And remember, I'm anti-flag and anti-colonel reb, and I really don't give a **** about Dixie. I enjoy the tune, but don't really care if we play it or not. So again, what racist traditions do I support?

I think we can change the images associated with the name Ole Miss by changing the images associated with the University. After all, for a large segment of today's society Ole Miss just refers to the University, and any negative images associated to the University exist regardless of the nickname Ole Miss. AA and other minority students at OM frequently refer to the University as Ole Miss, and many of the people currently in charge of our PR think that we can change the images associated with OM by changing the images associated with the University.<div>
</div><div>It's no different than Mississippi. For some, the word and the state of Mississippi will ALWAYS bring negative images for AA and other minorities. In order to change those images, we have to change the way people see Mississippi.</div>

Black enrollment on public SEC main campusesin Mississippi and surrounding states:

MSU - 24%
UM - 17%
Bama- 12%
LSU - 10%
UT - 8%
AU - 7%
ARK - 5%

Both MSU and Ole Miss have consistently ranked in the Top 10 among the 120 D-I schools for % of black enrollment for over a decade.

and, with the evidence that you just presented, it makes it difficult to make the argument that he was making. I would argue, though without any real conviction or empirical facts, that the recruiting bases for teams like Nebraska are probably substantially different from those in the SEC.<div>
</div><div>My post was more of a response to the dipshits on here who were acting like OM has done more damage to MS racially than anything else and that people outside of MS only see OM as the racist part of MS. I was trying to point out the reality that OM has a racist image to those in the south, and Mississippi in general has a racist image to those outside the south.</div>

by the rest of the country. Its definitely just Ole Miss that is perceived that way. (yes, that is sarcasm for those who don't get it)

To state that people outside the South have an idea that MSU is a great, diverse school (even though I agree that it is) while Ole Miss is a bigotted, racist institution (even though it's really not) is probably one of the most ignorant and assinine statements that I've ever read on here. And this place is full of ruhtards.

It is a Mississippi problem, which affects us all, whether you are bright enough to comprehend that or not.

As a side note, I'm not advocating Nutt's statement or position on the matter, just commenting on the dubmass comments being made

Okay I am officially confused. Recently UM bragged about how great their recruiting classes were. Top 20 in the nation, best in the state, etc... Now the reason Nutt was fired is because we was unable to recruit talent and only won with Orgerons andhecouldn'trecruit black kids to MS. Which one is it?
