Not sure I meationed on another thread I would have Robbinsville 6 & Thomasville 7 because I believe their RPI will be higher but someone said OT is using RPI's as they are now. But obviously they are predicting Robbinsville to win the conference. Is that projecting wins tonight or is that not counting tonight s games.?
As a Thomasville fan, I agree with you. Playing Lexington will almost certainly drop Thomasville. I also agree that it is based on math, which isn’t subjective. But I do think they are taking the calculations too far. You don’t control your conference. You do control your record to a degree with how you play. But you have zero control over who your opponents schedule. That shouldn’t even be a factor. Using opponents opponents winning percentage is ludicrous and that’s where human error factors into this. Dumb decision. Not sure I meationed on another thread I would have Robbinsville 6 & Thomasville 7 because I believe their RPI will be higher but someone said OT is using RPI's as they are now. Looks like they maybe doing both using current RPI's but predicting conference champions because they have a footnote concerning Robbinsville..."**Robbinsville must avoid an upset loss to Hayesville to secure the spot."
But man they had to deal with a lot of Covid issues like ER did, and I’m sure other schools. Makes it tough to get in a rhythm and to stay sharp. Feel like that’s what happened in Brevard game.Robbinsvilles fault on where they are..had they won the 3 games they lost(which all were very winnable)I have them at .68714....2nd place rpi
Your conference which is correct a school can't control can hurt you it's happening to Mitchell as well so I understand but it does push a school to schedule quality schools in non-conference.As a Thomasville fan, I agree with you. Unfortunately, this year there is another huge factor in that COVID is affecting the results. Losing out on games affects the math, even though your team may have done everything it could to avoid it.
I’m saying it shouldn’t be counted at all. How many times during the season did a team have to play a different team at the last minute due to a cancellation? Or how is an AD supposed to know two years in advance who his home and away agreement opponent is going to schedule. I just don’t think schools should be rewarded or punished based on who their opponent plays. Take that factor out altogether and I think the system makes sense.Your conference which is correct a school can't control can hurt you it's happening to Mitchell as well so I understand but it does push a school to schedule quality schools in non-conference.
There going to be something wrong with any system. I've meationed on other threads that adding getting an extra credit for beating a bigger school to me is a good idea if example if we had the same system as CO who uses RPI but the extra credit in Mitchell's first 3 games were there wp was .667 after going 2-1 against one 3A and two 4A's in CO their wp would have be like .95
You could also use the NCAA RPI which is 25-50-25 or make your own 30-50-25 to give less weight to the oopw because there is big lose of control there.
I got .672605 lol but yeah ether way they'd be second. But if they had just played and won the game game that was cancelled they be 6-3 .667 instead of 5-3 .625 which if my math is close around .572705 which would be #6 right now.Robbinsvilles fault on where they are..had they won the 3 games they lost(which all were very winnable)I have them at .68714....2nd place rpi
9 games is all robbinsville had scheduled..Smokey Mountain and Mt. Heritage were both replaced.I got .672605 lol but yeah ether way they'd be second. Of course we all have a (if)...if a frog had wings
Oh okay well then nevermind I assumed they just couldn't make up one but I didn't think about with a 6 team conference you've got to schedule 5 non-conference games to get to 10, easier when you're in a 7 teams conference.9 games is all robbinsville had scheduled..Smokey Mountain and Mt. Heritage were both replaced.
Yeah probably they got the RPI system from the NCAA who's used it for years in a lot sports they just dropped it in division 1 men's basketball a couple years ago but still use in women's and other spots.I’m saying it shouldn’t be counted at all. He also puts East and West together, if you eliminate the East teams from 1 to 16 where he has TJ then he the West he would have them @ #10.Simmons has TJ way out of the top ten.
