I also noticed this too and pointed this out the start of the season when some people were predicting 3+ AA best team ever talks. Every season we are met with many more lows and WTF moments then the highs. We peaked when Ash and Suriano won titles n it’s been a steady complacent/decline for too long.

SCW got totally screwed against Okie as that was clearly a TD which would have won him the bout and us the match. If Joey O had wrestled against Okie we win the match. The Rider kid at 141 beat Wells via injury default for 6 points. We were really not aggressive offensively against Okie which cost us the match. Against Drexel we finally got offensively aggressive. Shawver had a WTF match. Upper weights wrestled well. Don’t forget Peterson beat some top ranked guys while at RU so I can’t see why you say he did not improve here. Did he regress at Iowa cause he got pinned and only beat another unranked guy barely in SV? We tried to make Brian Soldano a total wrestler her and not just rely on his funk. I had a long talk with Roger Kish the Okie coach who told me he is trying to do the same thing we tried to do during his career here.

Soldano time here has to been seen as a total failure, he was the 12th ranked recruit in the country and regressed after his freshman year then the coaching staff pushed him aside for SCW a guy brought in to be a room body. Peterson another failure , top 17 recruit #1 at his weight and never came close to being the top of his weight class , never developed any more offense.
Shawver is a big ten champ and an AA, those guys don’t have wtf matches against 6th year seniors who have never qualified for nationals. Quite possibly the worst lose for any big ten champ from the past 20 years. He also got wrecked by Mougalian whose never been a starter in college.
Rutgers is in the middle of the 2nd best talent producing wrestling state in the country, in the big ten with a very good fanbase and has finished top 10 at ncaas before , you don’t get to pat yourself on the back for wrestling aggressively against drexel.
the team looks pretty bad so far. The 2 AAs pinto and Shawver have looked nothing like AAs or even R12 guys right now. The best wrestler Oliveri a senior was just sat down for 2 duals, including a national televised one and it cost Rutgers the dual. Transfers at 197 285 have been average so far.. 149 Clark has regressed, 125 Rutgers lost peterson a top recruit and R12/AA type guy and swapped him out with a NQ R32 type guy. SCW looks good but just lost to the guy hes replacing. Parkins and Harer are solid redshirts but most likely have the same ceiling as the current guys in the lineup which is R12/ low AA
big picture not much to be optimistic about at the moment everything seems pretty stale at moment
She has bigger fish to fry and wrestling probably isn't anywhere near the top of her concerns.

I think only SCW has a decent to shot to AA after this year.. not enough evidence from the other recruits to think they got a reasonable shot to AA. If younger Harer isn’t a stud we are going to be cooked unless we hit the portal.

Mytych is probably the only reason the PA pipeline is flowing. Goodale has done a lot for the program over the years but it’s time for him to move on. This does not look like a B10 program. I don’t believe that Blair, Delbarton, SJR, SPP, etc. have all closed their doors to RU. Goodale isn’t working hard enough to build those relationships. VT is all over NJ and now snagged Konopka out of GFA up in CT. Eleazer DeLuca has built RFH into a public school powerhouse and runs the Dragons which attracts kids to train in NJ from all over. Where are the pipelines Goodale built during his time?
I think it's unfair to say that Rutgers does not look like a B1G program. They consistently finish in the Top 15 in overall rankings and are consistently within the middle tier of the B1G. They consistently beat Northwestern, Indiana, MSU, Purdue, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Illinois. The problem is that they never beat PSU, Iowa, Michigan, OSU, Minnesota, and Nebraska.
Well they are staring down back to back years with no AA and The projected lineup above for next season will lose to atleast half those teams if they don’t hit the transfer portal hard
I don't think the future roster is as bad as everyone thinks. Yes, they're super young and no proven AA guys yet (which I admit is alarming), but I think there's potential. That is of course, if they develop. Which apparently is hard to come by. I still think we're getting better recruits than in the past. As long as they wrestle to score, I'd rather watch a young squad with a higher ceiling for development than a bunch of grad students losing to unranked competition or barely scoring in their wins any day.

So, that's a different issue. I would argue that Goodale has historically put so much importance on winning duals that his roster builds have been to have guys at each weight that can help win team duals. These have been guys like Gravina, the Van Brills, Billy Smith, Clark, White, Janzer, Pagano, etc. The national tournament has not ever been his focus. Ashnault and Suriano were unicorns, maybe also Rivera.
I think the problem is the inability to recruit top guys because you don't have coaches with top credentials. Right now that is only Labriola. Losing Pritzlaff/Rivera/Buxton to Columbia has likely really hurt there as well as losing Ashnault to Princeton.
Totally agree. I think Goodale comes across as more of a manager instead of a coach which is OK under certain circumstances. But DT is a coach that still breaks a sweat in practice. He will make every wrestler better. Brands Bros are scrapping with wrestlers every day. If RU grabs JB the program immediately elevates recruiting profile as kids want to grind with greatness. I’m sure Goodale is a likable guy but does a recruit believe he will make them an AA?
Explain then why the last three and class of 27’ are all top 10 recruiting classes and none of those coaches were here for the 24-27 classes?
