I know - his closet is jammed with Natty’s.

Who is Natty and what does he or she have that Franklin has jammed into his closet?

One thing is sure ... YOU deserve Nattys. You are the pinnacle of excellence and deserve nothing less from your fave football squad.

I never said I deserve anything - you can take your Franklin Fanboy act on the road to his next stop - I am sure no one here outside of Marshal will miss you. Boo Hoo PSU will never win again and how do you know - you don’t period you just hope so.

Being normal and logical does not make me a Franklin fan boy. Understanding that Franklin did quite well here, and did well by the university and the football program does not make me a Franklin fan boy. Determining that this success likely earned him the "right" to play out the season to see if he could turn it around and retain/build on the stud recruiting class he was bringing in does not make me a Franklin fan boy. Understanding that it was also in the best interests of the university to retain his services until the end of the season, so that the rot (of folks like you) doesn't creep in and contaminate too many things, does not make me a Franklin fan boy. If Franklin didn't regain the locker room, didn't perform the rest of the year and didn't retain his recruits ... then, yes, you REALLY consider firing him then (i.e. almost certainly do so). But this current situation isn't beneficial or healthy for the program. It's not about Franklin ... it's about the university and the program within. Now put your binky back in your mouth and crawl away.

Marshall just hates anyone who questions any coach, because glorified gym teachers are the pinnacle of evolution in his mind. We have nothing in common.

You likely won’t have to worry about that because we won’t ever be ranked #2.
JF had a nice 12 year run. PSU may or may not be able to do better. But it was a preseason pseudo-2.
IMO , He was ready to leave, as much if not more than Kraft wanted him to leave.

this is hilarious. I neither donate to State football nor attend home games. in what world is my ”rot” influencing the football program?

I do however enjoy blue/white (view from the tailgate) and will be in Seattle v huskies

Departing message from Franklin ? Easy. "Don't forget about my $50 million."

Still shake my head every time I think about that BS

Let’s have an honest conversation, Marshall. Put schtick aside. How much blame do you give Franklin for this season?
Percentages are difficult to determine. I will say Kraft is getting off easy right now. Lots of intrigue went on this offseason. Some has been detailed in The Lions Den...more will be coming out as players transfer and are free to speak.Suffice it to say the myth that Franklin had "everything " he needed, is just that. Kraft didn't provide the $ he promised and then told James he spent what he had poorly.
I'm fine with Franklin moving on. None of the projected candidates are his equal. Kraft handled the exit badly and the search appears to be down to tier 2 and 3 already. One thing for certain. Franklin will enjoy the next two years more than the PSU fans who think his departure is progress. Loyal PSU fans will have a team of mercenaries imported from teams they were unhappy with and pine for the likes of 34 wins in 3 season they once turned their entitled noses up at. But the good news is, the new coach may have a family they can hurl slurs at after loses.
As I've panned for years...We Deserve Better....Imo the BWICAC is getting what they deserve.

All of these words and you couldn’t even manage to write one negative thing about Franklin when you were only asked about him and this season.

I'm going to stick my nose in here because I think I've been a Penn State fan boy for nearly as long as Marshall2323. Yes, Marshall was a long time football coach, but he was also a league director. His perspective is truly unique.

I think that HCJF had worn out his time as CEO of the PSU Football program. His body language alone, this entire season (1st 6 games), gave me the impression that he had checked out. I saw no/little interaction with players or coaches (of course this was what the TV producers were showing me). It certainly was not what I had seen in prior seasons.

I think that the mi-season dismissal was most unfortunate. With that said, Franklin's inability to have his team prepared for UCLA and Northwestern, coupled with his team's lackluster play during the 3 gift victories really forced Kraft's hand.

I will go back to sleep now.

One more thing. Football is a cruel mistress. As bad as this season has unraveled...PSU is a blade of grass and an unlikely toe tap from beating Oregon and Indiana.
The question wasn’t about Penn State, it was about Franklin. He wasn’t coaching against Indiana.
It was clear to me he wasn’t into it this year. I am not a “fire the coach” guy by any means. But I said he needed to fired after the UCLA game. That team was not prepared to play.they weren’t really up to play the first three games either. This looked every bit like a team that was unprepared to play this season.
Now, had he earned the right to have a season like this after what he had done at Penn State? No, not in my opinion. His career was good to very good. This year was an abject failure and when a coach has run his course the right move is to get him out of there. He had run his course. He was done.

Who cares about posters? It's the donors. Kraft has a stadium to pay for.

I can’t wait to see how the “donors” enjoy sitting through continuous 6-6 seasons every year.

I don’t think people realize just how hard it is to win out in this expanded Conference anymore, let alone a National Championship. It’s not just Michigan and Ohio State anymore. Oregon, Washington, and USC pretty much dominated the PAC12 over the last three decades. Now we have to deal with them and cross country travel.

Everyone’s trying to adjust. Not just us. Putting together the record we did over the last three years was incredible. Nobody’s a winner every year. You make mistakes, you adjust.

Question?

A.) We have a basketball coach who has trouble beating Fairfield and is picked to end up dead last or close to it again in the Big Ten this year in his third year.

B.) We have a consistently winning football coach that went 34-8 over the last three years with a Rose Bowl win, two CFP wins, and a trip to the National semi-final.

If you HAD to fire one, which one would it be?

Only one of those teams was not meeting their high expectations...

At 6-6 those donors will be sitting comfortably at home and their money will no longer be going to PSU athletics.
