Know it's germans, but how in the hell is Ole Miss getting away with this? There is just no way in hell these guys should be even in-the-hunt for high-profile guys like this from outta state. When you look at those dudes top-choices, Ole Miss sticks out like a sore thumb. All the others are well-respected programs, in a position to compete for conferences championships, if not NC's. And then there's lowly Ole Miss, right in there with them.

I simply cannot buy that those guys are just that good at recruiting. Not at that level.

We sweetened the deal by telling them they could be honorary Klan members, robes, hoods and all. You know, because we're ALL racists. We knew it was a risky pitch, but they seem pretty comfortable at Ole Miss.

Does this make them uncle toms, or are the stereotypes so many of you espouse simply that: 17ing stereotypes?

The funny part is all you Rebels do is avoid a straight answer.

You make a joke talking about us calling you racists and klan members and crap like that but never answer the damn question. That's probably because you all know your recruiting tactics are shady as ****. You shouldn't get recruits like that on campus after winning 11 games in the last 3 years. That stuff doesn't happen, especially when these kids have the option to go to Bama, Florida, or Georgia. You are fooling yourself if you think your university is even remotely close in stature to them. So quit avoiding the comments with smart *** remarks.

It's probably because they are the SEC, they are actively recruiting them, and MOST importantly, many of the other bigger options are filling up. If Ole Miss doesn't land these guys, it's bust for them, that's why they are expending the energy. It's not like they have back-up plans.

Ole Miss has an excitement about their program right now that is drawing guys in. Remember Freeze was Orgeron's top recruiter. Dude is just good at it.

Who said you were "ALL racists"? Not surprisingly, your reading comprehension sucks. The point that your school embraces a racist heritage is not really debatable.

we just take it one game at a time, there's no I in team, we take what the defense gives us, we give 110%, our backs are against the wall, there's no tomorrow, we've got our game-face on. Or something like that.

Fine, I'll give you answer. The best recruiting class we've had in the last decade came after Orgeron's first year in 2005. The onfield results sucked, but the man was, and is, a lights-out recruiter, and had us in the game with folks we had no business being in the game with. Who else was on that staff? Hugh Freeze. He learned from Orgeron, and if memory serves right, served as recruiting coordinator (likely in title only).

Fast forward, Nutt does have the forethought to sign Denzel Nkemdiche, puti\ting us in the driver's seat for t\his little brother. If the nation's No. 1 recruit is talking up your school, other recruits are going to take notice, and may even be interested in following. Taking that a step further we went 4-8 and 2-10 the previous two years, and in year 1, Freeze has the program going to a bowl, the older Nkemdiche carved out his own niche, and this team was a handful of points from being 9-3 instead of 6-6.

In my opinion, a lot of recruits see that turnaround, are under the impression we're moving in the right direction, and also are interested in large part because the No. 1 recruit in the country is interested.

That's my opinion. It's kind of hard not to be excited about the future when we have some 19 starters plus our regular kicking/punting starters returning from redshirts considering what this team and coaches have pulled off since walking off Scott field last year to this point this yet. These recruits are being told, smartly, that they're the missing piece of the puzzle from taking that next step.

But you're still Ole Miss. That's peoples' point.....

....I'm not hating here, but you're just not a destination school. I agree about Nkemdiche, I think that's the biggest draw.

That depends on whether or not those players fit the definition which I posted on nafoom (wikipedia source). Kimdeechy clearly is aware that he has viable options. Lawson and Treadwell? Depends on whether or not they feel they are being forced to attend Ole Miss due lack of better choices.

You're forgetting something though....

They all know that Robert is only considering OM because of his brother. So if they aren't dumbasses, they can see that the only reason Robert wants them there is because he may be stuck there with big bro and needing some help to possibly make a bowl game. These kids want to win and be in the spotlight...they likely do neither at OM. Unless George W flies in to watch his team beat the 17 out of them.

And one other thing... You're assuming Ed Orgeron didn't cheat, which is a HUGE assumption. Do you think Orgeron won recruits over with his great communication skills?? Must have been his head coaching experience...no wait. See the 17ing pattern here? You don't recruit to Ole Miss as good as you do to Southern Cal by just being a likeable guy. Your head must be stuck in the same sand that's in your ****** if you think what you said above is the only reasons these kids are showing interest.

