At some point, we'll damage our image in the quest for more cash. If we're going to offer a streaming-only option, I'd rather the B1G network did it in-house. I'd be more inclined to purchase a new streaming service if it were going directly to the conference.

Maryland fans have to be stoked - two weeks in a row proud as a Peacock.

If you are going to that game in Madison, that means 11AM start time. Ugh.
Will start the party Friday at dinner time, and go to sleep at 3 p.m. October 7.

Should be a great time!!!

I haven't signed up for Peacock. To get all the Yankees games this year would involve 3 different streaming services. My simple response is NFW, and would be the same even if they were not a dumpster fire.
I don't know where you are but if you are outside the home market you can get MLB.TV . You can get a NYY only subscription or get all the teams. This would give you all the games except the usual blackout ones. Not the best transmission in the world but certainly good enough for a ballgame. Obviously this would not be the season to try it, and if Boone stays probably not next season either!

Peacock exclusives are dumb. No interest in paying for it.

Not paying for that one. Might sign up for it if it is free, or might find a different way to spend a fall Saturday away from the screen.

Various ways to get it for free, or maybe get a free trial before the game and cancel.

It is going to the conference.
NBC is paying the Big Ten huge money each year. Part of that money is coming from Peacock subscribers based on access to Big Ten games.

If nobody watches or subscribes to Peacock then NBC won't be as interested in paying as much for Big Ten rights next time around.
Since NBC won't be able to make as much money as they projected.

Come on guys. This is when one has to question how much of a fan many on this Board actually are. It's one game. You sign up for Peacock for the month and cancel. We are talking something like 4.99 or 9.99. Price of a cheap ticket. Is it a pain in the *** - Yes! But there are only 12 games it doesn't seem smart to miss one for a couple of bucks. This is going to continue to happen. Someone has to feed the monster! I, like mdk, would never do this for my NYY, but for RU I'll bite the bullet. Not the first time RU coat me extra money, haha!

It’s very perplexing. It’s gonna be hard for rutgers to buy better players when these cheapskates won’t even pony up for a cock subscription!

I don't suppose anyone here knows how many games this will happen to any given B1G team per season, do they? For example, has it been announced that all teams will have 8 games per season broadcast on Big Ten Network, etc. etc.

I just want to plan, now, for how disappointed I'll be each season going forward.

Wow, what a bunch of complainers . The damn thing is $8 a month and you get a bunch of games.

On top of the $75 I spend to get a TV package subscription exclusively for RU FB, on top of multiple other streaming subscriptions I have.

Don't need to complain, just not buying any more product solely to watch games. Will sooner lose all interest and stop watching all together. Then no need for that $75 package, either.

You're right it's not that expensive and there's a deal you can get because the B10 is coming onto NBC. It's 40 bucks for the year instead of 60 but that's the ad supported tier (which makes no difference for sports). I usually get the annual plan of a service if it's available.

For me, it's less about the money and just the principle in my head. With this "low level" kind of stuff, I can be wasteful. Have the Disney bundle but barely use it lately, it's not the only one. Had premium here many years ago and never visited the board and it took me years to cancel lol. Is it affordable? Yes. But I prefer to avoid these bad habits rather than expand on them haha.

If you like MBB though, I think it would be worth it because MBB games will be moving there too. I could probably change my tune when the time comes, who knows lol.

I've never paid attention to any of the content on Peacock. Any good shows they've had since inception? Any exclusive movies that were good?

Here's the link to the student or alumni/parent discounts for Peacock. I think it's good through the end of the year.

What, it's not a magic money tree we just shake?

Don't know if I'll sign up for Peacock, tend to think I won't because I have too many services I don't watch enough as is. Good chance it'll be back to the future for me and my old listen on the radio days when we weren't on tv.
Exactly, I've got too many sports channels that I don't watch now, I'm not signing up for Peacock for one game. Looks like farm chores that Saturday, I'm sure they'll be piled high by then with all my Rutgers football Saturday's off. Then when it's all said and done hopefully BTN plus has the replay.

Lol ..to watch us get destroyed by Wis, again? Nah, I can think of better things to do with that 4.99, 8, 9.99 ...whatever the f on a gorgeous fall Sat.

Back in the day, I'd spend $20 or something to order FB package on demand just to see an RU game. But the idea was they had a chance to win. If and when that's the case again ....maybe.

You can do it much more simply and definitively for NYY, as described above.

It's not just the cost for me, as I could easily afford it. It's more the hassle and the principle of where this thing is headed. I already enjoy setting the DVR on a beautiful fall day and watching a game on my time. If the B1G gets a few million less in the next contract X years from now because streaming service games didn't draw as many eyeballs as they wanted, I'm okay with that.

Not sure how many people on the football board are hoops fans too…but hoops will likely have a bunch of peacock exclusives…so may be worth it

I went to like two RU games in my 4 years there. Unless we win in a significant way, I absolutely will move on and won't look back. Have already started, skipping those multiple hopeless games every season. Hmmmm...was I better off doing something outdoors with the family or spending 3 hours watching RU not cross the 50-yard line while OSU ran laps up the field.

Honestly, have wasted far too many gorgeous days indoors cursing at a screen.

I’ll watch other games that day or do something outside.

No interest in peacock

If more RU games go on peacock I’ll prob just lose interest in watching altogether
Then I vote for more Peacock! You’re not a Rutgers fan, so it makes sense having to download a free app is all it takes to jump ship.

"A peacock today. A featherduster tomorrow." So goes the saying, Dorothy Parker, I believe.
In any case, it's all so complicated, and "nickle-and-dime"-ish. The B1G needs to fine tune its stra-te-gery. Keep it simple, organized, and easily accessible.

OK one of you tech/media genius's answer me this. Who now does the replays? I used to get them on the streaming service BTN plus. Does Peacock now do the replays or once the game concludes BTN gets the rights.

Big ten owns the rights, so I’d assume they’d be on BTN

Not a streaming expert but it appears the monthly cost is 5.99/mo. for Premium (which gives you the live games) and you can cancel at anytime. So you sign up Oct 1st, watch game on Oct. 7th, and cancel before Oct. 31st. Please correct me if I am incorrect. $5.99 decision, done deal, no need for a long thread where people are starting to rag on others. It's 6 bucks - this should be a 3 post thread!

I’m curious if OSU, Mish or Pen St will have peacock only conference away games

OSU has a game on Peacock.
Why does away game matter?
It's only 100k viewers - which is meaningless for an OSU game.

OSU averaged 4.5m viewers per game.
100k more because it's away instead of home (assuming every single home attendee would have watched) doesn't matter.
