Soooooooooo, our competition wines, dines and burns us on our own turf, while Rutgers and its fans fiddle and whine. Typical.
Et tu, Rutgers?

Keep whining. Why can't Rutgers NIL do something like this? We don't need a Rose Bowl trophy. We have former and current NFL stars.
@Geo_Baker_1 ? (Can't remember Jon Newman's tag here).

“We’re at a similar crossroads now with NIL,” Franklin said. “When the industry changes, whatever industry that you’re in, if you want to be as competitive or as successful as you possibly can within that industry, you have to change and be bold and aggressive in your changing. And we have been resistant.”

"Next month, Lions Legacy Club is partnering to host a high-dollar NIL reception in Avalon, N.J. The event, called “We are! At the shore,” is set for July 27 from 6-10 p.m. at the Avalon Yacht Club."

"Tickets for the entire four-hour event, also featuring autographs, food, drink, and music, are priced at $5,000 for two. Separate, sponsor-level opportunities are also available for the event at $10,000, $15,000, and $20,000. Those giving levels include a picture with Franklin and the Rose Bowl trophy."

Meanwhile someone complained about a $600 per head fee for a Rutgers basketball NIL event as if that was an outrageous amount of money (see link below). I can only assume that they would go into cardiac arrest if this fee schedule was proposed for a Rutgers NIL fundraiser.

Weird that this is the first I am hearing about this event. Seems to be a communication problem with Rutgers and NIL entities. Updated my Twitter follows to include Knight Society, so part of that is on me.

You can’t go 1-2 blocks without seeing a Penn State flag attached to a house or magnet on a car in Avalon/Stone Harbor. These are a couple of the wealthiest shore towns in NJ.

Even though this is NJ - a ton of property in the South Jersey shore towns are sadly owned by Penn Staters who don’t hesitate to show pride in their school.

I mean this is obviously the goal. I think we’ve been pretty aggressive in our approach. But as someone else said, we had a lot of people saying $600 was too much for a day with the guys on the basketball team. Can’t imagine the pushback we’d get for a football event, which is why we are starting at basketball who is already a little more established.

The event on Sunday will be the first of its kind and a great experience for all who attend. As we make it a yearly event, it will only get bigger and bigger.

Could NIL at RU be better? Absolutely. But we’ve been relentless to try to find more opportunities for the athletes and I know the guys at knights of raritan have been too.

IDK about football, Geo.
I think an event like they had in past like a Casino Knight at SHI Stadium would be a big draw for higher donors. We have a lot of great past and current NFL and CFL players that would drop north of $1,000 to go.

Unfortunately, the golf event is too close to game time for me, and I have been banned on every golf facility on the East Coast (not a golfer), but I would attend other such events.

Something down the shore would work too. There are a lot of big money RU alums down the shore.

If you give less than 10k you have to take two pictures with Franklin.

Nothing is stopping Rutgers from having an NIL event in Philadelphia, Newtown, Yardley, or any other Pennsylvania towns/cities where we have a strong presence.

Been to many Shore towns and there are plenty of RU flags and magnets all over the place.
Cult towns exist everywhere..guess that’s one.
Many shore towns in Cape May County?? No there isn't a lot of RU Flags down there. Even South Jersey people are Penn State fans because they get their sports from Philadelphia based stations.
Like I said, you obviously never been Avalon.

What did Willie Sutton say?

If I’m State Penn and I have the opportunity to hold a function like this in that location…they would be stupid not to.

Much rather be there than Philadelphia or State College in July/August.

Where I live this happens all the time in the summer for many schools. Same down by my Parents when they still lived in Naples. Except those were held in the winter.

LBI has plenty of Rutgers signage.
When we win ; and we will; you will see more RU presence down in those southern shore towns.
Welcome to the B1G.

Avalon is a beautiful town and beach but it was mostly PA college flags. Nova and Penn State leading the way. Saw 1 or 2 lonely RU flags when I was there last summer.

Pretty much from where the AC Expressway meets GSP, south of that is heavy Pennsy.

Maybe if Rutgers beat PSU more than once every 50 years that might change. How can you expect any kind of fan base to be established when the one team wins all the time most of the time by more than 3 TDs

Dude I'm a Rutgers fan! I was the only one who had a BIG TEN flag at Heinz Field days after the announcement getting invited into the Big and then Flood laid an egg to clinch the Big East. Are you just realizing that we are in the Big Ten?
You really have no idea. Cape May and Atlantic Counties are the beach vacation area of Philadelphia area people. South Jersey long time residents are Phillies, Eagles, Flyers ,Sixers and Penn State fans. No there never will be more Rutgers Flags down in that area.
Rutgers fans hang in Ocean and Monmouth County beaches.

It seems very hard for folks outside of South Jersey to realize the area is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area and it roots for the same teams as Philadelphians do. Rutgers (and for that matter, other North and Central Jersey teams) have very little following here; the media barely cover Rutgers, and when it's Rutgers versus a Philly area team, the coverage focuses on the Philly team, not Rutgers.

Exactly! @RU#1fan is arguing with me about an area he admits he has never been too. Knucklehead! Meanwhile I been going to that area since the late 80s. Was just through Somers Point/Ocean City/to Atlantic City Thursday.

Everything from Princeton, down South is Penn State Country. Even Princeton Health is affiliated with Penn Medicine.

Beach areas like Belmar, Deal, Lavalette, and Ortley Beach, hardly have any Rutgers flags.

What we need is for people to write $1000 NIL Checks. That really is the only thing that is going to make a difference.