I'll try.

I'm a couple of years from 30 and I'll make $150,000 this year. I'm married but have no kids so I can be a little free with my money. The football team got me pretty excited this year so you can read in between those lines. These things happen when you go to Ole Miss. Recruits aren't blind and see that they can also choose this path. This happens thousands of times over.

On the other hand, all of the redneck/racist folks that I ever knew went to Mississippi State. These people throw around the N word as fast as they can ring a cowbell and shotgun Milwaukee's Best. Clanga Clanga Clanga. They now work at bars and farms and gas stations. Recruits don't like that path so much.

247 article, "Poised for a big finish", Bama, ND, USC, UGA and...Ole Miss??

Seriously, talk about a square peg in a room full of round holes. This isn't about how they can out-recruit us, but how plain obvious it is that they don't belong anywhere near that group, yet are "in-it" with several big-time prospects. Would be one thing if these guys were seriously considering other similar programs, but Ole Miss is the only one that doesn't fit the profile.

And as far as Homer is concerned, you've already been schooled that I didn't say anything about racism in my OP. But since you brought it up, I do often wonder how some of these kids parents can be so ready to send their sons to a school with such a sad history, well beyond the '63 riots. In 1982, when these kids parents were around, there was a student uprising at Ole Miss because their first black cheerleader refused to carry the Confederate flag at games. A bunch of Ole Miss students marched on his dorm chanting, "Two, four six, eight, hell no we won't integrate!". His dorm room was burned, then flooded. He needed guards to take him from class to class due to the threats he received, etc. Fast forward to "Chunky Mike", just a few years ago. Yes, that dude is now in the minority at Ole Miss, but it says something that a guy like that can feel comfortable going around the Grove loudly proclaiming "F those N's". Seems to suggest that there is still a sizeable enough contingent there to not make that too socially abhorrent to even be possible. Yes, there are racists everywhere, including at MSU, but I truly believe if someone tried that at MSU they'd get taken to the woodshed right quick. At the very least, they'd be ostracized by 99% of the student body.

Since you asked for it Homer, there it is. Were I one of those parents, I'd consider all those things, including the Rebels, fight for Dixie/TSSRA, etc, even if I believed 90% of the student pop was no longer racist in the extreme. But apparently they often don't.

So you're admitting whoring your wife to recruits and to an NCAA violation?

I noticed in your sig that even after Believing, Assuming, Hoping, and Being Lied Too...Damit, we still had a better record than the Ole Miss Rebels. Do recruits notice that too? Or are they only brilliant enough to figure that type of **** out when it comes to figuring out the hidden gems that OM has to offer them?

I hope you give the recruits more credit than this, as anyone except the meth-addled ruralites of Arkansas and Alabama could realize that one team was significantly better than the other and that the two programs are headed in completely different directions. That's not even debatable anymore. And even then, the meth heads likely realize this as well. Don't take the recruits' intelligence for granted like that.

You're the kind of guy that will get a plaque like this as a Christmas gift this year and be simply elated?

West Division
1.Alabama (2) 7-1 12-1
2. LSU (8) 6-2 10-2
3.Texas A&M (9) 6-2 10-2
4.Mississippi State 4-4 8-4
5.Mississippi 3-5 6-6
6.Arkansas 2-6 4-8
7.Auburn 0-8 3-9

wt17 are you talking about? no one said a thing about racism. if iowa st, nc st, arizona, tx tech, colorado, oregon st, maryland, MSU, etc. were getting serious consideration from obvious national recruits with no in state ties to the school, it would be awfully "interesting" too.

Ole Miss Football is an un-debatable powerhouse now. Gotcha.

An Ole Miss degree will allow you to make $150,000.00 per year within 6-7 years of graduation. You bet.

Freeze is just a ridiculous recruiter. Orgeron was too. Players from that team said they were constantly smothered by Orgeron and he was absolutely relentless. Plus, the thing that most people don't realize is that O was really good with momas and grandmamas. Apparently Freeze is too.
