of talent coming out of south panola? I still say it is just going to cost the tire guy more money in wheels.
2002: Chris Herring (Ole Miss)
2003: Ricky Wright (MSU)
2004: Lendrell Barksdale
2005: Derek Pegues (MSU), Travis Sanford
2006: none
2007: Chris Strong (Ole Miss), Jeramie Griffin (Alabama), Leroy Diggs
2008: Tig Barksdale, Bud Barksdale (USM), Terrance Pope (USM)
2009: David Conner (UAB), Marvin Burdette (UAB)
2010: Nick Parker (Ole Miss), Devin Clark (Memphis)
2011: Nick Brassell (Ole Miss), Kendrick Market (MSU)
2012: Isaac Gross (Ole Miss), Temario Strong (Ole Miss),
Is USP really worth all the hype? Looking at that list, the only ones I see that proved they could play was Pegues and Brassell, and Gross maybe, he showed glimpses. And Brassell couldn't even stay in school. Pegues didn't go to class either.
Demario Bobo is missing from that list. Not sure about anyone else.
Gross showed glimpses? He started from week 2 of Fall camp and all year. He was a freshman all-SEC. 40 tackles, 10 TFL, 2.5 sacks as a freshman. He would've started at State, too. I think he showed more than a glimpse. Alot of those players were/are very talented, just don't want to go to class, and that's a mentality that starts at SP. Your list also missed Peria Jerry and John Jerry, both All-SEC players and NFL draft picks.
Homer much?
He wouldn't have started at State. Are you honestly going to try to tell us that he's better than Quay Evans and Nick James? He would have redshirted at State because of how undersized he is -- right or wrong, that's what would have happened, and we've got a mountain of data at this point that shows it.
You sound like an Ole Miss fan saying Chris Strong was better than Titus Brown after their freshman years. Chris had more Starzz, so who cares about actual performance on the field.
James and Quay proved that they could be out of shape and not make plays. Gross proved the opposite. I've got a season's worth of data to show how Gross performed on the field, you've got a bunch of data on Quay and James performing in high school when they weren't getting kicked out of school or doing other suspicious activity.
Yes he would've started at State. He would beat out Cherrington undersized or not. Yes he's better than Evans and James, or at least he has a better head on his shoulders and will probably have a better career than both because of it. The guy was in the backfield quite a bit against Barrett Jones and Alabama's NFL line. I'd say you're the one being the homer for thinking he would've redshirted at State simply because of his size.
Gross was vastly underrated coming out of high school primarily because of his size, but he is clearly on his way to being an All-SEC type player in the next few years. His first step, instincts, and technique are not easy to teach.
im guessing you didn't watch us much, which is fine, but it's a bit foolish to suggest he wouldn't have been at least first off your bench if not starting over Cherrington. Our DL was better than yours this year, and he started for us.
I agree. Bruiser is off to a particularly homeristic and overall terrible return. Emotional and cocky due to one season. MSU fans know this drill all too well. Don't know who it was that was saying they were glad Bruiser was back, but they were wrong. He's not only a rebel, but he's a huge combination of a prick and a douche. The worst type, in other words.
That ******* fagget wasn't gone all this time because of surgery. He was gone because he can't post anything worth a **** if Ole Miss doesn't have something good going for it. Surprised he didn't commit suicide over the past 3 years. Unfortunately for him, Mullen isn't going to lay down and die like Nutt did when we beat them in 2009.

Quay was not out of shape -- and he dominated every snap he played. Why didn't he play more? Why don't you ask his position coach who was obviously told to find another job and took a $100k pay cut to be at UGA right now?
Look, it's a known fact that we would have redshirted Gross. If we took him in the first place. If you disagree, please point me to ANYONE we've played at any position early in their career without prototypical size and measurables under this regime. I'll be waiting.
Fact is, Gross was looking around late in his recruitment -- and we didn't give him the time of day. Granted that looks like a pretty big mistake right now, but over the terms of a career, we will see...
If you think he's a superior player over his career, surely you would bet on his NFL draft stock vs our two guys... but you won't.
Jamarca Sanford, he's in the NFL.
Can't be, he was just an undersized 2-star nobody who started four years for Ole Miss and was a freshman All-SEC. Probably would've sat the bench behind Pegues and Fitzhugh.
If this is the mentality your coaching staff takes they are dumber than I thought. Quay and James didnt play because they couldn't get their **** together on and off the field. Gross played because he could. He may be undersized but he sure as hell whipped some SEC OL *** this year with technique. Kiffen said all year his technique was better than any DL on the team. Peria Jerry was undersized at this point in his career and he did OK.
You stick to those facts of Gross being redshirted at State because of some perceived inadequacy, I'll keep pointing to his performance this year as evidence that he would beat out every single DT on your team this year.
