For at least 10 years Clay has been telling us ESPN was dead, yet they keep expanding.
Well to be fair if they sat around and did nothing they were going to go out of business anyway. So, they probably had to try something.
Net income in 21 was $254 million, 22 was $131 million, 23 was $99 million and 24 was $41 million…. Ebitda decline is not as dramatic as net income but it still ain’t good.
Restaurants biz is down and so is tourism… both of which hits them hard.

Since retiring I've picked up a little part time job in the food service business that has allowed me to visit a lot of restaurant kitchens. Hands down the cleanest kitchens that I've visited are Cracker Barrels , it's not even close. When on the road Cracker Barrel is my go to stop for dinner, extra credit if there's a hotel within walking distance.
It's really called a Patagonian Toothfish. Canola Oil is another really good rebrand. It's actually rapeseed oil.
Kinda like Mahi Mahi. There's no such thing as, it's actually Dolfin fish. Nobody would eat it because it sounds like Dolphin and everyone would think that they are eating Flipper.

so the new logo sucks.....and, I really don't want my cracker barrel to be "light and bright"
but what is killing me is that there are those that said the old logo was "racist".......I'm sorry, but I don't get that! I have never been in a cracker barrel where I felt like I was in a whites only place.........when you have cornbread and biscuits and gravy and damn greens and chicken, and meat loaf that is that good.......leave your racist crap at the door, I'm eatin' with good God fearing' folk, and I could care less my color, their color, anybody's color......as long as you actin' right

This is a trend when private equity groups buy out established brands and do everything they can to 17 it up. They usually keep the brand as is and just gut everything else, but not in this case.

They removed the old white guy from the logo, so they essentially removed the "cracker" from the barrel. They removed me as a customer years ago after I damn near **** out the lining of my intestines.

Pretty sure I have not been in Cracker Barrel since I was a teenager and was with my parents. The menu and concept is outdated… plus it’s not very good. People tend to be a lot more health conscious these days and that menu ain’t geared for that.
It’s name is Patagonian Toothfish. Chilean Seabass sounds much more desirable. Call it whatever you want, I call it delicious.

I don't think it's woke it's just bland. They took the old country store uniqueness and went with a sterile hospital look. They abandoned theme. Wasn't anything wrong with them, their food got more bland over the years so I guess they decided to match the aesthetic
Honestly I used to pick hotels that way. Usually there was some type of Marriott within walking distance to a cracker barrel and/or chilis.
I don’t know if it helped drive the issue or was just piling on afterwards, but I saw lots of tweets tying the rebrand to a tweet of theirs with rainbow covered rocking chairs for pride month. Don’t know if that tweet was real. You’d hope they wouldn’t set money on fire like that but I’m always surprised by the willingness of people to do that.
The problem is the food and advertising. You can leave the them old country. People visit the smokies and old western themed places all the time.
