Why would it good for someone other than the NW coach to win? For the reason I stated above.

Since Braun has been officially declared Northwestern's head coach, I have to agree that he will get COTY. Schiano did a good job of increasing the number of wins and exceeded expectations, even beating Northwestern, but Northwestern only won 1 game last season. That's a big turn-around.
I'm thinking that JH gets it in a landslide- he had to overcome his recruiting violations- find scapegoats for the playgate and had to leave the last few games to an assistant. Or Day- you know- NFL team on both sides of the ball and NFL picks in his 2-3 deep. Who knew they would be ranked this high!

Greg isn’t getting it at 6-6 riding a 4 game losing steak. No chance.
However, at 7-5 there is no scenerio in my opinion where the NW coach should get the award over Schiano. I understand the circumstances surrounding the program coming into the season, but Northwestern’s schedule wasn’t remotely as difficult as Rutgers. If the 2 teams finish with the same record, Greg would have to get the nod if it’s between the two of them IMO.
If neither Rutgers nor NW get to 7 wins, I think the award will go to Day (if OSU beats Michigan) or Ferentz.
I'm a Greg supporter, but even though RU qualified for a bowl and might have had a harder schedue, I feel the Northwestern HC deserves COY award more because if the 1-11 program he took over and the turmoil he had to overcome to get that program into a bowl eligible team.
But Ipwa's no O HC might have earned the lead already and winning on Saturday might clinch it
It’s a fair point of view, except for the “might have had a harder schedule”. It’s not even close. The East is harder to begin with and we happened to draw the best 3 teams in the west too this year.

But the program Braun took over and the turmoil he had to overcome
makes DB a better candidate in my opinion
