That's a stretch.

Auburn went from 14-0 National Champions to 8-5 mediocre within a year with the same coordinators. So the slide this year to 3-9 was already well in place before Gus and Roof left. I'm gonna say Auburn's slide was more about going from Cam Newton to Barrett Trotter/Clint Moseley/Kiehl Frasier than it was changing DC and OC two years later. Loeffler was clearly not a fit for the personnel on the roster last year. With Malzahn back, the players on the roster were recruited to that offense, so I can't imagine them being that terrible again.

Why would they fire the OC? Was the HC really the OC? I thought AU started downhill when Chizick started complaining about Malzahn's up tempo offense hurting the defense (he knew he was a d guy and would get blamed for poor d) and Malzahn thought its time to get out. They recruited for spread option and tried to switch gears quickly to a more conventional offense when they didn't have the players for it.

No, running off Malzahn and Dyer was what started their slide. I hate knowing that zig zagging mfer is back on the Auburn sidelines. My hope is that their lines are still too young and they lost too many playmakers to beat us next year over there. Blake, McCalebb, Lutzikerchen and Lemonier gone, along with Stallworth and a few other guys on defense. I think they lose an OL too, and all their guys coming back will only be sophomores.

The reality is, 8-5 is a pretty good season for us. For Auburn, it's mediocre.
