarily slick, just enough shine.

I liked the helmets last night. We looked good. The biggest issue remains reading the numbers on the new red jerseys.

I love the current white uniforms.
