Jesus REALLY?? SMDH
If you think that is bad I do not want to tell you how much they are struggling to keep the best goalies in NJ home. It has been since prior to 2013 and the top 2019’s and 2020’s are leaving the state. I know they only take one but it is still hard to imagine not doing a little better.

Yeah something’s got to change. This isn’t good.

I am not saying that the kids that he is bringing in aren’t good they are just not seen as the top kids. The top 2019 (probably) is going to Syracuse and the top 2020 is going to Duke. It may change with the 2021 class as I hear one of the top two kids in that year has Rutgers very high on his list.

That’s a shame. Damn. How are we looking post-Max?

I think next year will be a battle between Touhy (So.) and the freshman from Colorado. I like Touhy I think he was very good in the fall before he got hurt and he would be a good replacement for Max but again that is not the only issue we also have to replace Pless and Michaeli on defense.

What else is new? Do NJ kids ( and parents?) want to go to a perennial bubble team or established programs that play in the tournament?

Lacrosse roster doesn’t look much different than basketball - most of the NJ kids are filler. Pikiell will have two Jersey kids next year - Harper and Mulcahy. The other NJ kids are walk ons. With most lax kids committing so much younger than hoops, I think the parents play more of a role and they want the brand name for their 15 or 16 year old or at least a coach who has put his current program in the tournament.

The difference is that there are other hotbed places that have lots of player who would like to come to RU.

Unfortunately lacrosse HS guys come across as the “elite bougie” type who want no part of a public in state school. Wouldn’t be surprised if the parochial Nj lacrosse guys are exactly like the parochial football guys who think Rutgers is beneath them.

Brian will never have a roster full of kids from NJ. He wants a well rounded geographical roster. He will always recruit NJ hard and the bulk of our roster will be from there, but he very much wants to get kids from a number of other areas.

We aren't getting all of NJ's best, but we seem to be doing better than we have in the past in that department.

Speaking of, @rufamily, is Taub red shirting? I was expecting to see a lot of him this year.

Wasn't Pounds one of the top 2 or 3 goalies in NJ last year?

Having Max back has been incredible but there was a downside. The back up transferred to Utah and looked pretty good from what I saw. You'd still have Max for one year knowing this, but it did happen.

Hopefully the current back-up can stay healthy and step up next year. I've heard good things.

No, the kid from Summit was the goalie of the year and the kid from Ridge was also and AA. Pounds was not. He was one of the better ones but he was only 3rd team all group 4 and there are 5 group or 15 all state kids.

Canyon Burch from Manasquan a kid who has a chance to be NJ's all time leading scorer is headed to Penn State.

That’s all I need to know. F’ing A. We have to keep those guys. This isn’t football where PSU is a power. It’s lacrosse. You don’t have to go out of state to play for a winning team. Good lord

At this point I do not trust this team to be anyone other than Michigan. That being said Let’s hope that Ohio State loses to Penn State, Johns Hopkins, and Maryland, so if we both go 2-3 in conference play we get into the conference tourney over them.

OSU keeps playing like they have, the past 2 weeks, and we should be okay.
