O/T: Gold Coast Whiskey

I may be late to the party on this one but I'm just now hearing about this whiskey. Has anyone tried this white whiskey? I had no idea Mississippi even allowed a distillery.

Cathead Vodka is made in MS and it is damn good. I am not a big Vodka guy. I drink it cocktails, but I can drink Cathead on ice.

Anyway, the Cathead people are working on whiskey. I hear it is being aged now.

That's gotta suck...hey, let's make whiskey! OK, I'll let you know how it tasted in 8-12 years.

I have a bottle, and it's pretty great. It's distilled in Gluckstadt by the same distillery that makes Cathead. The distiller came and talked to our homebrew club a couple of months ago.

I thought it was horrible. Horrible on the rocks, horrible neat, horrible with water, horrible with coke/sprite.

I'm sure some people like it. But i prefer pretty much any other whiskey on he market.

What little I know, yes it is. The coloring comes from moving in and out of the pores of the oak barrels.

Someone told me that the Cathead guys buy their vodka from bulk distillers

and only package their product in MS. Is this true?

I tried a bottle of Cathead and I didn't think it was that good. Maybe I'll have to try another one.

agreed. I bought one bottle and had another give to me. Both tasted turrible.
