Here's hoping to an awesome regional and hopefully a fun one for those of you attending. I saw the SEC champ game and was impressed with the amount of traveling Miss. St. fans so I expect a solid turnout in the Tallahassee Regional. Any questions about the Seminole Baseball team? I'll be happy to fill you guys in on our team. Questions for you guys though, how good is Kendall Graveman? What does his arsenal consist of? How's your teams hitting? Who are some guys to look out for?

Basically, our pitching staff is pretty similar to North Carolina's. We'll be able to bring good pitching no matter how long the regional lasts. We used 11 pitchers in the SEC tournament and had an ERA under 2 (and that's with giving up 5 runs in the first Kentucky game). As for Graveman, he's been battling a slight groin (or hamstring) pull the last couple of starts. I think he's questionable for the weekend (he started the game we gave up 5 runs in). Our hitting is another story. It's terrible. Really, SS Adam Frazier is the only plus hitter on the team. We have no power at all. Nobody had more than 5 home runs on the season.

Should we pitch Stratton against Samford or FSU? Literally no one is talking about this, but I think it's important.

I made a 13 on the math section of the ACT in 7th grade, so I think you pitch him against Samford if he prays beforehand.

We have no power, no speed, and can't hit for average. Every time we score a run, I feel a small miracle just occurred. However, we're not easy outs. We lead the SEC in walks and HBPs.

I'd put our staff up against just about anyone in the country. We finished with a winning record in the sec while being 11th in batting average, due to our super low ERA.

Before anyone asks, you can now tell them - "that fat guy" is Wes Rea. He's a 280 pound first baseman who gets thrown out trying to steal a base about once per weekend. He can't hit a curveball, but will blast the everloving **** out of a fastball.

Stratton's a future first rounder that we sadly won't be saving for FSU. Graveman's also had some fantastic outings (beat Florida and Kentucky) but he's battling a groin and showed it in the conference tourney. If he can't keep is fastball down, we're in for a long day. I think his movement pitch is a slider, but I could be wrong. We've also got a 5'4 Mexican pitcher named Pollorena that runs the bases or plays outfield sometimes. Usually just a cheerleader, heart of team. We have a slew of other Sunday/midweek/middle reliever guys that are all solid as hell. We close with a combination of Reed and Holder. Reed's a great senior that got replaced because Holder is a boss. Yet to give up a run, earned or otherwise.

We can't hit for ****. Only the SS, Frazier, our lead off man, who looks like Christian Bale, can hit. Our whole team watches pitches, and we depend on walks to get men on base.

We're an NCAA leader in double plays turned - but we also commit a shitload of errors. Sam Frost, our 2/3 baseman is an error machine. He also likes to pop up bunts and strike out.

You probably won't like our catcher, Slaughter. He's very demonstrative, with big fist pumps at the end of innings.

What about you guys? What's your ace like (I assume you save him), and what of closers, position players, and hitting? Also, what can we expect crowd-wise?

Graveman is very effective when his ball is sinking. He's a sinkerball, ground ball pitcher. Stylistically, he is the kind of pitcher that great hitters overswing on, roll over, and ground out, but mediocre hitters have some success against. Problem is, he has a tweaked groin, and hasn't been able to get any drop on his pitches on his last two outings because he can't drive through his pitches on the weight transfer. His last healthy outing was the 3-hit shutout he threw in Gainesville. We have NO IDEA if he's going to be ready to go or not. If not, it will likely be one of our FR pitchers going against you. We have at least 4, up to 6, true fr pitchers that will see time in this regional and have all season. The ones that are threats to start are Brandon Woodruff and Jacob Lindgren. With them, there is always the fear of getting rattled and losing command, leaving balls up, etc...but they've been incredibly mentally tough so far for freshmen, outside of being rattled in a few shaky first innings. Several of those have top 5 round stuff, with the ability to develop into first-round stuff. Likely the best single class of pitchers that we've ever had on campus, but they are still very young...

