Good!

Seeing kids transfer from school to school drives me up the wall. There's a lot to be said about being loyal to your community.

If there's a man from Albemarle at the helm, I might just support NS......yeah right!

There's no doubt about that. But how will the South East Albemarle students get to and from practice?

They are not planning to combine AHS with North. They are planning in phase 1 to split AHS into NS, Ss, and WS. Considering the majority of the football players are in south Alb I would say more than likely they will goto south or west.

One of my biggest issues with Plan A is that some students will attend three high schools in three years. Bad idea.

From the corner of Amhurst it is 4.6 miles further to North Stanly than Albemarle making it 7.2 miles total. For many student attending a county school that is not out of the norm. Since 1964-65 students from West Badin have made the eight mile journey. The students that live off Highway 205 right behind Oakboro town center travel just short of five miles. Some players are not able to get transportation through their family but teammates, coaches, and team supporters usually are able to cover that. I base that totally on my experiences including providing transportation.

If they do Plan A West Stanly is not expected to get Albemarle students year one and if they do it will be students from west end not south east Albemarle. South and North would split them up. West Stanly is right at five miles further from Amhurst than North Stanly.

Math time.

NC retirement. $40k. SC pay $104-108k plus bonuses. Know he made $104k and heard it was up to $108k now. That is $146k. That does not include playoff bonuses for football.

If he returned to NC to coach he would give up the $40k for a minimum of three years and until he left the system. I do not know what he would make in Stanly County but my guess would be $60k? Head football coach with thirty years in the system.

$88k a year pay cut to coach the Highway 52 Consolidators. Wow.

Also, he would be required to teach some classes. That might be the killer.

Tom Knotts? lol, I don't think he would give up a six figure job for little Stanly County. But I did hear that the kids from South East Albemarle would be going to NS. But we shall see.

I've heard rumors of possibly defensive coordinator and north stanly alumi big chief at least being intern coach and possible taking head position don't know if any of that is factual but it is a scenario being talked

I Feel like Somone should be hired who has already had HC experience. If this School is going to be in 2A or 2AA, there should be more Coaches wanting this Job. Plus being a New School They will have to try to make the Program as good as possible

C'mon Man! WM wins a couple conference championships and all hades breaks loose. Talking about putting teams together and trying to beat us. Sway, you started this mess!
No way this happens in my opinion. But it was a good show for a couple of months.

Well.... since the NCHSAA has gotten so much stricter on transfer/attendance policies I'm guessing the powers that be at Albemarle figured if they were going to compete again like they did in the early 2000's then they had better go ahead and "legally" combine the schools rather than just hand picking athletes from the other districts! Times have changed and in order for them to return to "glory" they have to play by the book for once!

@FOOT of trust me, Albemarle would rather be left "Albemarle", the last two years have defiantly been down years for us, but we were going to be able to compete again next year. I still don't see it happening, but we will see.

@BDHarris, hand picking athletes? I know you hate ( and that's a very extreme choice of words) Albemarle, but whatever... I can remember athletes from other schools lining up to play at Albemarle. Heck, we got one of your athletes; Christian, didn't we? Anyway......5 State Championships a "Plethora" of Yadkin Valley conference championships so on and so on.....
If our athletes do go to NS.....There is no doubt in my mind that "North Albemarle" will beat the brakes! off of West Montgomery.

The NCHSAA leaves the transfer/attendance policies up to the local school systems for the most part. The attendance policy is now totally in the hands of the LEA since the NCHSAA BoD meeting last spring.

I like giving you a hard time Sway...lol. This whole series of events has been interesting to say the least. I'm sure it will work itself out shortly. As far as the timing goes, that window to do anything for the upcoming school year will be closing instead of the schools.

Yeah I agree foot. If the board doesn't vote at the March meeting it will be to late to do anything for the coming school year. In fact in my opinion it is already too late. But what do I know.

What are they going to do with our beautiful stadiam? it has the most and safest seating and the best field,Me and buddy can't go to a game at SS because the bleachers are a death trap.If I had ever fallen through and lived to tell about it the new name for the school would be Bluebone's & Rich HS and I would be smoking Cuban's and Buddy would be drinking the best booze.LOG LIVE THE NCC.

Our Glory Years aren't just in the early 2000's. We won State in 09, and 10. I'm pulling for WM to bring a Championship to Mount Gilead this year with all that Talent. Those Glory years do come and go, enjoy Them. Before it's over Somebody will be calling these the WM Glory Years like back in the 70's

Pulling chains or not a combination of Albemarle and north would spoil WM chances of a state championship for sure

@WARRIOR, that's right

But all you WM fans don't fret, because there will be football at AHS wearing Royal Blue and White with "A's" on their helmet come August. That's my gut feeling....

Wallace-Rose Hill, James Kenan or Tarboro will spoil any chance WM or a NS/AHS combo have at a State title AND that's if they even get out of the west!! Starmount, Walkertown & Swain will all be just as good as WM & much better than anything NS/AHS put on the field!

North Stanly would get a majority of Albemarle students if Albemarle remains open as a magnet because South will close. That school will be 2A size but not sure it would happen for next realignment.

If the county goes with three traditional high schools and Albemarle closes the majority of the students and most of the top athletes will go to South. That school would most likely remain 1A size.

@Trench I don't think anyone from Albemarle would even consider a merger would be an automatic bid to the State Championship.....if it ever happens (Which I don't see it happening), but as far as the conference goes, North/Albemarle will "Dust" the Yadkin Valley Conference Champions with ease. As far as the West goes, yeah Swain will be good as well as Walkertown who is loaded with underachieving talent. But, we can and will hang. Too bad for North Stanly in Jackson leaving, with Albemarle not "Potentially" shutting down spells " Back to the Dungeon" for North Stanly and being our step-child.

Without the consolidation, I don't think NS will miss a beat w Jackson leaving. Just like the last two years, 34 will still carry them against the "Nobodies" & get stuffed when playing the teams with a heartbeat that are actually coached!! With consolidation, a NS/AHS combo will challenge WM a bit but still won't have enough. Will take 2-3 years for the "dust" to settle before these two groups decide to actually play together. Will be a tough gig for whoever becomes the new HFC.

If this merger does happen (which I doubt). Based on numbers the only teams you'll be dusting is Rocky River Conference teams. Yea I said it Sway. Is it August yet????? Typically I'm the laid back type but not here of late must be all the crap I've been putting up with back home........

When WM crosses the bridge this season Id like to meet you Sway. You seem like a interesting fella to say the least. And yes Walkertown will be good but nothing compared to what JK or WRH will be watch out for Tarboro too etc. People forget WM has a lot of kids returning a lot. Don't firget that. The 1AA polls should have WRH and JK as your top two. The rest it too be debated.......
