This is supposed to be a thread about Fitgerald being fired. It is not about the quality of Biden as a parent.

It is funny- if this was before NIL - I would say it would be difficult for Fitz to just land on his feet. But now- kids, their "agents" and parents will only care about NIL and possibly division/location. Anything else, they no longer care.

I wouldn't be surprised if he winds up winning a pretty massive lawsuit against the school. Something is way off in all this, and I think the odds are 60/40 that, if it ever reaches a courtroom, we'll find that the allegations are way overblown and largely untrue, that the initial slap on the wrist was appropriate, and that the president of the school overreacted by firing him.

That's where I'm placing my bet despite all the breathless reporting and statements.

If that winds up being true, Fitz won't ever have to work again - he'll get awarded enough to represent the remainder of the career he might've had and then some.

I can see him only to try to not have his firing to not be for cause and he is allowed to work elsewhere.

If he tries to sue- it may just open a can of worms he would not want opened.

I always remember something GS 1.0 told us in our living room. "I can't watch your son 24/7 but I do take responsibility for him 24/7. And I may not be looking over his back all the time either but I will know what he is doing. And if either me or my coaches don't know, that is on me"

Guess non of them knew about the hazing or Northwestern felt the program
has it's sacrificial lamb and next year, those that knew can be held accountable.

Don't get me wrong Fitzgerald deserved to be fired, but all his assistants that knew deserved to go as well .
That makes the HC the sacrificial lamb used to save the rest from being held accountable.
But keeping the assistants will help any new HC ( if one is hired) get the team ready to play instead of new assistants having a very short time to learn the players strengths and weaknesses

Because the HC is definitely the only one who knew what was going on, or should've known? The rest of the staff were innocently oblivious and had no responsibility to be aware in the same way the HC does? I guess the head coach should follow all the players around all over campus all the time while the rest of the staff relaxes in the coach's lounge.

The lucricrousness of the situation at NW appears to be doubling every few minutes.

Just the truth . And yes i am a classic poster . Posts to back it up !!! Board legend
Why don't you talk about dominating P5 opponents in openers (@MSU 04, @UNC 06, @MSU 20, @BC 22). All on the road too. Schiano gets up for openers like nobody else.

They’re keeping all the assistants because they need coaches to have a season. Short of cancelling the season, they need a staff. I’ve said this already, it’s too close to the start of the season to hire anyone.

This is the only reason he’s hired an attorney as I said above. It’s to make sure he gets his owed money and now it’s out that he was fired for cause.

And here’s the other issue I brought up and exactly why I say the turmoil over there should be a big advantage to us. If we can’t take capitalize that’s a bad sign for the season.

Some of these allegations seem frivolous. Latino player says it was a racist culture because he felt he had to act white to fit in. Team rule about long hair meant no dreadlocks. Phrases like “the wildcat way” and “clean American fun” as team mottos.

Then some pretty serious allegations against assistant coaches, but they are being retained. This gets more messy by the day. The way it is being handled on campus seems to be getting worse.

"they need coaches to have a season."
Says it all and something hard to argue against.
With the assistants in place Fitzgerald's replacement, if not the interim HC Baurn , has a staff that knows the players making his job easier then with an all new staff having to learn what the players can do well and not so well.

But I feel Baurn will be the HC on an interim level for this season giving him a chance to earn permanent status at the end of season, or replaced if the season turns out badly for him .
Since he was just hired this year, the hazing baggage won't affect him like it might affect the others that are staying when this season ends.

The best he will do is get part of the $42M that is left on his contract.

Umm, those allegations were prior to 2010. A quick look at the coaching staff- they all joined post 2018, except for Matt MacPherson.

Can’t fire everyone seven weeks before the start of the season unless you are not planning on playing.

Not if he can show that the firing, and the school’s statements surrounding the firing, are a wrongful termination and libelous. If he can demonstrate undeserved harm to his reputation, he could get a lot more.

So fire the coach because it looks good but keep the staff because football is more important than protecting the players which none of the assistants did. Because that doesn’t look even worse?

It’s a horrible look for the school. it’s a mess and it get messier by the hour.

And I am still unconvinced that the ugliest allegations are close to being true. If they were, why did they slap the coach in the wrist? I think the president of NW has made some pretty significant mistakes.

No sexual assault. And no one was forced into things, it was moreso these are our traditions if you'd like to participate. It's all dumb **** but it's 15-18 year old boys being boys. You CANNOT do this kind of stuff these days.

I'm not going to give details.
Bro it’s not boys being boys. I’m all for fun hazing but this was super gay.