Offensively, we are a work in progress. We lost 6 of the 8 starting position players from the Super-Regional team that pushed Florida to within 8 outs of Omaha last year. Of the 2 that returned, one was a freshman All American that is out for the season with a shoulder injury. The other will likely start for us in right field, after having an oft-injured career and missing 5 weeks for us this year with a knee injury. Anotherwords, a ton of youth that faced a ton of injuries that really hurt our progression as a squad early on. In our first SEC game @ Baton Rouge, we literally had 22 combined SEC starts among our entire lineup, with 5 of our opening day starting 9 on the dl. We were calling kids off Spring Break and burning redshirts. In the past 2 weeks, there has finally been some marked improvement offensively, coinciding with some of our players beginning to regain health and confidence, combined with all the young guys getting experience. This improvement takes us from terrible offensively to mediocre. We like to manufacture runs and play small ball...

Of the team we'll put on the field against you, we stand to lose only one offensive contributor this season... so again, we are very young.overall. It sounds strange to say this now, after how the last two weeks have played out for us, but IMO we're still a year away from really living up to this team's full potential... at least on a full season basis.

Here's FSU Analysis:
- FSU's offense is what wins them games. The average at first isn't to impressive (.283) but FSU has OBP of .404 (7th NCAA) and walks a ton with 330 (2nd NCAA). FSU does a good job of getting guys on base and getting them in (6 R/pg). The line-up is very good 1-6 in the order. However the bottom 3 in the order are inconsistent. One game they'll be on fire the next they'll have 0 hits between the 3. The ball carries in Dick Howser, especially to Right Field where there is a short wall with a 30 foot fence. However FSU is not a power hitting team as they are designed to work counts and get singles and doubles (121 2B). The line-up is led by the best 1-2 punch in the nation in ACC POY James Ramsey (.382, 12 HR, 49 RBI, 53 BB, 69 R) and Jayce Boyd (.395, 3 HR, 55 RBI, 20 2B). Othercontributors are Devon Travis (.316, 5 HR, 34 RBI, 22 2B, 53 R), Sherman Johnson (.263, 15 2B, 59 BB, 48 R), Stephen McGee ( 32 RBI, 53 BB), and Justin Gonzalez (.256, 8 HR, 34 RBI).

- The Fielding is solid (.969 %). The infield is good with Johnson being a glove at 3rd, Travis being one of the best 2B in the country, the strong armed Gonzalez at SS, and a very good 1B in Boyd. Ramsey plays CF and has a very good arm and covers ground well, but not excellent in CF.

- Now the pitching. FSU has a good but not great pitching staff. FSU has 2 good starters. There is no "ace" on this staff. The 2 stop guys are both True Freshman in LHP Brandon Leibrandt (6-2, 2.91 ERA, 80.1 IP, 25 BB, 64 K) and RHP Mike Compton (10-2, 2.88 ERA, 75 IP, 26 BB, 52 K). Leibrandt is probably the guy you guys face Sat. if both teams make it there. Brandon is the son of former MLB pitcher Charlie Leibrandt and pitches in a similar style. He is a control pitcher who has good zonediscipline. He has a FB that is 84-87 MPH and also throws acurve balland his best pitch which is his change-up. Compton is also a similar style pitcher. He is a sinker baller who has a FB that is 87-89. He also throws a Change-up and his best pitch is his slider. Both usually only go 5-6 Innings in which after Mike Martin heads to the pen. The guys to watch there are Side Armer Gage Smith (41 IP, 3.07 ERA), Mack Waugh (25 IP, 2.52 ERA), Hunter Scantling (5-1, 44 IP, 3.89 ERA), and Luke Weaver (2.81 Conf. ERA, 16 IP, 18 K). The closer is very good in Robert Benincasa (4-1, 1.36 ERA, 13 SV, 33 IP, 5 BB, 47 K). FSU has an ok 3rd starter in Scott Sitz (3-3, 4.14 ERA) but he's very hittable.

- Intangibles: FSU has one of the best home field advantages in all of college baseball at Dick Howser Stadium. The "Animals" of Section B are a very noisy andenthusiastic fan group that you are sure to hear throughout the game. FSU plays well at home being 28-5 there this year. I think all of MSU's fans will enjoy the trip to Tallahassee. Hope this run down helps.

