Im super happy for Luke, love that kid, but if we don't get Knox or Duval we're going to be in for a not so hot season. I'm praying to the basketball gods that we get at least one (fingers crossed) both of these guys. Someone give me some optimism for next season please. :'(

K chose this unstable road. If no more top flight recruits commit and Grayson declares, next year will be a lost season. Hope K knows something the rest of us do not.

Going to be rough, like NIT rough, especially if Grayson leaves. Even if we get those 2 freshman and Grayson leaves we are still in for trouble.

Sad..but I think we'll be just fine ..as long as Jackson stays ! I have faith Knox and Duval will be dukies..it is getting a little nervous
If 3 freshman can win a natty I have faith we're always in it

Wonder what the recruiting pitch is now with major spots opening up? Does K guarantee starting roles or is competition for playing time still a program standard?

If Grayson leaves I'll be legitimately worried. As it stands, I think we'll have an average season. Middle of the pack type thing. And if Grayson leaves, h'oh boy.

K was here this year and we got bounced with loads of talent on the roster.

This season didn't end well, but it doesn't end well for everyone but 1 team. We won 28 games, the ACCT (with a never before done 4 wins in a row), beat the Heels twice while going through one of the most frustrating seasons (injury wise) that I've ever seen. So, if you, or anyone else, thinks this is a bad season, then your definition is not the same as mine.

I'm really happy for Luke and thought he conducted himself with the upmost class while at Duke but I just don't feel like he's NBA ready. Offensively maybe although he lacks the quickest but defensively I think he's going to really be exposed by NBA 2 guards. I understand why he went and don't blame him for leaving but I feel like he would've benefited tremendously from another 2 years at Duke.

Unless we get Duval my expectations next year are no higher than the sweet 16 so anything more than that is gravy.

I've seen us ranked as high as fourth in some of those "way too early" polls. I don't get it, but I hope I don't know too much.

Love you dude but next season is not here yet. True story and I've told it here before and you may have read it. At the time I worked with all unc fans and we all respected each other and didn't rub it in who ever lost. One of the guys I worked with son was also a heel fan which he should have been but he was at the time about 23 or 24. unc had just won a natty and a few Duke players declared, graduated and we had a transfer. The young man came into my office during this time and stuck his head in my office and yelled "Duke's gonna suck next year. " I just shook my head . I remember that day very well. I had just been looking on the board and a lot of our posters didn't say we were gonna suck but weren't really optimistic. Well a short time later dr. steats favorite Duke player Andre "bailout Dawkins decided to come and a few months later we won a natty. The young man didn't come around my office again and I haven't seen him much at all since his prediction. However I did run into him this past fall and he don't remember anything about it. Early dementia I guess but I have a feeling if for some reason I see him he's gonna tell me how much we are gonna suck next year. I hope he does. ;) OFC

Not trying to poke you, but K knows a lot more than all of us combined do. The NBA chose the path more than K. The first 10 projected draft picks are freshman.

I'm looking forward to the progression of Jack White. For some reason I think he's gonna have a good career for us. Besides if both Luke and Grayson are gone who's gonna be the next Duke player that unc nation hates. It's gonna be hard to hate Vrank and how could anyone in the world even heel fans could have hated Marshall. Man I miss Marshall. OFC

Actually think we are better. Allen and we have a top point guard in Duval. We now have size in Carter and Bolden. So actually our two weak spots are now great

I think the same..if everybody goes and nobody comes we get to develope some guys for a run next or the next year and we're not relying on freshman as much ...it's win win for me

To be honest, no Duke season will be as brutal as this past season, given the expectations.
I believe if Grayson returns, and we land Duval (he's a must, Knox would be nice too obviously) than next years team should be coming in with expectations similar to the 2015 team.
Duval = Tyus
Grayson = Quinn
Knox = Justise (probably the worst comparison of the group)
Carter + Bolden = Jahlil + Amile

This is without factoring in Frank, who should be one of the better players in the ACC.

In no way am I saying that next years team will be as good as the 2015 team, however the 2015 team did not come into the season as a juggernaut.

Duke still has,

Jackson, White, Bolden, Big V and Javin

Coming in we have,
Carter, Trent Jr and O'Connell

That's eight players with Robinson and a walk on that's ten players enough for practice.
Duke will be competitive and Grayson possibly coming back with hopefully adding Duval and that's a squad. To me Knox is just adding a quality player

If Grayson doesn't come back but we land Duval, we still have a chance to be pretty good. Frank will be ready to take the next step this coming season. Now if Grayson leaves, we don't land Duval, and the random rumblings of Frank leaving are true... well... not so much.

I don't know where all this panic is coming from. It was obvious Luke was out of here. He saw what happened to Grayson. He isn't dumb. The team will actually be fine next year. We have to play inside out and I can't wait.

Duval
Jackson/O'Connell
Trent/White
Carter/Javin
Bolden/Vrank

I don't see a problem with that roster even a little bit actually. We have 4 guards, a forward and 4 big men. That's actually perfect. Not too much for Coach K to handle. No More Small Ball will be beautiful. If North Carolina can win with those average players then I know we have a chance. The strength is in the paint. Let's use it. Duval is a must though.

I'm actually excited for next year. So far 7 players left but that creates opportunity for others to step up and develop. I'm not saying Jack White or any one play will win a National Title for Duke but if Maye can develop into something then Jack surely can because he has more natural abilities to work with.

This year lacked chemistry with so many alpha personalities and highly ranked players.

You can't be serious. I like Grayson but he's not that important like you're making him out to be. He's a put you over the top player. A rotation with Duval, Jackson, Trent, White, Javin, Carter, Bolden, and Vrank is definitely enough. Reminds me of the 2010 roster as far as the numbers. 3 guards, a forward and 4 big men.

Man people take a step back from the ledge. I get the concern but calm down, this team will be fine. Watch the masters and baseball, get ready for the NBA and NHL playoffs, get pumped for the NFL and NBA draft... things will be fine!

We need to just wait and see what all shakes out. Commits and defections if any more. Dang if Frank comes out and says he is leaving this board will melt while our neighbors laugh their azzes off. Give it a few weeks and hope for the best. I can only assume their must be a ton of youngsters on here now. To say this is the worst year must not have been around in 1995. I almost threw up every game that year praying for a win.
