Not a fan of it either but will it get a serious consideration? In this day of everybody gets a trophy who knows what garbage will get adopted. Local park district still keeps score but there is only one combined score...WTFLOL Chicago Christian again on the wrong end of something awful
1-32 Absolutely. But this would also cause some very long trips so I think Wednesdays would be out. But make it an option. How about 1-32 all 8 classes and play first round game on Wednesday

Did you just enter the Way Back MachineHow about 1-32 all 8 classes and play first round game on Wednesday
100 percent...tinkering this way still does not address seeding issues. The top teams will not get a bye.So Whitney Young would get a bye while waiting for the winner of the MC - PC slugfest? No thanks.
Any Wednesday games would mean no travel, so there goes any legit 1-32 seeding.
I guess we just need to create a playoff committee to seed all the teams properly. Thank god IHSA football makes so much TV money they can pay to have 12 morons sit in a room for 2 days and pick all the top teams from classes 1A-8A. Cant wait to see this and all the match-ups on TV next fall. Oh wait...
What if I told you that device you are typing your posts on had the ability to rank teams?
State Playoff Schedule
Private Small 11am Friday
Private Big 2pm Friday
Class 1A 5pm Friday
I was kicking around something like that the other week but two whole private/non-boundary schools is actually kind of a lot to fill.5 classes all Public
1-32 Seeding
2 Private classes (non-boundary) classes (Small/Big)
1-32 Seeding or 1-16 depending on numbers
9 week season
Playoffs as they are currently except higher seed receives home field throughout (they earned it)
State Playoff Schedule
Private Small 11am Friday
Private Big 2pm Friday
Class 1A 5pm Friday
Class 2A 10 am Saturday
Class 3A 1pm Saturday
Class 4A 4pm Saturday
Class 5A 7pm Saturday
That is FAIR. No more multiplier, no more public vs private (that can be done in regular season if scheduled).
THE END
That one small thing is all you took from my post? Schedule it however you want - the times aren't important. It's usually colder at night so afternoon would be preferred I would think.
Rating - hahahahaha

Most other state associations separate Public vs. Non-Boundary when it comes to state playoffs.
If you non-boundary schools wish to recruit players then you should be with like minded schools when it comes to the playoff system. You have a right to attend any school you want but unless you are a moron you can understand the differences between the 2 situations. Anyone who has worked in a public school setting realizes there are challenges that private schools don't have to overcome.
Call me Bones (rude) or make silly comments I really don't care. I presented a valid option that I thought was fair for all schools public & private alike. I didn't call anyone out nor did I point a finger at anyone.
Just trying to be level headed when it comes to fair. Some of you need an A-ttitude check (where is the IHSA mascot when you need it)

I like Privates being separate! Great idea above!
If Privates are separate they need to drop out out the IHSA and a rule enforced that says privates can't play public schools in any sport ever!!! Then we will see how the public schools like it

There's a legacy, private catholic high school in Lake County, IL. They didn't make the football post season.
How did their recruiting prowess separate themselves from other teams that did make the playoffs?
Since we are on HF how about the huge out flux of players from Marian Catholic to HF...no those power 5 college level facilities weren't used to recruit kids to leave Marian.
?!
Spend money on the right kids.
Do they have Benet-like rules for prioritizing Catholics in the admissions process? Are Warren and other publics Lakes a "good enough" alternative (along with rent < tuition) to the hoodier schools in Lake?Spend money on the right kids.
