Quoted from the Rappahannock Times Newspaper: "I think it was just a perception of who we were playing,"Cutler said about his teams demise. "Essex is a respectable team, but I don't think they are as good Of a team as the one ( Trinity Episcopal ) we played on Monday. They were not as big or as physical. My hats off to them for coming in here and giving us our first loss, but I really feel it was just the aura and name of what they are. They ran a pretty simple offense and we saw much more than that Monday night."

" Come on MAAANNNN!!!! If Essex was not as big as Trinity Episcopal and offense was so simple, then why couldn't you coach your team to a Victory? Put on your big boy britches and take the loss like a man. Who knows...we might meet again in the post season and you will get another shot.

Hey EssexTrojan1, the dude sounds like an idiot, and a bunch of sour grapes. Sounds like
He could not take it because you guys whipped his butt, and he was not man enough
To admit it. His mommy must not have taught him how to pay anyone a compliment.
He is just a poor loser, who is not setting a good example for the kids he is trying
To coach.

This guy is something else. Did he really think Essex wouldn't be prepared for a scrambling QB trying to throw bombs? That QB is young and tough but the coach is putting him in some bad situations. If Jones doesn't go out early in that game every other drop back would have ended up in a sack. They had zero line play and will have to get a perfect match up to win one playoff game. Better hope that match up isn't Essex again. Heck Essex first TD came with Dameron and Jones out. Plus as it has been mentioned before on here, Northumberland better be more mindful of their quarters because they are playing a lot of guys on Wednesday and Friday nights.

I hate to dwell on this dude , but My goodness sounds like he destroyed a team
At Portsmouth Christian, and if he does not change is attitude, he is going to do
The same at his current job. A little humility would be good for him.

The reality is that Northumberland is 10 points over 3 games from being 2-4.
Surry 29-28
Middlesex 23-20
Trinity 32-26

That would be like saying the reality is that Galax was 2 points from being the State Runner up last year instead of the State Champion.

I can agree with that. I guess my pointing that out was related to his comments. I understand what he said, many teams do not play well against another team that they've historically lost to. At the same time, I think you have to give credit, it's not a great idea to publicly downplay a team that beat you 33-6 as well they only beat us because our kids couldn't get over who they were.

This is the new trend. Talk trash before the game and make excuses after the end result isn't what they expected! He isn't the only coach that can't except a loss...read below!

“I’m speaking for me, but I don’t like this district, and I hate playing classless teams,” said Hutcheson. “The way they hit, the cheap shots, the way they talk… It’s a classless type of football that we don’t play. We play the right way. I’m praying that we get out of this district.”

Wow...

I agree Park View shouldn't be playing in that district, but because they are much larger than schools like Franklin and Surry. I'd rather see the Tri-Rivers split into two districts, one for the larger Southside schools in the west and one for the smaller schools in the east.

I've heard from many people that the style of play and fan support in the Tri-Rivers is a bit "coarse" and unlike anywhere else in the state. I don't know if the behavior crosses a line or folks just aren't used to that level of intensity. It has been many years since I've seen a Tri-Rivers game and that was probably when they were the Blackwater District. Trash talking and even a little intimidation is a part of the gamesmanship, especially among rivals. When it becomes taunting and disrespect is where many of us might disagree.

I agree completely. He could have mentioned the history but give credit at the same time. You give the other team credit, mention that your team has to play better, and move on to next week. It's pretty simple.

Coach Curtis has been a class act. Sometimes his kids cross the line but the majority of time they don't and he punishes them when they do. Football is a tough sport and he teaches to play to whistle. I appreciate how hard his teams play and I've always hated having to play there b/c I knew it was going to be physical. Coach Curtis has flown under the radar as one of the great coaches around.

I definitely agree! Just hate when someone throw around accusations without proof or data to support it. Being physical and dirty are different styles of ball. And kids will be kids..you are absolutely right some will cross the line but not without punishment.
