OSU's passing game vs our young secondary scares me.

A win makes us look good, but it will all be about how we follow that win up.

Starting secondary: Cox, Love, Whitley, Hughes (I want to say Giles over Love though)

Starting D-Line: Brown, Eulls, James, Autry (I really have no clue considering our depth at that position)

Starting WR's: RoJo, Lewis, Chappelle

I know Osu is good but

When is the last time a team in the big 12 has gone 8-5 and then won their conference the next year?

Not saying they won't beat us because, as Cadaver pointed out, they could potentially light our secondary up. With that being said, teams that play in the "heart of Dallas bowl" or whatever the 17 they played in generally don't go on to win their conference the following year.

We need to quit buttering ourselves up for an *** whooping just so we can say "but they were picked to win conference."

Sorry if I went a little off topic there. Im just tired of the constant "big 12 champions" claims.

I'm sure PJ will start, but I was also sure of that last year and he didn't, neither did Virges, neither did Quay, neither did James....so that's why I said I'm not sure.

Media is just proving to be ridiculous and basing predictions on nothing as usual. TCU is going to win the Big12 IMO. I see Ok State as the 3rd-5th best team in that conference this year...

And it's hilarious that our Secondary gets questioned to death -- when Whitley's # of career starts ~ equals the number of career starts of their entire OL. We've got over DOUBLE the overall game experience coming back in our secondary that they've got coming back on their OL...but we're the ones that should be worried?

Wow I didn't realize their OL was so young/new. That makes me feel better because the last 3-4 years Oklahoma State has been a very very good football team. They came an upset at Iowa State away from playing for the National Championship just two years ago. I believe they were undefeated till the very last game of the year and lost at Iowa St. Gundy got all pissed and acted like a ***** because LSU and Bama played for the NC instead of OSU even though OSU and Bama both only had 1 loss. Said OSU would bring a much more exciting game then a rematch would.

The inexperienced ol is their biggest weakness. If Smith, Autry, pj, eulls, etc dont exploit their ol, I don't think we will win. I think they do though. Collins needs to bring pressure from everywhere. I think their ol will struggle with our dl anyway; but if we add a blitz from different places to that, we should be able to really confuse them

The tape is barely going to help them. The new scheme will change most of the tendencies. The returning players should be improved and the others they don't have tape on. You are right about the spread. We'll get see it early OSU and AU.

Three quick points:
1. Most of OSU's high caliber players from the past few years are in the NFL.
2. We have more tape on them than they do on us.
3. Oklahoma almost beat out OSU in the poll despite getting half the first-place votes.

Seeing as how neither James or PJ played worth a **** last year, I'd say it's possible. PJ was one of the most disappointing players on the whole team last year. Both he and James need to step up, and if only 1 does, that one will start.

I think a poster has repeated this statement enough that folks are repeating it unchecked.

Parker Graham will start at RG for OSU. He is a redshirt senior who started 5 games in 2011 and every game in 2012. Redshirt junior RT Daniel Koenig started 11 games last year. He played in every game, but missed one start due to injury. Redshirt sophomore Devin Davis will start at LT. He started one game last year, but played in seven games. Redshirt senior LG Brandon Webb played in every game but one last year, and started the final five games. Center is probably their least experienced position on the line. Junior Jake Jenkins takes over there. He started one game last season, and played a backup role in 5 other games last season. Every single one of these guy redshirted (I know how valuable you guys think that is) for a year in the OSU system.

OSU's spring depth chart featured 7 returning starters on each side of the ball. Every player on offense has started at least one game.

Does MSU have more depth on their OL than OSU? If you are going by games started, certainly. However, MSU's OL won't match up with OSU's OL. OL isn't OSU's most veteran group, but the idea that they replaced all their starters but one is incorrect.

The experience of MSU's OL is fairly comparable to the experience on OSU's DL. And the experience on OSU's OL is fairly comparable to MSU's DL. OSU isn't going to run a lot of long pass plays that are slow developing. Considering that OSU throws lots of quick, short passes, I can't see this huge advantage at the line of scrimmage that's being perpetuated in message board talk.

I feel like we should, but it's hard for me to be confident with how ****** our DL play was last year. Living in Big 12 country I have to laugh just a bit. Picked to win the Big 12 means they think OSU can beat Oklahoma or Texas or both this season. That's not like saying they are picked to win the SEC. Defense in the Big 12 is not a huge concern. We may struggle with their passing game but they have to have the ball first.

Coverage graduated. I've seen better defensive schemes from Pee Wee teams than that pile of **** Wilson attempted to pull off last year. That was absolutely the worst 17ing use of resources I can ever remember. Never playing man with 2 NFL Corners should be all you need to know about how GD 17ing ****** Wilson was for us.

In a small sample size of work, Collins proves much more competent and in touch with what players are actually out on the field, and their capabilities.

Just thinking about Wilson wasting the talents and players on last years defense would make a priest want to punch a baby. His sorry *** leaving was the high point our football program over the past 12 months for me.

This year, they won't have to by themselves. Collins is going to bring 5 most of the time -- and he's going to disguise it and bring it from every position on the field.

Go back and look at the tapes. Our 3 worst defensive performances of the year(Troy, OM, and aTm) saw Quay not play at all. 4 of our 5 worst performances saw James not play at all. That's more than coincidental.

There is a huge difference between playing gap assignments(what Wilson did all year last year save one half against MTSU) -- and telling them to go get the QB. They might as well not even be playing the same position with that schematic change...

They've got what? 35 total starts? returning on the OL.

Like I said. About the same as Nickoe Whitley has by himself in our secondary. And only ONE of the starting OL for them this year was good enough to start at the beginning of last season -- exactly like I've said all along. Now, that they got experience due to injuries or the starters sucking as the year went on is of little consequence to the point that they've got minimal overall experience on the OL and should struggle with our DL. Nevermind the heat Collins is going to bring from everywhere else on the field.

35ish total starts = one of the most inexperienced OLs in all of FBS...Only one was an opening day starter last year -- and he's moved positions. What do you think posting a current depth chart proves without the same chart from last year? Spin away...

Both Graham and Keonig were starters in the first game last year. They both started every single game except one. In that game (the 10th game against Texas Tech due to injury), Koening didn't start, but played.

So 2 of the 3 returning starters were starters to begin last season.
