I think it has been discussed here before but I would seriously consider trying to turn Gil into the closer.

I have to agree. Early in the year Williams was a mess but the second half he was pretty solid. He was a pretty key part of the 7-8-9 pen setup.
Devin Williams as a set-up man was great

Devin Williams as a closer was terrible

He still sees himself as a closer and more importantly wants to be PAID as a closer

I don't think the Yanks were ever going to do that this offseason

He was terrible. He cannot handle NY. I didn't like him calling his own pitches. I felt that is what got him in so much trouble. Yes, we talked about Gil as a closer. They should give it a try.

Calling his own pitches is terrible. When he would actually USE his fastball (which is pretty damn good) to set up the change, he was lights out.

When he would go all Tommy Kahnle and just throw changes....guys just spit on it pitch after pitch. And he would lose his mechanics on the fastball so he had nothing to fall back on.

If he had a problem with NY, why would he sign with the Mets, and why would the Mets want him?

Yankees and Mets are 2 entirely different scenarios. Yankees fans are brutal to their own players. You could clearly see that bothered Williams. Not everyone has what it takes to be a Yankee. Yankee Stadium is a very hard place to play, home or visitor.

Playing for the Mets isn't the same as playing for the Yankees.

Especially when you are supposed to be a core member of the team and you don't perform like that

I'm hearing that the Yanks have interest in Verlander, Chris Bassitt, and Kazuma Okamoto.

I'm really glad to see Cam is working hard trying to master a change up. That would be awesome if he could to go with his 100 mph fastballs and 90+ breaking pitches.

Chris Bassitt is basically Ryan Yarbrough at this point in his career. I fully understand the concerns on the rotation to start the season while waiting for arms to come off the DL but….If they were to sign him that would be one I wouldn’t understand

Schwarber back to the Phils. Orioles made a real run at him.

Meanwhile, Mets fans are going nuts because Edwin Diaz signed with....yep, you guessed it, the Dodgers. They just keep stockpiling high-end talent and at this point I really have no idea how high they are willing to take their payroll.

Orioles signing Pete Alonso for 5 years / $150M.

Just don't think that one will age well. Alonso hits a ton of homers....but that is about it. And he is on the wrong side of 30 to start the contract

I think George was reincarnated.
Ahhh....remember the times when the Yanks would suddenly swoop in and pull a trade no one expected or that X free agent superstar was destined for the Bronx.

I respect what the Dodgers have done and are doing. They have mastered the deferred terms contract to such an extent that present day dollars vs future....they're coming out way cheaper.
