Your gameplan needs to be for you to let me come pick up your ticket and me go to the game for you....i will give a detailed postgame annalysis if you make this happen!
and didn't have the road game history that you have, I would say you can't even consider going....BUT, you are not a normal fan, and You're just gonna have to take your chances. Karma needs you. If this is your 1st, the baby will probably be a few days late anyway, and you should be golden. If not, damn, you're in a tough spot.
Your a dumbass if you go...sell your ticket and be with your wife. If she says you can go....she doesn't mean it. If your relationship with the in laws is good, it might be bad if you go. If I ever have a daughter and she's pregnant and her husband goes to a game on or past her due date I will have no respect for him. If you can afford a private jet, however, or helicopter get your *** to the game.
ETA: When my son was born she was in the hospital for like 36hrs until he came. Once the actual hard pushing began, it was no longer than 2 hours.
you need to be knocking the stuffing out of that thing to see if you can induce labor. We tried it(at the wife's request) and she went into labor within a few hours. That said, you could then be stuck at the hospital if labor takes a long time.
Only other option is to see if you can "brick up the exit" so to speak until you get home....
Seriously, be at the birth of your kid. Regardless of your wife, in-laws, etc...you will regret it if you aren't there. There really isn't anything more wonderful & magical for a father than that moment. I've got 3 kids & each time has been just as incredible & unbelievable as the first was.
If the truth, youneed to keep your butt at home. If you go, she will have the child and it will go sour and you will be drunk in the stands at T-Town when she needs you most.
If you stay and we win, we will give you 100% of the credit and you can buy it on DVD and have a wonderful story for years and years. If we win, name the kid Bammer Win VHDawg. That makes a lot more sense than leaving her in a lurch.
the ticket could be worth more than face value ... I hear bama only sent us like 4500 tickets .... put it in a glass case and call it a "collectors" ticket .....btw, a good dose of castor oil will bring on the labor
As someone whom has never had a child, I say stay with her and witness your own come into the world first hand.
BUT
As a state fan and someone that doesn't know you or your wife, I say Go to the Game, respectively of course.
Load up the Mrs. into the back seat and haul her to Tuscaloosa. If she goes into labor, which she probably won't - gotta keep throwing that positivity out there, at this time it is imperative - then you can take her to the nearest hospital. It is a possibility though, since the stadium will be pretty loud - I don't know for sure, I've never been there.
I used to go duck/dove hunting every Sept in TN. Wife was due at the end of Sept, she said go and have fun.
I called the afternoon of Sept 12 to check on things as I could still get the afternoon flight home. My scheduled flight left at 0800 Sept 13. Wife said all was normal and she was heading to the grocery store.
I got the phone call at 0600, Sept 13. Wife went into labor and delivered my son. I wanted to name him "Duck", but that seemed like a bad idea.
Sometimes these things happen.
I would like to point out she is now my ex-wife, but the story had nothing to do with it.
I mean, I feel 80% confident that I could deliver a baby. I think it's pretty much you tell the woman to push and breath and then you catch it and cut the umbilical cord.
Now, seriously, it would depend on whether or not she is having contractions and how far apart those are. Because lets be honest here- your wife could have suddenly gone into labor a couple of weeks ago during the UK game just as well as she could this weekend. Would that have made you a turd for going to the UK game? No. And OK, sure the odds are greater this weekend that the baby will come, but timing that is not exactly an exact science either. Heck, you may face the same dilemma next week for the Arkansas game for all we know.
So, based on that I say go. What would you do if you didn't go and your wife didn't have the baby?
And unfortunately, by admitting the pregnancy on the interwebs, you just made the first huge mistake. . . unless of course you've gone to doctor appointments and those namby pamby couple showers too in which case you've been 17'ed from the get go. The best thing you could have done is just be oblivious to it all and gone and "forgot" or "didn't notice". These are our two best weapons. Posting here that you know it is coming greatly compromises the one thing we have going for us. . . they expect us to be dumb. I teach classes on this, I'll PM you my contact info for the future. . . I've helped a good many husbands over the years.
That all being said, your wife is prob under orders to not travel now so going is a crap shoot. Due dates aren't very accurate so really you've got nothing to go on other than "any time now" which means anytime from now to a few weeks from now. God, I'd kill for a doctor's concept of time.