show up at your ballpark, go ahead and run for the exits because the regional is ours. Long story, just trust me on that one. As for the team, Rea will scare your pitchers to death when he steps in the box. That is, until they throw him a curve ball. As a whole, we hit poorly. We've got 3 guys capable of reaching the fences so not much power to worry about but we scrap at the plate. Walks, hbp, just finding a way, is our mantra. Like it's been said a million times, pitching is this team's forte. We're deep and talented on the hill. More so than any of us even imagined actually. The FSU ballpark does scare me though with the short porch to right. We aren't a team that can afford to get behind by more than 2 runs at any point of the game barring a miracle. Other things to look for, let's see, we never ever bunt. We've got this guy named Frost that is a beast. Have your outfield play really deep when he's in the box. Send all your runners if our center fielder is making a throw because he throws ducks. Nothing for you to worry about there. And we've got a pitcher by the name of Girodo. Keep an eye on him of you're the type of fan that likes to watch future first rounders. He's a lefty. Think Randy Johnson. That's my best comparison. Looking forward to a greatregional and best of luck.

I was lookin at the 247 message boards and a recurring theme I saw was how everyone was happy that Stratton may be starting the first game. One thing you should probably know us that while Stratton is definitely our best pitcher, he's not the only guy y'all should be worried about. When we say our pitching is good, we're being modest. Our pitching has been great. And if ANY team in this regional scores more than 2 runs against them, win or lose, consider it an accomplishment. In our last 21 SEC games, our staff ERA is like 1.6something (it's a ridiculous stat). Anyway, loooking forward to a great regional.

I think a move to the Big 12 would be great for the University. The amount of money FSU is making in the ACC, for being the biggest name in the conference is awful. The ACC is rewarding basketball schools like UNC, Duke, etc with TV rights and other things while FSU is getting the shaft. The ACC continues to make awful business deal after awful business deal with ESPN and its getting annoying. The ACC has been awful to FSU over the years and it's time to leave the conference especially is it means more money. It's all about the money. Let's be honest the ACC is fading.

Our fans don't really like it at all. We feel for like for a team that was the #1 Overall National seed as of last week we shouldn't be getting a Conf. Champ as our #2 seed (let alone 3 with Samford and UAB). Nole fans don't like the idea of facing a dominant pitching staff. FSU has done well in games against really good pitchers but has struggled when a team has a STAFF of very good pitchers (UF). I'll tell you that the fans will show up in force though for the FSU/Miss St game and it should be a great regional. There's a reason ESPN2 is picking up the Winner's bracket game Saturday night.

We did not want to play Florida State or Florida. We weren't scared of Miami but did not want to play Florida or Florida State in a Super Regional. Since they got LSU, I think everyone would have loved it - we own those corndog bastards.

To wrap everything up in bullet points:

1. We can't hit a beach ball. We have one hitter that looks like he belongs on an SEC team (Frazier).
2. Our team lacks power. Frost couldn't hit it out of the park if the fences were directly behind the infield.
3. We like to walk. We like to crowd the plate and let your pitchers bean us. We lead the SEC in walks and hit batters. We are remarkably good at it.
4. Then we like to bunt. Sometimes it works, sometimes its an adventure. Ask MSDawg34 for analysis.
5. We are Jekkyl and Hyde defensively. Sure, we lead the SEC in double plays but we also lead in stupid plays. We make a ton of errors.
6. It doesn't seem that you will have to worry about Stratton. We can beat anyone in the nation with him on the mound.
7. What you do need to worry about is Rally Jenny, a Tennessee fan that likes to chart pitches. If you see her in Tallahassee, the other poster is right, don't worry about showing up - we're going to Palo Alto.
8. Our catcher will piss you off at least twice this weekend. Get ready.
9. We have a Mexican pitcher that is average at best, but his heart makes him a great player. He's the one that stands about 4'6. He has the ability to sneak up from nowhere and shut you down. See last year's regional for an example.
10. Last but not least, we are looking for the FSU girls with the big boobs. Directions would be appreciated.

Love the post! Mississippi Born and raised, but a NOLE and living in Tallahassee now. You guys will love the atmosphere especially since the Animals of Section B are having their Annual Tequila and WhiffleBall tournament this weekend. Usually earlier in the season but weather caused it to be pushed back. So the loudest fans at Howser will be full of Tequila before the first pitch.

I personally would have rather seen any other team but MSU in this regional especially since I have friends who are MSU alums and post on here all the time. My other fellow Noles fan said it best when breaking our team down. We have played pretty ****** the last 2 weeks, but after talking to a few of the guys on the team that I know, they are focused and ready to play ball.

