From Tra Waters of NCHSAA:

Not this year, they have an event that conflicts with the new date since we had to postpone a week.

I was wondering why Wake was skipped this year. NCHSAA site states 1A & 1AA at Duke or NC State. Do you know when thier going to decide that?

unless they’re planning on hosting an early bowl game, what could be the conflict???

Unless it’s the School of Divinity fall exams, the only thing they show on their calendar is the Fox8 holiday concerts. That does bring thousands of people to the coliseum, so parking may be the problem.

The NCHSAA needed all the games closer to their offices!

Wake is too far to the West to host championship games just as Hickory was too far to the West to host Western Regional Basketball games, so the NCHSAA made the change to move them further east as they've now done with the Wake Forest venue for State Championship games.....

Wake is the preferred location. The tower / press box (McCreary Towers) and upper floor of the field house are rented out to businesses and organizations for events. A lot of companies utilize it for parties on weekends. They built a magnificent facility with a plan to utilize it year round.