As far as the women, a wise man once told me "if you can't get laid in Tallahassee Something it terribly wrong with you".

We welcome all the State fans this weekend, but please slow down on I-10, FHP has a new supply of unmarked Dodge Chargers that will make it a nightmare driving and those bastards will write their mama a ticket.

...Regional there, had an absolute blast. Rebs finished 2nd in the old 6-team format, as the 'Noles (Doug Mientkiewicz, Mike Martin, Jr., J.D. Drew) went to Omaha directly from there.

Disappointed in not getting to see Howser again after the renovations, but not disappointed in the competition for the Rebs, b/c FSU looks to be a tougher draw than Texas A&M.

Anyway, the Animals (http://sectionb.com/) are fantastic. I became acquainted with longtime zookeeper Drew Hankin and I cannot believe he is no longer with us. He kept me on the Section B e-mail list for years. Here's to a great regional in Tallahassee!

Also on the girls with big boobies, They are back and on campus for Summer classes so they are around. However, these games aren't free to students like regular season games are so I don;t know how many actually have enough money to buy Regional price tickets (unless men buy them some, hint- hint). But there's a good chance you'll see some walking in the walkways of the stadium and such. If this was a football game then you'd be in heaven.

My first choice would be the SEC; however, UF will never
allow that happen. Georgia, Alabama and Auburn would probably not allow that to
happen either as we recruit Georgia and Alabama heavily and the only recruiting
advantage they have over us is saying that they play in the SEC. Geographically,
the SEC is the right fit for FSU. We are actually closer to every SEC team than
UF is. That leaves the Big 12, which is not a bad option at all with teams like
Texas, Oklahoma, WVU, Oklahoma State, TCU etc. If Clemson comes, and maybe a GT
or VT, we would be in a division with them and WVU. Proximity would not be as
big of an issue as some like to make it. Right now, FSU will have to travel to
NY, Boston, the Carolinas etc. Someone did the travel totals for the ACC and
Big 12 and it’s only about 200 more miles total if we joined the Big 12.

It all comes down to dollars and cents. First, in the Big 12’s,
like the SEC’s, the average payout per team is much larger than that of the
ACC. Right now, it is being rumored that each Big 12 team will receive $20
million per year over the next 15 years from their tier 1 and 2 games. That’s
$3 million more than the ACC payout per school, or $45 million over the course
of the 15 year contract. Now, that’s not even considering the additional revenue
each school would get should FSU, and likely Clemson, join. I’ve heard anywhere
from $23-$25 million per school should us and another school join. Now that
number jumps to between $90 and $120 million extra dollars FSU would receive
from the Big 12 TV contract over the ACC’s. Another HUGE advantage of the Big
12 and SEC is that each team owns their tier 3 game rights. In the ACC, the $17
million per year includes 1,2 and 3 tier games. The Big 12 and SEC’s tv
contract only includes tier 1 and 2. For example, UF has signed a 10 year, $82
million dollar deal with Sun Sports to broadcast their tier three games. That’s
an extra $8.2 million per year on top of the conferences average per team
payout. You can see, that $90-$120 million dollar figure would grow substantially
with the ability to independently sell our tier 3 rights. Add $8.2 million to the
$90, you get $237 million dollars over the course of the 15 year contract; that’s
crazy money. And we would be crazy to give anyone, not just UF, that much of a
financial advantage over us.

Why does money matter? Recruiting. It helps with facilities,
recruiting budget and the ability to retain assistant and head coaches and not
lose them to other programs that can pay more.

Another unknown is how will the new playoff be structured?
With the Pac 12 and Big 10 and SEC and Big 12 pitting conference champions
against one another (should their champions not make the playoff), where does
that leave the ACC champion? On the outside looking in, if you ask me. Talk
about a killer for recruiting. Now, I don’t know that, that would happen, but
it is certainly a possibility. Another advantage of the four conferences above;
each conferences will control the rights to those conference championship
games. The payout could be, and most likely will be, huge.

So, in a nutshell, I’d prefer to play in the SEC because we geographically
fit, but UF will never allow that to happen. The next best choice is the Big
12. It’s really a no brainer unless the ACC can somehow lure ND to join and
another big time football program to help drive up the TV contract payout.
